    If there has ever been software that you should not pirate, it's Toontrack's drummer software. Their prices are BEYOND fair, especially if you can find them on sale. I picked up EZdrummer for like $79 bucks this holiday season. Both of these products are by far the best sounding and easiest drum software. Of course, there are several copycats out now, but this is the way to go! I friggin LOVE Toontrack products.

    Couldn't agree more. Very fair price. I will say any musician shouldn't pirate any music software anyway, for legal reasons etc, but the price for this felt much more worth it than pro tools did.

    Yup, you're right about piracy, as well. I haven't purchased Pro Tools in years. I bought an earlier version of it (and thought it was great.) But then I switched to mainly Logic, and now I'm on Logic Pro X which is also a *very very* reasonable price at just $199.

    EZ Drummer 2 is shit. Superior Drummer 2 is over-convoluted.

    It´s much easier to make SD sound like real drums because they respond to processing much like real drums. To me the Roots library is by far the most realistic sounding and it´s surprisingly flexible as well as the drums respond beautifully to tweaks both onboard SD and in the DAW mixer.

    Comparing EzDrummer with Superior Drummer is like comparing a Bicycle to a Harley. Superior Drummer does everything EzDrummer does, can load all the packs EzDrummer has plus has more control.

    It is a pity that ez drummer does not allow mapping drum components to chosen keys on midi keyboard/pad!!! ez drummer seems to allow recording of user mouse clicks on drum components to a midi file, which u can drag into DAW's ez drummer track I'm not sure that u can do this with superior drummer (where basically u'r drum hits are recorded to audio track (ie wav file rather than midi file)). I think u need to be able to tap out u'r own little rhythms rather than just rely on preset patterns and it helps if u can map the drum items to midi controller keys. It is good though to record u'r rhythms to midi format where they can be easily edited in DAW

    How do we move the x-drums around the GUI instead of having them stuck in the top right corner? Dragging and moving doesn't work at all for me.

    If I remember correctly, it doesn't work if you're using the "generic image" for the X-Drums. I think, you have to press the right mouse button and drag them around.

    Hi, can anybody please answer a question for me? If I buy superior drummer from a store(hard copy) instead of the online download from toontrack, How do I receive the software updates that occur from time to time? Would I be able to get the updates? Thank you I plan on buying superior drummer 2.0 soon... Can't wait..

    might be late, but yes. each cymbal has articulations, and most of them also have choking. you can set the choke delay of each individual cymbal.

    Now that Perfect Drummer v1.5 has been released, it pisses over both EZD and SD, in both usability and sound quality.

    Do any of the drum software let you create/edit a track by playing with the keyboard (the way you would on an electric piano), or with a music sheet format?

  • @BlondPanda

    You can, but your options for remapping individual keys to individual drum hits are very limited. In Superiour Drummer you have full control over what key triggers what sound.

    Honestly I don't how anyone can say EZdrummer is preferable with its messed up MIDI editing capability (no piano roll than I can find)

  • @BlondPanda

    @BlondPanda

    Probably since most DAWs already feature a piano roll. The song writer in EZ Drummer 2 are simple, because they are supposed to present a simple way for artists to write drum parts to their songs.

    EZDrummer 2 is shit. The selection of snares in their expansion packs is appalling, many sounding far too metallic and producing an annoying ringing sound when a bit of distortion is applied that can't be removed with EQ without losing impact, whilst others sound like hitting a wooden box. The mixer is far too restricted, with control over the individual components being dependant upon which expansion pack is used. Toontrack's customer service over email tends to be unhelpful too, even occasionally sarcastic. Thankfully, I didn't waste my money on this garbage product, having tried a friend's version out for a few days.
