    Thanks, Brad. Yep, working down here in So Cal is rarely a rusty mess.

    Have a Northern truck, have done a 4.30 swap on the front and rear axles. Can confirm I have NEVER been able to pull a hub like that. Even the Axle extensions on my F-350 won't come off like that. Also noticed that there was no outer axle seals on the 2014 F-250 4WD Dana axle. It has a plastic cover. Even the inner seals are different than what was in TSO.

    Excellent video! I purchased the maintenance manual (cd) and it states you use all these fancy tools. Apparently, all I need is a ball peen hammer, lol! Then again, I live up north.

    and the shitty thing is there isnt any way to do that change but to go thru all that work to get to them. Always amazes me how one part can lead to an expensive repair bill in order for the fix to be done right. Totally agree to replace both seals while your in there, may as well rather then having to go back in and do it later for other.

    Never seen a unit bearing come off so easily, 20 pound sledge is needed around here and we are not even an area where road salt is used. Unit bearings are not cheap the set I bought for my 05 350 were 600 each Canadian that was after market, from Ford I was looking at 800 each. My truck had 180,000kms (112,000 miles) the factory bearings were pooched, truck has stock tire size.

    I currently have one of these torn apart I’ve gotta put back together tomorrow and that axle was super tight getting it out of the knuckle, I see there’s a special tool you can use to beat the axle back in so it goes far enough into the knuckle and diff, do you use anything like that or are they usually not an issue going back in?

  • @flmmaz

    @flmmaz

    5 жыл бұрын

    You really need the tool you are talking about. It seats the seal on the axle stub at the correct depth in the knuckle and prevents it from getting damaged. I wish I could have filmed reassembly.

    flmmaz well dang that’s sort of unfortunate I had called a few parts stores on the way home and no one had one readily available, if you just put the axle in and tab the end with a soft face dead blow it should bottom out anyway should it not or is it possible to go too far in with it

    Hello I’m working on a 2014 f250 and wheel bearing is not going in far enough to install snap ring any suggestions?

  • @defekticon

    Got a question about alignment, I've had a 2011 and a 2014 Superduty, both have had a hard pull to the left. Toe and camber are always in spec, but Caster is off. Normal chain alignment shops won't touch the caster on these trucks. Is this something that I can get fixed at a ford dealer? My understanding is that there are caster sleeves in the hubs where the ball joint sits that need to be replaced/adjusted.

  • @flmmaz

    @flmmaz

    7 жыл бұрын

    Most Ford dealers can handle that job with ease, you are correct on the adjustment sleeves. They sit under the upper ball joint retaining nut and can be replaced with many different options to get you into spec.

    Gossip? That what'n gossip, that was a conversation geared toward poking fun at my co-worker who I was conversing with (who is good for it btw). The person we were talking about might as well be a fictional character in a novel. whom I will most likely never meet. Now if you want some gossip I can set the camera up in the front of the shop, all you can handle. Either that or I can take it to any local church on any typical Sunday five minutes before the sermon. lol
