Status, hazards (baring T-spikes) and multi hit moves are the counter to these strats. Thats why it only works against either gimmick teams, extremely poorly built teams or new players.

​@@VortyxZeroNo F.E.A.R. Pokemon is perfect. Donphn is close to perfection. It has a priority move(Ice Shard), Sturdy(which can spare an item slot for Shell Bell), Endeavor. However, Shell Bell may not always heal it back to full as Donlahm's level threshold is level 25. Plus, Donphan has good bulk.

@@nothingbutpain863 if you include pokemon imported from Go, it can be level 1 legally. it's kind of lame that Showdown still hasn't been updated to account for this possibility. despite Ice Shard being an egg move, you can also put that onto such a Donphan by using a Mirror Herb in gen 9.

It sorta depends, it's obviously not meta but I climbed pretty high up Showdown ladder (for what that's worth) with a fear probopass. That Pokemon has a lot of answers to things that check fear with reads. It has magic coat to fight status effects, traps, and taunt. And then it's immune to sand and being poisoned. The only real counter is abilities like mold breaker, moves that ignore sturdy, and double hitting moves. And you can pretty easily read those things and switch, bringing the pokemon out later. If you try to make all your pokemon fear it's bad but just having one can be good. Fear Probopass also sets rocks and can be a good lead because of that too.

Well yeah of course you didn't kill him if Arceus is in a fight he's likely going to abide by the rules even though he doesn't have to After all he is able to say no to physics logic and timelines whenever he wants so if he loses it's probably an intended feature of life that he's created and could undo at any point in time

For anyone wanting to beat F.E.A.R Aron, you can use entry hazards, status, suicide mons (explosion), negative priority/going last (Dragon Tail, Trick Room), Ghost types (works unless they use a Scrappy mon, very rare btw), and of course MultiHit moves (Rock Blast, Dual Wingbeat, Triple Kick/Axel).

You’d need to switch the ability, but then it doesn’t have sturdy. So sadly, you can’t make Aron both have Sturdy and Wonder Gaurd

@@SuperJman1111 this is pretty much all speculation but from what I understand is that sturdy allows you to live on 1 hp if u are at full health and would otherwise be Ko’ed. so if 1 hp is ur full health from the beginning then technically ur always at full health even if sturdy procs

Other cool ones are the Cottenee prankster substitute one with leech seed and focus sash and Nosepass/Probopass (or pineco but no sand protection) with berry juice and toxic, painsplit and protect (you also have options for the last move, can run sandtomb to hit steels or endure to have a buffer against entry hazards).

@@slugmaguts69 The effect sturdy that a Pokémon has can only be used once per battle if I’m not mistaken, I don’t quite remember if if a Pokémon dies and you bring it back I don’t remember if The effect sturdy can be used again at. What I mean by once per battle, if you attack whatever Pokémon has it all the way down to one HP and then you attack again before it can attack and you use quick attack then it’s just gonna get rid of that one HP and it’s dead

I think the funny thing is all you need to do to counter it is have a rapid spinner so you can’t get stealth rocked, but Aron also learns protect by level up so predicting an explosion would be crazy

Its also worth noting that fear strats put a lot of power in your opponent’s hand. Yes your rattata might be able to trade with something but even if your opponent has no answers they still get a lot of influence over *which* mon trades for rattatta. Essentially they get to choose which 5 they want to use to play you 5v5
