The 169th Fighter Wing, in collaboration with NORAD's Continental U.S. Region and Eastern Air Defense Sector, alongside the FAA, hosted the Southeast Aerospace Control Alert Conference at McEntire Joint National Guard Base, S.C., from June 5-7, 2018. This conference aimed to enhance homeland defense capabilities through joint training exercises, featuring F-16 fighter jets from the South Carolina Air National Guard's 169th FW, MH-65D Dolphin helicopters from USCG Air Station Atlantic City's Rotary Wing Air Intercept Squadron, and South Carolina Wing Civil Air Patrol aircraft and crews. Watch as these teams refine their tactical air-intercept procedures. (Courtesy of U.S. Air National Guard video B-ROLL by Master Sgt. Caycee Watson)

The video was disjointed. The South Carolina jets in the hangar had no wing-tip mounted missiles and the jets taking off were so equipped.

Yea, taking off from South Carolina and escorting TU-95s near Iceland (see how the background changes.) Also some of the aircraft tail numbers changed - so essentially a spliced together clips. But, does show what goes into launching an aircraft. A real scramble would be much shorter and a lot of these steps would have been done ahead of tim.@@IrLosin

Trust me, this was quick. I've been on the flight line for an SR-71 launch and it took 37 mins from pilot entry to brake release on the runway. About 15 minutes at Last Chance. The aircraft was clean and ready to go at pilot entry, no flags to pull. The best bit is when they pressurize the fuel tanks and the Blackbird starts pouring fuel and splashes down the taxiway.

Engine start takes more than a minute, ins alignment takes 90 seconds circuit checks something close to a minute and turning on all the instruments takes some time too so they basically did this as fast as possible

Well ill tell you this is about as fast as it can be the ins alignment takes about 8 minutes in normal situations and 90 seconds in scramble situations all other instruments also cost time to check which they did in basically no time… if they didn’t do all that they wouldn’t have a properly working aircraft

First thing I noticed was the F-16s taking off, weren’t the ones that taxied out. I guess you use the footage you can get.😄 Having years of experience on the F-16, I can definitely appreciate the MITO takeoffs! We would do what we called a “surge”. 4 sorties with a “hot-pit” between them. Refuel & reload with engine running and pilot in the seat. Amazing aircraft!

The linked video was done for a movie, but it illustrates what Minimum Interval Take Off (MITO) meant during the Cold War. These B-52s took off from the same runway 15 seconds apart. They immediately peal off in different directions to evade incoming Russian nukes. The black exhaust is unburned fuel from the water injection use to get extra thrust for takeoff. kzread.info/dash/bejne/daVqqtKxqdXOqdI.html

Amazing that it "only" took 3.5 minutes to get on the runway when they're intercepting enemy aircraft. Not to mention, the planes in the hangar had no armament on them but they were loaded for bear when they got airborne. When did they have time to load the missiles between when they left the hangar and when the got on the runway for take-off? Oh yeah, the swept wing design of the aircraft flying with the bombers is indicative of the Tomcat, not the F16.

At the time of the emergency, were there cameramen already in the region? We are indeed in modernity. From Brazil

Wow, I didn't realise how long it takes to get in the air, didn't seem in a rush at all. Seen UK typhoons on an alert drill and seemed much more of an urgency to get airborne, but what do I know haha

This was a hodgepodge of clips. S. Carolina guard F16s on a regular strip alert launch (typically 30 min). No missiles loaded. The base was green and forested. Russians? No where nearby. Then they cut to different clips of afterburner takeoffs. Pilots don't typically use up the fuel for those. Then they cut to a map of Iceland? The title of this clip is not even close to what is shows.

I was a flightline guard for a SAC B-52 wing. Those big babies got to the runway faster than these did.

You can tell this is Air force. The Navy would have been off the deck and mission accomplished before they even left the ground.

Hmmm if that was a rush I’ve seen quicker disabled buggies, and if they were going to intercept why was there nothing on the rails? What were they going to do deliver a strongly worded letter ?

I like how they got a new paintjob and armament load from the time they left the hanger to the time of takeoff. Additionally, a SSGT piloting? Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you must be a commissioned officer to pilot.

The ones that left the hangers had no weapons on the wings. The ones in the air are armed, obviously different aircraft to the ones on the ground.
