Love the animated version, Dr. Carveth. I️ am envious of those fortunate enough to be a participant of your class. You are a generous teacher and world citizen. Thank you so much for sharing your unique perspective.

Tyler, Quite right, I agree. There is much in so-called Christianity that I personally feel is entirely out of sync with what I value in the Christian tradition.

He comments at ~1:25:00 about the difference between therapists operating between compliance vs ethics, Ive made similar comments about the legal justice system in Kansas. Our society really does need to start pushing ethics vs compliance; notions of love vs hate come to mind.

Hi Dr. Carveth, can you possibly recommend a reference for Tillich's rationale (as you've phrased it), "the first step toward authentic religion is atheism" and "clearing a space for the god beyond god?" I'd love to read about it. Thank you!

That stuffed animal test you mentioned in refutation of Freud reminded me of Rawls's Veil of Ignorance (why it is necessary in the adult world)

I see the connection, but Rawls is assuming a choice based on rational self-interest whereas the children are choosing on a different basis, a kind of altruism partially inborn and partially grounded in identification with the nurturer.

"God is love" is actually John the Beloved/Evangelist, not Paul. (1 John 4:16) but I'll let you off :)
