Honestly, I don't need to imagine. Helped take care of a kid with ASD who would do just that whenever _anyone_ started getting angry or arguing. I'll say this much, it really does defuse surface-level arguments before they get heated. I feel bad for the kid though, poor guy went through a lot of trauma and bad life advice from previous caretakers to get him to that point.

Facade is a game perfectly describing the worst case scenario in the mind of a socially awkward person.

@CarpetHater yes, but it's this very long and convoluted process. I don't really have the energy to explain it, but basically you have to interrupt their arguing to address their unhappiness and fears and whether or not they love each other, etc. there is a video on it that goes into greater detail about the specifics. (Which is where I got this information from, because I wouldn't have had the patience to figure that out myself.)

Facade will always be one of the most uncomfortable games I have ever played. Theres disturbing games, scary games, ones that have chilled me to my core.... but I have never been this kind of uncomfortable playing something. It was the most humanly uncomfortable thing I've played. I remember just talking to the wife while Trip was in the kitchen and just randomly yells at us from the kitchen to stop talking about him. I remember just standing there in the corner looking at the artwork desperately trying to ignore marriage falling apart in front of my eyes.

I'm still impressed by how good this game is. Yeah when you mess with it it's not hard to figure what's happening behind the scenes, but for an almost 20 year old (holy hell) game it feels incredibly real and human. The voice actors really sold it.

I'm 28 and while I sometimes balk when I remember that kids born when I was 10 are legal adults now, or that "20 years ago" is no longer the 1980s, I wouldn't trade the passage of time as an adult for anything. The fact that this game still manages to make me laugh after all these years is astounding. The same characters, same dialogue, same glitches, with the only thing being different every time is who's playing the game.

I like to imagine that all these visits happened the same night. They just kept calling over different friends to try and help.

it's very short and free, I'd recommend giving it a spin yourself. I don't remember how many endings there are but there's at least one each where one breaks up with each other, both mutually separate, and I'm pretty sure there's one where they stay together

Some games are just timeless. That said, this deserves a modern remake, so they can learn what a vpn is.

After hearing so much of Trip's upbeat voice, 14:48 sounds weirdly uncanny

my favorite thing about this shitshow of a game is that it'll give you a copy of the script at the end, which often looks especially funny with the player's input

Oh my god I remember I used to have this game. I downloaded it off of some horrible virus ridden website and Tripps pants would constantly clip wildly off into the distance

That's how the copy I recently downloaded looked. I downloaded it from the right website and everything. I don't know how RTs copy wasn't doing all that wild clipping, with shapes disappearing lmao

With all the different names I like to imagine that it's the same person who keeps switching their appearance a little after every run and starts using a different name

Apparently Facade was made by a bunch of computer science graduates and won multiple prizes at festivals. The AI used in it is so advanced and all the answers etc. were so hard to do that nobody's been able to easily recreate it ever since, not without big uni backup resources anyway, that's why we've never had another shitpost this good since.

It was 2 dudes from Utah with absolutely no backing from their university. Also, no, a game like this is incredibly easy to make now. And thats exactly why nobody has. Its not some crazy divergence anymore. It wouldnt be pioneering anything.

I think of all the indie games to come out and with how AI is progressing, this could do with a remake

The name changing every time Trip opens the door is such an underrated joke

I remember playing this. And yeah, there actually is a 'good' ending, but it's been years, and I can't remember what it actually contains.

Oh my god. I didn't recognize the game from the thumbnail, so the 'nostalgia' hit me like a truck when the video started. My god I'm old.

i was so scared of this game as a kid but i rediscovered it a year or so ago and forced everyone to watch me play it while laughing maniacally at their fear

This game was so much fun to mess around with. They were talking about making a sequel for the longest time but never did which sucks.

The amount of nostalgia that “No no, here we are!” brought back

This game is truly technologically remarkable. It's fascinating what they managed to make, all the way back in 2005.

I've watched so many different people play this game and not once have I seen someone get the good ending
