eyedea's music is that perfect little medicine

The end is talking about when he won the HBO 2001 Blaze Battles. He took 1st place and he also won Scribble Jam before that as well which is one of the biggest freestyle battle tournaments you could achieve winning at the time and he was only like 18. He was more known for his crazy off the top ability to freestyle then he was for his recorded work for a long time. I've seen him live a few time before he died and he would sit around smoke a cig and chill after the shows. Super nice guy. His recorded work is actually amazing though and extremely real philosophical and thought provoking. He is an extremely unique lyricist and he died WAY too young He is actually one of the original members on Rhymesayers. He was there from the jump touring with atmosphere and was the one that talked Brother Ali into doing Scribble Jam before he was putting out work on Rhymesayers. You should really listen to some of his work... look up Eyedea & Slug on Sway in the morning. That off the top freestyle will show you how quick he thinks with nothing pre-written. It's really off the top.

He will forever remain one of my most favorite human beings to ever exist. This man showed me light in my darkest times.. Such a beautiful man he was. I remember the day when he passed so vividly. I was in high school. My friend had broke the news to me on the ride home. My world turned upside down. Tears involuntarily poured out of my face most of the day. I will remember him till the day eye die. Love you Mikey , always and forever.

Thanks for giving him a listen. He's been a sort of 'spiritual advisor' over the past 7 years... This is my favorite song because it helped me understand my situation wasn't unique, and I've looked up to him since. Great Eyedeas never die.

It's not that Eyedea had a good flow in every single song or improv he tried. Rap itself just flowed from his veins, know what I'm saying? One of those people whose creativity is just beyond standards. Kid 19 years old had already won Blaze Battle, Scribble Jam, turned down super contracts any artist would sell their soul for and written masterpieces such as Even Shadows Have Shadows. His flame burned for too few years, I can just wonder what great art he would have released from 2010 till now and beyond. But that flame burned really bright for as long as it burned.

man I don't think it was exactly an "overdose" but eyedea DID have an opiate problem.. people should just admit this and not try to cover it up. Shit, since hes died a few songs have been released where he even mentions this.. like theres some sadistik song with an eyedea verse and he has a line that says "suboxone under my tongue" suboxone is an opioid that is prescribed for people who are trying to quit heroin/opiates.. why would he have suboxone under his tongue if he didn't have a drug problem?
