A Big Thank you. I just recently tackled the job on my 96 F150 . I replaced the upper and lower ball joints shocks , wheel bearings ,rotor and brakes. So of course I need an alignment. I brought to a local shop they got front end alignment close but caster was out. They said I needed to replace with adjustable cam bushing and that they would also have to replace ball joints at a cost of $730.00. So I checked out the cost of parts bushings at$35each and have another alignment at $80 so with your knowledge and your doing this video and my muscles doing the work you saved my wife $580.00 I owe you a beer. Sweet no nonsense video if you ask me... I appreciate its an OBS but sure looks same as my early 99 here in the UK, So I'm a gunna go attempt it. As I fitted a 2" levelling kit but top of tire is leaning out and tire already getting whacked on its outer edge!!

Good video. I have a 97 F250 Heavy Duty, 2 wheel drive and it is wearing the tire on the inside and imagine that I have to fix what you have exampled here. It has the twin-I beam front suspension. Eventually, I want to put a 12 valve Cummins in this as I tow with it all the time.

My brain is wanting to thoroughly understand how that bushing works to affect the camber. My understanding is that the lower ball joint articulates and would allow the spindle to either tilt inward or tilt outward. Thing is that hole and that bushing is practically keeping it centered. And what are all of those notches in there? How does turning the bushing affect the camber?

Way more interesting to see the shop adjust those adjustable bushings for sixty dollars, when normally they charge eighty dollars for a regular car!

did your camber change due to raising/leveling the front?

I got a 1987 F-250 , I'm doing mine this coming week ,Did the lower ball joints and it kicked out the alignment bad and never knew about these kits , Trashed my front tires , Was all ways looking in the junkyards for the correct alignment and was never just right "Close" but no cigar , And herd about these kits and doing them this week some time with front tires and doing it the exact same way you are ..

It's best just to take it to an alignment shop as they will be able to replace the camber caster bushings with the ones that are necessary to straighten that out. But to answer your question, yes. If you want to save on labor you can install them yourself by following the video. But, make sure your truck doesn't have kingpins. You need to look under there and see those pinch bolts that hold the camber caster bushings in because some of the older trucks don't have camber caster bushings.

Is the procedure similar for the same truck but 4wd?

Hello I have a question for you, does your f250 have the 4200lb front axle? Have had to do alot of research just for parts as some places don't list the difference between the 2, tierods and ect are different, radius arm brackets, the truck also has the 8600 gvw so even brake pads can't be different I guess , start to get a death wobble and it's not the brakes or wheel bearing s (all brand new) just had to order in all ball joints and steering had to order from rock auto to find the metric parts

Foxboss9 thanks its crazy the difference between trucks , are truck is a 95, and we found for $800 , 3 years ago, had 68000 original miles , needed fenders and breaks exhaust work, now that she has 104k we're are getting into all maintenance, still need to find time to install the header, found the original ypipe was leaking at manifold so I used so furnace cement to seal been working great the last 8 months and till I can do the mods needed to change, thanks for all your videos they truly help guys like me , as you had said before in other videos, there really isn't much to watch on these trucks .

Freedom 1 they make different bushings that are individually calibrated. So an alignment shop would have quite a few individual ones. They would choose the one that is needed for your application. Or you can buy a set of fully adjustable ones that can be turned and have multiple calibrations on them. Like the ones in the video.

Tyler Jimenez depends... Really would let an alignment shop tell you how much correction will be needed.. The bushings I used were adjustable however if you are drastically out of alignment you may need to get a more severe correct bushing.. How much more will have to be determined by the shop handling the alignment..

Hi, I have a 1992 Ford F250 7.3L IDI, I have to tap the pedal down for the "first start of the day" to kick in the choke (higher RPM) and it stays high for about 3 mins. to warm up and settles down. If I dont tap the pedal it stays at regular RPM. any idea what could be the issue ?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the IDI engines and the way they run. Every engine that I've ever owned except for one has been gas. And the one diesel I had was a 84 Jetta turbo diesel

Probably... i have a e250 & it needs these in the front, so the camber can be adjusted. My last tires wore the inside bald when there was still some tread left on the rest of tires. I was rotating them, just the front end was wearing the insides bad

If it feels right, don't take it for alignment, l remember the last time I took my truck for alignment they disaligned it so bad that my stearing wheel was crooked, and over that they charged me.

After making suspension repairs, Always take your vehicle in for a realignment... Just make sure you take it to a "Good" shop... Sounds like you took your truck to a "Bad" shop.

