F-14 Tomcat and F-16 Fighting Falcon over SoCal (no sound)

An F-14 and F-16 do formation flying, chase each other around, and do some low flying over the SoCal coast. No sound.

    Never imagined I would be watching close to 25 minutes of F-14 video without sound, let alone close to 5 minutes at the end with static video 😁... F-14 baby 👍😘

    What a gorgeous airplane the Tomcat was.... and for me it looks manouver very well. For a airplane that sice. I wish the build it again, with modern material, lot of carbon. And modern avionics. Maybe trust vectoring. But in scale 1to1 shape. It's the most beautifull fighterjet if ever build. I am in love with the cat, at the first Time I see it in Magazine. I think Wenn I right remember it calls Aero, Magazine. and I was jung maby 12 or 13. Now I was 45... I fly aerobatic glider mdm1fox...in Austrian. Every time I see a Tomcat in a older magazine or in a you tube video. my Heart is in Love.

    They were used to train the Navy F-14 pilots to dog fight against simulated MIGs essentially to replace the aging F-5E that could no longer mimic the newer MIG-27 and MIG-29 characterstics. Navy ordered the F-16 with the J-79 engine in 1986 and they arrived in 1988. They were called Vipers. They were stripped out of a lot of the equipment to make it more difficult for the F-14 pilots to dog fight against. They only lasted 3 years before the Vipers started to have serious reliability issues and airframe cracks due to being pushed over their limits too often.

    they ddid not use the viper with J79. they used the F16 with GE110

    @@KLRGT500KR actually, the J79 F-16 never got into production. The USN got the GE F110 engined version initially, which is the same engine as was in the B & D model F-14s. The J79 version was a concept version they created to possibly sell to overseas clients on a budget, but it never took off.
