These are exellent shots, the angles and perspectives that we don't see often. Many thanks for posting.
Loving the first sequences with the mechanics , not only making the last adjustments, but also building the cars in situ . Amazing times when the FIA was'nt stiking their inquisitive nose in every corner anxious to find somerhing they could ban.

@@simonjackson7269 the ground effect was a real concern for the safety of the drivers. FIA these days is like a sniffer dog taking advantage of the access they have behind the scenes and in to the garages to petulantly nit picking here and there and banning ridiculous thinks instead of, for example, making regulations that would force the better teams to share their technology and make F1 more competitive

Most beautiful cars ever. Look at 1980 cars of Ligier, Renault, Lotus, Williams, Alfa Romeo, Fittipaldi,.... That was an art!

Yeah i agree, after the 80s F1 cars just became so generic, same old same old every year, and the new F1 cars in 2019 are like Babies Go Kart toys , they have a stupid Halo over the drivers head for safety LOL , these guys get millions of dollars a year, there should be a risk involved, its just not fun to watch anymore without the risks.

I started following F1 around this time, instant love for the Ligier, still get excited when it turns up on the Goodwood Livestream. Such a pretty car.

and a different philosophy for every car and team, back when the science was brave but not too exact and when drivers were not just accountants behind the wheel.

Eindrucksvolle F1 Images von 40 Jahre zurück. Nächstes Jahr in Zandvoort will's noch Mal sehen mit Verstappen gewinnen. Grüsse aus Brasilien, Formel 1 Fan.

Just watching at the names in the starting grid speaks about the quality of the drivers that F1 used to have...
F1 was so simple back then, no wonder the costs are actually low enough that the grid was full beyond capacity.

Not so simple, active suspension, the start of computer controlled cars,Turbo and ground effects, basically like group B Rally.
this was my first grand prix ever as spectator at 16, you never forget a first! funny how F1 evolved, unthinkable now that mechanics are farting around in a tent in the dirt! you could walk the pits as spectator and have a ferrari rolled almost over your foot when walking through the tents of different teams, see drivers and mechanics eat their pasta...good old days
A Much more challenging track than the modern era, Legendary paddock! shame no racing footage
For some of these greats...this cirquit was a nightmare...
The best days of F1!!!!! An actual drivers Championship! Not a Mercedes Parade and drivers who are told everything.

Het kwam uiteindelijk pas terug in 2021 en inmiddels 3x gewonnen door Max Verstappen 🙂

Fittipaldi, Jones, Reutemann, Piquet, Fittipaldi, Rosberg, Pironi, Villeneuve, Scheckter, Andretti, De Angelis, Arnoux, Patrese, Laffite, Mansell, Prost, Watson...That was an exceptionally talented and competitive grid. Arguably one of the best ever. Incredible.

Those GPA helmets from this era were the best helmets ever. Not sure how safe they were, but they look so cool.

@fiarandompenaltygeneratorm5044 I totally get you, liked them a lot too, but not so save, regretably, when Gilles Villeneuve got thrown out of his car when he crashed at Zolder in Belgium in 1982, you could see the helmet fly of his head before he landed in the fence....too much gravity for those helmets, dont think that a helmet could have saved his life, but still

Ik heb het eerste gedeelte, maar kan het niet posten ivm copyright. De uitzending werd diverse (!) malen onderbroken door andere sporten.

Many would see this race significance as not the Williams, Renault battle up front but for the return of form of the Lotus team with Andretti, Se Angelis and the third car entry for the most unexpected choice of aircfatsman Mansell ( a bumptious Midlander always regarded as the start of the social decline of motor racing a man hated by the cultured and whose astonishing speed was usually attributed to the strength required by Coln chapmans other traversity the ground effect cars- which introduced fighter pilot g forces to GP) Mansell qualified in 17th only a quarter of a sceocnd slower than DE Angelis seen as a potnetial SEnna the the time and a third of second slower than Andretti. Manselll had qualitied with a broken back and leg in a kamikazee Paul Tracy or DE Cessaris do or die fast lap. Over the next five years he would showed a ffew fllashes of speed and the odd podisum but mainly just lost it repeately Paul Tacey or De Cessaris,

Ze hadden wat dubstep uit 2015 met een tijdmachine teruggestuurd maar toen bleek dat ze bij de NOS in 1980 geen MP3 bestanden konden afspelen. Toen maar wat prog rock eroverheen gedaan. Goede keuze wat mij betreft :P
En nu, 40 jaar later...
in 2.4 sec....24 macchine.....yesssss
en simplifiant, tu préfères etre jeune ou vieux ,,
denk dat ze nu onder een minuut qualificeren

Jammer dat de NOS dat vreselijke muziekje eronder moest zetten.
VEEL minder of misschien wel helemaal geen elektronica in die auto's....Ze hadden toen nog een reserve auto tot hun beschikking......

Andretti]s last great drive in a Lotus and at 41 he showed he was stilll the hardest most professional driver of all. Watch the shere terror on Jody Scheckter face when he was told at Anderstrop M SWeededn that Mario rather than Chrsi Amon would start alongside him in the Swedish GP. This is the debut of Nigel Mansell, given the number three drive for the race because in a total tragedy Geoff Lee had signed to Ensign for the rest of the season. Stephen South had crashed terribly. Andretti was obviously only cruising in practice and Mansells qualifying effort with many broken bones but have suggested to Mario just how fas tthe Loutus would be on just about the last circuit and time a traditional Lotus track would mean anything. If I was dreaming I would say this is the last race in GP time that I would have wanted to attempt for real and I believe that Lotus *0 was so quick that day that almost any young man of a type could have qualified, myself at Von Trips spec then 5.11. and 9 stone ( a 0,7 sec advantage here)
