Damn, Heidfeld's two double overtakes at 4:35 and 6:14 were awesome! I've always thought he was quite underrated as a driver.

Really not bad!

Nick Heidfeld often gets overlooked in this race, but the truth is that his race was impressive in his own right. In 2008 he was more often than not out qualified and out raced by Kubica. But at Silverstone, he not only out qualified Kubica, but he was able to make almost everyone else look like they were standing still. If Hamilton had had a problem of some sort, Heidfeld could have won

It seems that Ferrari were shown to be out of their depth (excuse the pun) in the wet that weekend. Got the forecast wrong at the first stops and the car was seemingly always trying to swap ends on the drivers (aside from Massa's 5 spins, Raikkonen had a wild oversteering moment on the way to the grid on his out lap, spun at Bridge around the second scheduled pit stop window when the rain intensified and out of Luffield around the same time)

@@SiVlog1989 Not so fair. In Monza finished P6, ahead of Hamilton but away of Vettel in a Toro Rosso, the winner. Massa had better car than Hamilton, without so driver mistakes he could have be world champion.

@@javiergarrido6088 you mentioned Monza, if anything, McLaren made the bigger mistake that weekend. They sent Hamilton out on Intermediate tyres in Q2 as the rain got worse again, leaving him 15th. Massa did all he could in a car that was set up for dry conditions, qualifying 6th, but crucially ahead of Hamilton. In a championship battle as close as that was, on days when the underdog outperforms the front runners, every point matters. Massa finished ahead of Hamilton, that was job done as far as that particular race was concerned and on to the next race. Races where drivers are down the order can be more crucial to the championship than normal races. The following (infamous) race in Singapore was another one, but for very different reasons of course. Yes, Massa made mistakes in 2008 that probably cost him the championship, but let's not forget, Hamilton made mistakes too (Bahrain, lost 8 places just at the start and then lost his front wing, dropping him out contention, finishing P13. Canada, lost places in the pits during the safety car, embarrassingly, crashed into the back of Raikkonen while the latter was stationary at the red light on pit exit, DNF. France, overtook Vettel off track, drive through penalty, didn't finish in the points, P10 finish. Belgium, half spun on lap 2, letting Raikkonen through then controversially getting penalised for gaining an advantage against Raikkonen despite letting him through won on track, but dropped to P3 behind Massa and Heidfeld. Japan, like Bahrain, messed up the start, damaged his tyres, tipped into a spin by Massa on lap 2, drive through penalty, way out of contention, finished P12)

I miss this version of silverstone circuit.

Hamilton, Heidfeld, Barrichello and Raikkonen were the best in the race. I believe that if Ferrari didn't make a mistake with kimi in the first pitstop, it would have won the race

He did quite well in Monaco and Monza in the wet (both 2008 races), so he is not that bad after all. I think he had a wrong setup and that was the main problem here...

​@@d.a.5135 Monza -> ahead of his teamate and Hamilton as well. Monaco -> again ahead of Kimi and finished on the podium. Yes he made one mistake that cost him the win, but one error during 78 laps in narrow streets is in my view still excellent performance. Interlagos -> kept a cool head and won in mixed conditions. Don't be so biased ;)

Before the first pit stops kimi was way faster than hamilton and caught hamilton. Ferrari just ruined the strategy and he fell back a lot. In the end finished 4th which wasnpretty impressive since the strategy was so bad. Kimi could have fought for the win that day.

So that's a quick look at McLaren, let's hop over to Ferrari and see how they are doing. 1:11 Cue 'trololol'

The Title should be Onboard Slipping & Sliding British Grand prix 2008..... The majority onboard is car spinning and sliding 80% being Ferrari only..sad though no drastic development seen since schumacher left in 2006...Only fast on straights rest no improvement at all on this car till date.
