It is so unfortunate for Rubens that as soon as he peaked, so did Schumacher. If Schumacher were not in the picture, Rubens would have had two championships in that car. His driving is so amazingly entertaining and brilliant, that is something statistics and numbers cannot illustrate.

He was allowed to win. Fact is,. he was simply no match for Schumacher during the course of the season. He was also very very unlucky but then again, he was never able to beat MIchael consistently. He had his chance with Brawn GP and see, he lost to his teammate. Some drivers (Barrichello, Irvine, Coulthard, Webber) are just not good enough to beat better teammates. So Barrichello only had a chance if he was the only one driving a Ferrari at that time.

bowlchamps37 In 2009 he had several problems in his car compared to Button's car. From the first race he had problems with the anti stall, which made him lose positions in some starts and in some pit stops. The team needed to change the brake supplier of his car because the brakes were suffering from overheating, so it was necessary to stop using the aerodynamic caps of the rear wheels. Problems with the brakes and hubcaps increased lap times by 0.2 seconds/lap. "Errors" of team strategy made him lose important points in two races. Even with this disproportionate amount of problems he was able to reach the penultimate race with chances of maintaining the title race of the season.And he won races when the Brawn GP no longer had the best car. Just to remember some other problems, in Hungary happened the incident with the part of his car, that beat and retired Felipe Massa of the season. In Spa he again had problems with the anti stall, which put him in the last position before the first corner at the start, and at the end of the race he was in the points zone and with the car on fire. So in 2009 Button relied on these incidents and problems with Barrichello's car to be champion. Of course, Button had merits to take advantage of the favorable situation. and have a great race in Monaco that year.

Rubens was one of the best wheel to wheel racer ever! Pure class, RACE ANIMAL! And sooo clean late braker, that braking on the dirt and grass on montoya EPIC! also that bmw power INSANE!!

Os de hoje tem mais potências que os v10.V6 turbo passa de 1000 mil cavalos os v10 tinham 950 mais quebravam bastantes.

That first overtake on Montoya looked more like evasive action than anything else! I think he was caught out by how early Montoya braked.

Una verdadera lástima que Barrichello, con el talento que tenía, haya tenido que estar a la sombra de Schumacher. De haber podido pelear 50 y 50 con el alemán, no sé si Schumacher hubiese ganado tantos títulos.
