The unrestricted access to data seems like a killer for Mom & Pop businesses. Sad

I agree. It seems pretty invasive.

Didn't know there were mom and pop aircraft manufacturers

I suspect that of the companies building light sport aircraft have fewer than 20 employees.

@EasyFlight 90 percent or more are made in Europe. Maybe assembled here, but made oversees. I don't even pretend to be as knowledgeable as others, I just know that the fact that some people may be affected by mosaic in a negative economic manner, will not stop the FAA from moving forward with mosaic.

@@mauriceevans6546 I would say about 90% of S-LSA airplanes are made outside the US. The vast bulk of kit built E-LSA and E-AB light sport airplanes as well as S-LSA, E-LSA, and E-AB weight shift and powered parachute aircraft are made in the US. I've been to the Zenith factory in Mexico, MO. They are the largest manufacturer of LSA airplanes by far, but only have somewhere around 20 employees and are family owned. Vans is the largest kit plane manufacturer in the world, but I doubt that they are much larger. Compared to Textron which owns Cessna, Beechcraft, Lycoming, et. al. that is "mom and pop". While most factory built S-LSA airplanes are built outside the US, their US importers (who would be the ones working with the FAA) probably have less than a dozen employees and are probably closer to half a dozen. They are "mom and pop" compared to even Vans or Zenith.

@peteranderson037 ok! I understand your point! The US importers are the mom and pops. I am still afraid that this legislation is almost too big to fail at this point. The implications for general aviation are great, and whatever fallout there may be for the US importers will have to become a cost of doing business. The different types of aircraft mosaic are allowing may end up being a great thing for those businesses despite the regulations paperwork coming their way.

@@mauriceevans6546 What the FAA has published so far is just a proposal. There WILL be changes before the final ruling is published a few years from now. That's why public comments are so important.
