Awesome video bro. So , my takeaway is... If you want sound get the full race. If you want max power and torque from a stock tuned vehicle, get the roush. If you want more HP and torque without breaking the bank, simply drop in a K&N with your stock set up and you're good to go. Thank you again.

Nice I had the Airaid tube but I wanted a little more Turbo spool noise what I did noticed that the Airaid Tube is larger then the Roush tube that had me a little worried that I probably would loose power but your video cleared my worries and the Roush looks amazing do you think I should retune the car since I have a different intake Or should I just leave it alone Thanks.

IDK how much boost the eco makes stock but what kind of numbers would it make with another 10pounds? A small (50-100HP) nitrous hit? Personally I would definitely buy a 5.0 but I bet the Ecoboost is still fun to modify and play with.

Boost is relative to turbo size. OEM boost levels is about 18 to 19. Stock turbo can handle about 26 safely before danger to manifold levels. Another limiting factor is Octane and fuel type. We typically see 310 WHP on 91 and high 350 on E55 to 85. On a built block, you can see upwards around 400WHP on stock turbo but you'll be airing it out with no life expectancy.

Thanks for the the great info. Did you ever do further testing to see how each performed after tuning (either OTS or custom)? I was shocked to see the full race pipe lose power, I honestly thought it would've performed the best.

I had read so much against CAI in forums that I never thought I'd get one. But because of these results EVEN if they don't happen I'm still going for Roush simply for sound and that clean under the hood look. I already have a race intercooler, a BOV, and a MBRP race exhaust. Combined with the Roush CAI I think I'm ready for a tune.

Good comparison, It appears the Tune needs to be added to make the best of the CAD-designed Intake tubes. Can you do the same (non-Tune) test for the 2018-2023 GT?

Should be good. We're talking about minimal HP loss with the possibility of a large net gain with a tune.

Got another question does the Roush intake for the 15 to 17 do you think it would probably make the same amount of power as the enclosed intake?

They are both excellent intakes At that point, it comes down to how it looks in your engine bay Roush looks OEM plus where as Cobb looks aftermarket

Been a mustang guy my whole life,owned a few classics, seven Fox bodies,and an '03 cobra.I think the Ecoboost cars get alot of shit cuz it's a four banger in a 'stang but 250ish HP and 300torque at the wheels is no joke.Never driven one but those numbers tell me that's a fun car.The V6 cars were rated at 300HP! Damn it! My cobra (definitely under rated) was rated at 305HP..the old pushrod 5.0 could only dream of those numbers unless it was boosted.Can you imagine getting waxed by a girl in a white V6 with pink stripes in your built fox? Ouch!

For the intakes 2 vacuum valves did you have to get a vacuum hose splitter or how did you get around the two vacuum hoses at the bottom of the stock intake?

Yes, that’s actually the best set up. I would only recommend that for drag racing on a drag strip

Right now I have the Airaid tube with stock box and k and N filter but I wanted something a little louder so I just ordered the Airaid full intake cause Airaid has the biggest tube of all the intakes I have seen so I don’t know if it will be better then the Roush intake my car is tuned so I don’t know if I change my Airaid tube if I’m going to loose hp

I thought stock mustang eco is 310 horsepower???

Im getting the ford performance tune that comes with a K and N drop in filter. Should I get the airaid intake tube to compliment it? or is stock intake tube just fine? (Im aware that stock airbox is best but im asking about the tube specifically). Thanks!

@@dnalor8753 I ended up buying a GT lol but i will say that from my previous EXTENSIVE research, the following is ideal: Ford tune with stock air box, airaid intake tube, and kn drop filter. This combo is gold. Hope this helps !

Agreed and good call on the Full Race intake. I used to have an AEM intake on my Gencoupe turbski and it sounded glorious. I just installed a Steeda CAI on my Ecoboost, and honestly it's a little disappointing. Even though it's open lid, it reuses the stock air inlet and it's a plastic tube. Doesn't sound as loud as I expected it to. I'll have to look at getting a Full Race or something similar like COBB to give me that wooshing goodness again. Thanks for the awesome video!

Thanks for the video. Been going back and forth on the Airaid tube to go along with the Ford Performance tune. I like my tune, but can't wait to see the results after you tune this one. It also has me wondering if I should drop the OEM air filter back in the car 🤔.

ecoboost tuners like mafia racing, pd tuning, and Tune+ all claim the air raid tube matched with a k&n drop in is the best.

Crazy car only made that much stock. I nees to get a local dyno day see where im at after e30 tune

Yep, and that was after multiple runs and cooling the car done to make sure we weren't crazy. If you do the math, the crank rated HP is nearly spot on with the numbers at the wheel.

"More air makes more power" No!! Less COLDER air actually makes more power than more HOT air. Dyno proven.

Don't understand why everybody spend all this money on a full exhaust an a&m stock dry type filter gave me 50% increase in airflow a simple muffler delete with 12 in. 4 in exhaust tips cost me around $250 it sounds much better than all three of those exhaust you showed will e93 tune got $340 horsepower to the wheels and 400 ft lb of torque

Because they like the look of the aftermarket parts. I personally like my Full-Race intake. The muffler delete does sound awesome but does not deliver the power like a single pipe tomei.

@@FunctionFactoryPerformance Since I watched this video, I have been leaning towards the Full Race intake. I was surprised by the intake losing gains in both HP and TQ. But would those numbers come back up (or increase mightily) with say a CVF Street Intercooler or a Full Race intercooler? And add a Cobb Stage 1 tuning on top of that? ... I have to say that I LOVE the sound the Full Race intake makes as well.

Thank you! I'm not sure it is CARB certified but as long as you're not doing anything crazy you shouldn't be questioned.

Thanks for the info, but why are you testing CAI with the hood open? It will skew the results and I bet the aftermarket intakes would be down even more on power. Aluminum intakes heat soak more that the injection moulded ones.

Well, the argument is that it doesn't as much power as they used to and they're expensive for the little gain you get. I enjoy the sound and appearance so it's a no brainer for us.

Stock intercooler can't take the boost

Stock is best because it keeps the highest horsepower and torque.All these other intakes don’t do one job (filter) out chemicals.Y’all can mess up the o2 sensors even with k&n drop in air filter if you don’t wash it properly.If you just care about sound go for it

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. O2 sensors have NOTHING to do with your intake setup. People over oil their KN panel and cone filter resulting in oily MAF sensors (heated coil) in vehicles that have them. Air filters only filter dirt and dust particles......not chemicals....what a joke 🤣🤣🤣🤣🥴

these numbers will be way off when you are on the street that roush intake will get so hot with the hood down also another shop noted with an intake on a stock tune the throttle body would close 20-30% a rerun of these numbers would be better on a OTS tune and hood up and down
