A pilot didn't know that pushing forward meant the plane dropped? I'm not buying that. It's not his first day in a cockpit.

SWA has publicly said DEI aka in jobs where life and death actions DIE diversity, inclusion, equity is the policy. First time in 50+ year history a non pilot is in charge of hiring pilots. She may be responsible for the minimum 1000 hour jet experience reduced to only 500 hours.

Poor guy must have been so distracted that he read the airspeed wrong/thought they were going too slow/nearing stall speed so pushing forward on the control column is the trained instinct to gain airspeed quickly. By the time the red tape came out (“red tape” is a display line indicating overspeed) on the screen, he was probably even more confused. Thank goodness that a senior captain was witnessing everything. The captain was the one who decided he should fly the approach to gain experience.

Flying in inclement weather the 737 was landing using the Instrument Landing System (ILS). The less experience co-pilot must have hit an updraft in the bad weather during landing and was above the landing ILS glide slope and dropped the nose aggressively and cut power not to over speed in the dive to recapture the glide slope. The captain ordered the co-pilot to hit the Take Off/Go around (TOGA) button to go to max power on the engines to go around. They diverted to Honolulu because it has a longer runway than Kauai; sounds like poor pilot training. The “Dutch Roll” sounds like it happened with the auto-pilot in control and not a pilot error, that’s why they when back to Boeing.
