Thanks for the review! Which of the two Strikes - V3 vs V2 - would you recommend for a beginner?

The V2 is a better beginner wing, the V3 lack of low end means you need a good pump technique or you have to size up. So of the two I would pick the V2 for a beginner. Of course we now have the V4 that I just receieved for test - that may change things as supposedly the low end is much better than the V3.

@@Wing-TipsThnx man, helps a lot! V4 is out of scope: too new, too expensive.

Great review. I bought the 5m as a beginner/intermediate and the low end was a struggle. A few months down the line it is a bit better though - getting used to it and stretch I suppose. Last week I had the chance to ride it back to back with a 2024 Unit 4.5m in solid 20 knots or so. Unit more grunt/power on tap and easier take off even though it was .5m smaller. The Strike did seem to go faster though once up and riding, and was more stable when flagged out. I only was on the Unit for 5 minutes though so not sure if it was just bad timed wind shifts - would you agree that the Strike is less nervous when flagged out?

yes the Strike is less nervous flagged out - it has less dihedral than the Unit. So the Unit will tack more cleanly for example due to that but the Strike will flag more stable (and is also a bit lighter - which also helps).

I don’t understand why the strike did not benefit from the nano coating, cutting corners here I think.

I think it was just too early in their development cycle as the Swing got it around 6 months later, along with improved semi-rigid handles. So I just think this is an issue of what they had at the time rather than anything else.

Would you recommend the strike or the swing v3 for high wind when choosing 3m2 as wing size? Or a unit v4. I'm a intermediate 57 yo rider. Thanks

in 3m sizes wings tend to get a lot more twitchy and move around more - so I think this really depends on what you want. If you are primarily riding waves then the Swing. If you are more freeride orientated then it comes down to handle preferences and wind range - if you really like hard handles then the Unit, otherwise the Strike. The difference between Strike and Unit is the Unit has less top end, so you will get more range of wind with the Strike at the top end but you will get more grunt at the low end from the Unit.

@@Wing-Tips I see thanks. I already have the swing V3 5.5m2 and the Unit V4 4m2. In regard to my age and stress that can be applied to my shoulder I'm leaning toward a 3m2 that is confortable in the gust. Riding most of the time in lake but would really like to ride the swell. Seems to be lot of fun.
