    Growing up as a kid in the 90’s I hunted with an old compound bow with no sights, shooting instinctively. As I got older and upgraded I obviously switched to pins but was never totally comfortable with them. Part of me always wanted to use my brain rather than the sights. And watching Tim Wells hunt shooting instinctively made me consider going back but I didn’t out of fear. This sight combines a sight and shooting instinctively. Beyond brilliant. Much more natural than pins.

    I love my EZ V. By far the best sight I’ve ever put on a bow. I normally don’t take shots over 30 yards. But I’m much more accurate beyond 30 then I’ve ever been with pin sights. My shooting has also become much more instinctual with this sight. Anyone who says this sight is a gimmick has no idea what they are talking about. They are usually the ones saying I’ve killed 35,000 deer, from 500 yards, with a bow I made, from a tree in my backyard. Seams to be one on every EZ V video. I’ll never shoot another sight. Granting I hunt, I don’t shoot in competitions.

    I've been shooting my EZV for about 2 years now and I was shocked at how accurate it made me.. I had never shot multiple robin hoods in a months time. If you have an arrow in a target it instinctivly will make you focus on that spot when you shoot.

    I've got an EZV sight, after shooting trad for years thought it would help me out transitioning to a compound (arthritis in the string hand sucks), I love the concept, I noticed you really have to shoot a lot to get it down, because I could not shoot as much as I would like and shooting a slower bow with heavyish arrows I was struggling, so put the pins back on, recently added more weight to my arrows (FOC), so resight in, thinking of going back to the V, great video, thanks.

    1st....great job in presenting. You present extremely well. Thanks for the overview. I shoot 3 pin spot hog with a dial. I don't change the dial except for shoots which is rare for me. I've always liked shooting between pins. I want to see my target. This may be the ticket. The fact that there's a self-ranging element -- FANTASTIC. Deer move a lot and you can't remember everything that you ranged. Great vid!

    I think the Ranch Fairy said it best when talking about vertical/centering. Your brain tells your body/arm to keep the target where it is "supposed" to be. My groups rarely miss left and right . (even when I first started shooting it a couple months back). Love the fact that I wont really need to be fiddling with ranging on those "last second" scenarios. I normally mentally range objects ahead of time but when a target shows up..."wait was 40 that tree? lol". This is awesome for the other times taking a shot in open areas etc.

    Great review! Thanks for taking the time to review this sight. I've watched a bunch of vid reviews on this sight and yours is tops, explains it better than the vids on the EZV website. I've been on the fence about this sight but your review has almost convinced me to take the plunge. One question, how far (in inches) is the farthest the sight extends from the front of the riser? Reason I ask is I actually prefer my sight a tad longer out so my sight housing matches up with my peep sight. Thanks for sharing the review and thanks in advance for a measurement if possible!

  • @JamesSmullins

    I have used this sight for a year and love it. I did use a different sized target to set it up for even more pin point accuracy. I used a 9 inch paper plate instead of the supplied target and as a result have been able to head shot squirrels and body hit the invasive European sparrows which are quite small. Doing that means only heart and lungs are within the v and that means better kill shots on deer sized game. I am thinking about using a six inch plate and shrinking the target zone even more. It also helped me due to aging eyesight where pins would cause focus issues and this solved that. I am planning on getting rid of the peep and going to a nose button to even further eliminate focus issues.

    I switched from a kisser button I used for years & now shoot the nose button. I wear a mask always & the nose button helps u with the anchor where the peep was useless. A little tip is that u can put some strong tape on the sight so if u want to shoot without the peep u just move the sight over. Same goes if u decide to go back to the peep. Really like how u can change the tilt on the sight housing which is also very instinctual.

    I've been contemplating this. For me it is the auto-ranging capability. As a precision shooter from a young age, target panic isn't really an issue for me, but I did hit a doe in no-man's land last year because I used the wrong pin in the heat of the moment. I also let down on the biggest buck of my life because he was at least 35-40 out in an open field where I had no range landmarks. I didn't want to shoot that far without ranging, since a few yards makes a big difference that far out. He ran off while I was pulling out my range finder. In both instances, I think the EZV might have made the kill.

    I picked up a used React V5 recently. Seemed liked a nice combo between a multi pin and a single pin. Unfortunately with my 26" draw length and arrow weight, my bow is too slow for the React technology to work accurately at longer distances. So between your video and DIY Sportsman's, I am really intrigued by the EZ V. I have some target panic and have not had much success bowhunting partly due to that. So I may be placing an order for one soon.

Seriously 10 shots later and it’s dialed in, and I’m touching arrows every grouping, even from unknown yardages. No multi pin adjustments. Just wild. I never thought I could group that good even with pins! Over and over. I’m scared to robinhood arrows. So much fun to shoot.

    I am 60 years old but about the time I turned 50, my eyesight started to get old as well and I started needing bifocals. the problem with that is I could not focus on something close (pin) and something far (target) at the same time like I could do when I was younger. So I found the best compromise was to let the pin blur and focus on the target. With the EZV, I believe that problem goes away as I can now focus on the target and bracket it with blurry tick marks. This could be a game changer for older archers that are optically challenged like me. Ordering one tomorrow.

    Aaron Lasco I’m sure I could’ve spent more time practicing with your sight this summer, but this is exactly the issue I’m dealing with. Guess I’m not ready to hunt with it this season because I keep on letting my arrow go before dropping the tic marks down low enough for my preference. So have you or anyone done any tutorials yet on how to be better at aiming at the lower one third of the animal, or the top of the heart? Down here in the south our deer are small, shots are usually short, and the tendency is to shoot high already when you’re up in a tree. So I don’t feel ready to climb a tree with the EZ V just yet, and I’m just looking for any help I can get.

    This is exactly what I’m dealing with. I keep on shooting my EZ V high on my 3D. I frame the deer center mass, but tend to let my arrow go before dropping the tic marks down (to the lower 1/3 or approximately the top of the heart.)

  • @josephtreadlightly5686

    @josephtreadlightly5686

    @@averagejackarcheryThanks, my Sapphire will be here Tuesday. My best of 3 arrow builds this year is the VAP TKO's in a 300 spine with the Valkyrie full steel system led by the short Jag 210. My total weight is 570 grains with 20.5% FOC. I will most likely use the 240 insert. I'm only hunting areas from killer 🌳 in my saddle @ close range. I'm going to shrink the kill zone on my new paper targets since I think it will make me a better shot. I go Pro & but a dot towards the bottom of the insert as just a reference spot. My brain does the rest. I've been positioning my 3D targets so I can use them as backstops. I try to hit a small twig which is between me & the target. It serves a dual purpose. I'm trying to shoot something very fine & when I hit it I like to see the affects of the shot placement on the target after the twig is struck. The only twig that was hit & fell to the ground was with a Victory Xtorsion with a 125 grain ethics insert/outsert. It didn't change the shot, maybe by a 1/2" @ the most. All with a Prime CT-5 @ 60 lbs. with a 30.25" draw. Depending on the insert testing I might turn the bow up to 63 lbs. if I feel that it helps. Really like that companies made bows with 65 lb. limbs with great efficiency & quietness. Especially with heavier, well tuned arrows.

Right now Cabelas has three different rangefinders for under $150. Then you also have the rangefinder for other hunting/shooting uses.
