Old video or not It was really cool to see a NRE N/A big block with a manual trans and in a Big Girl like this one. I'm not hating on the turbo cars I just have never owned one so this is right up my alley. How could you not be Happy with this big ole girl a 572 CI and a 6 speed manual and a 2 legged rear. Nothing but bad ass in honest opinion. It's not hard to see that I like cars like this. Thank you for showing this!

I wish I had my 66 SS convertible with the simple 283 & power glide transmission. I sold it for 500 bucks when I was 19 and the car was 20. Man, what I could do with that car today.

my first was a $75, 66 (in 83) 4 door Impala,cracked frame,gray primer,bald tires,almost no brakes,float stuck in the carb all of the time,tap it a little and go carefully. makes me well up a little seein one like this holy crap !

I'm wondering the same thing. It could be a Richmond 6-speed with hand picked ratios, but more likely, it could just be a tremec T-56 with the 2.97 first gear, and a 4.10 diff.

not to metion the example he gives was with a 59 impala, the last year for the x-frame and the car was a total rustbucket (you see the rust fly off the car when it hits).

um not sure if you are really in tune with the donk scene but a donk is a impala or caprice that was assembled from 1971-1976. this being a 1966 does not qualify in the least.

exactly. i was hit in my 73 AMX by a mid to late 90s fullsize chevy pick-up 11 years ago at a gas station. he nailed me in the right rear 1/4 panel. i had a dented 1/4 and a cracked spoiler. his bumper was bent, right fender was crunched and his passenger door wouldn't open. a few minutes with a hammer and dolly and a little touch up with some paint and the car was fine.

hell most old cars i like they have REAL metal in them first off, plus you get hit you live, not end up in trunk with your head buried in your ass. wondering what happened, in any old car, for the most you will live. and alot of guys , like myself run a roll cage. for obvious reasons, but i can drive to track and everyday , plus don't need a computer to adjust idle.

the 59 impala had an x-frame (last year for it). its a lousy frame design in chassis stiffness and safety. the perimeter frames of later cars were far stronger and held up alot better. plus the 59 Impala they used was a repainted rustbucket (you can see the rust fly off it when it hits).

"Crumple...crush up"...Interesting distinction. Crumple zones are designed to absorb the impact, instead of the force being absorbed by occupants.But there is a limit. You never said what speed the Impala and Prius would be going in a head on crash. I can bet that the Prius driver would end up wearing the Impala's engine. Mass does play a part in it too. The Impala is twice the weight I would guess.