Blue Collar Fishen 18 is it actually "play" or it sounds like a "return to center" issue.... I have a return to Center issue myself. What I have issue with is driving down a straight Flat Road I seem to have to constantly correct the vehicle. Sometimes more than other times. And if I turn the wheel in between 11 and 1 o'clock and release it at any point it does not return to the center easily, if at all. So if I turn my wheel to 11 o'clock and I let go the vehicle stays on path and the wheel stays at 11 o'clock. Same with the other direction too. Now I have talked it over with many alignment shops and they suggest that it is an inherent problem with the factory tire combination height and what they refer to as radius axial inclination. Basically with these trucks it's pretty much a built-in "rake" to the steering. Kind of like a chopper motorcycle has a real long "rake". What happens is there is not enough radial force on the tire to redirect the vehicle back straight again when it slightly gets offline. I have change tire pressures, changed my gearbox, changed my sway bar bushings front and rear, changed all my ball joints, had two different shops do alignments, changed all the shocks, and still I have a poor return to Center response. I suppose if I put smaller wider tires on my truck than what it calls for, then at that point it may help to some extent but then my speedometer is going to be off, and my gearing on the highway will it be a little bit less. I don't really plan on running small fat tires on the front and Factory tall skinny tires on the back. It could be also because I have low rolling-resistance michelins on there which I'm sure have less radial Force being exerted. Basically I've just come to live with it. I did get an alignment guy who is very aware of the problem that a lot of the older Fords had like this, and he did make some different adjustments on the Caster camber settings that did help slightly but it definitely does not go down the road like my old F150 did with shorter wider michelins then what this truck has. Again I've just learned to deal with it and it's almost not apparent to me any longer. However when I loan my vehicle out for whoever's moving or needs a truck, that's the first thing they mention is how it seems like the truck is wandering all over the road when in reality it's just that it doesn't correct itself as much as most vehicles do that don't have this problem. so in a nutshell what I would say is don't go chasing down the problem by throwing a bunch of new parts at it because I've already gone that route and all its got me is a bunch of new suspension parts at the cost of a decent penny.

Foxboss9 I can let go of the steering wheel on a straight road and it will drive for miles just fine. 11-1 the wheels don't move at all. I can deal with it,but my wife cant drive it at all and when I try to drive her 2017 f150 I over correct from ditch to ditch. Its comical.

Blue Collar Fishen 18 I know when I had my F150 it did have ball joints that had wear spots in them. What I mean was they were hard to break free from certain points in the steering. When I replace all the ball joints on that truck I did notice a difference immediately but again it wasn't because of wandering it was a return to Center problem. The way I see it is if all the suspension components are new and are adjusted correctly then it's an alignment issue. The alignment should keep you going down the road straight without wandering. Also make sure to check your rear axle alignment too. My truck got into an accident years ago and although I thought that everything was fine with the truck after I put it back together the first snow that we had it was all over the road come to find out that the axle flange on the driver side was bent and had the tire pointing in slightly. Not visibly enough to see until they put it on a rack to make sure that everything was straight and it was not.

While I applaud your easy to understand and follow videos, I cannot recommend this particular procedure. I just did this very same procedure, following the video instructions exactly...went like clockwork. Set the bushings to neutral as recommended. Took the truck to the shop to have them set the camber and castor and they proceeded to slam our efforts and ruin the new Moogs installed, uninstalling them and installing oem style bushings from their shop. Lost far more time and money (unreturnable Moogs) than saved and ended up no different than if I would have taken the truck UNTOUCHED to the shop for the alignment. :(

I had the shop actually take out one of my adjustables and put in a preset bushing however, if that shop charge you more then a standard alignment, then you need to find another shop. The fact that they have to replace bushings for a standard alignment means that they're going to have the same amount of money and time invested regardless. And if you would order the bushings using the link in the description , you can return them. Usually whenever these bushings are being replaced it is in addition to replacing the ball joints at the same time.

I do alignments for a living you will pay extra for me to adjust that. Who does alignments for $60.00?

Why? Because you didn't get to charge $80/hr for a repair that can be taught on a 20 minute KZread video? We have honest, local shops that won't nickle and dime customers that have in business for decades... I just had that same shop install rear coils, struts, and new strut mounts on a Kia Rondo for $50.... They also installed a used 80,000 mile trans for a 2005 Buick century for $300 and that included the cost of transmission too.. It all depends on they geographical area that people live in and what kind of incomes are being generated for that area... That is why Ohio is the 7th largest population in the US.. It's inexpensive to live here..

Did the shop complain about the bushings or charge extra for the alignment? Firestone is about to be sued over this. They got my truck on the rack and then tried to extort another $200 out of me, claiming they have to pull the steering nuckle off to align the front end. It was fun listening to these jackoffs trying to explain that one to me. In the end they refused to honor my lifetime alignment unless I give them another $200.

no, they mentioned that my return to center issue could be caused by ball joints "sticking" so I took my vehicle home installed the bushings(this video) then brought it back for them to finish the alignment correctly..
