It is fun to customize! You can even use a plain fabric and use the ribbon and buttons as the focal piece.

The stapler works best because it helps stretch and hold the fabric in place.

They need to be sewn through the foam board so it pulls the fabric down. This way, the pictures are held down by the ribbon. It also gives it the "pillow-y" look and dimension to the bulletin board.

I do have a staple gun :) it would work too. But since it's just a foam board I wanted to show how you could use a regular stapler as well.

This was by far the best DIY French memo board I've seen. The other ones were alright, but I found this one easier to follow. Definitely going to do this. I did buy one from Ross for about $15 I think, but I need another one. Thanks.

It's called batting. You could also use foam if you can't find batting, but batting is cheaper.
