I have one fixed floater with the shape of a croissant after the collapse of my vitreous. I have one slice of pineapple 4 to 5 times a week for a year. The floater lost most of its shape and only remains two points. I don´t know what influence had on the small dose of bromelain but I`m getting better. As I know bromelain don't dissolve collagen but it slows blood clotting, perhaps it may reduce collagen fibers clumps
Either true or false, no one wants to do this research because no pharmaceutical company can make money on selling pineapples.
I started eating fresh pineapple twice a day with cottage cheese for edema in my ankles and feet. It's been three months and my edema is gone, I've lost weight. When I saw this video, I realized that my floaters are gone as well. I'm 64 yo male and had enough floaters that it was noticeable and mildly annoying. I started eating a slice of pineapple after lunch 2 weeks ago and already the many floaters in my vision have lightened. They used to be dark spots but now they're less dark and therefore less bothersome when I'm reading.
Thanks for your video, Dr. Tai. A couple of years ago I had a round floater in my right eye, I was alarmed as it was severe. Through the research of my own, I deduced that it was from my optic nerve. I researched ways to treat my condition and learned that sucking out the floater to include the entire gel sac and then replacing the fluid was an option. This seemed like a last resort for me so I began eating pineapples. I eat pineapples every day for three weeks and the floater disappeared. I recently had the same thing happen in my left eye. I went back to the pineapple and it's been a week. The floater has diminished by 60 or so percent and I will continue to eat pineapples until it's completely gone. I still have no floaters in my right eye. I turn 60 this month. Due to my personal experience, I'll continue to enjoy pineapples for the rest of my life. Sincerely,

I have ischemia in my right eye which is a loss of blood flow and I only have 5% as a result in that eye but my left eye is still 20/20 but the event left me with a lot of floaters in my good eye. The enzyme in the pineapple helps me quite a bit and pretty much eliminated about 90% of all floaters in My overall vision, at least that's the way it seems to me. My guess is that it probably depends on why you are seeing floaters. My guy is a neurosurgeon and works with military fighter pilots for night vision issues.
Nice video Dr. Tai, keep going..! 👩⚕️ My understanding of bromelain is that it is a proteolytic enzyme which is an enzyme that clears out "damaged proteins, including collagen" from body tissues that contain damaged proteins and collagen, whereby, if you supplement with collagen, eat collagen rich foods (and/or foods rich in building blocks of collagen), then the damaged collagen that is cleared out is replaced, where needed, as appropriate. Bromelain is sold separately as supplement at health food stores, and my understanding is you take it on empty stomach with water if you want to experience proteolytic enzyme benefits, or take it with food if you want to use as a digestive enzyme. Also, bromelain in pineapple is mostly found in the stem of the pineapple, not much in the pineapple flesh and juice, so supplementing with bromelain will get you to higher therapeutic dose than eating pineapple flesh..! But don't stop eating pineapple, as it is very healthy and relatively low on glycemic index..! The lack of clinical study funding for additional studies on this topic most likely because you can't patent pineapple... and big pharma is not quick to fund big/expensive clinical studies with treatments that can't be patented (e.g. food). Thus the major downfall of clinical research field that focuses only on pharmaceutical breakthroughs (instead of food based wellness), so they can patent lab created pharmaceuticals, make megabucks, then treat and manage patients with them until the cows come home... paying off their condo in Bali... 😟 Of course seek the advice of informed health care professional before taking any supplements..! Blessings🙌🙏💞

Hello. Thank you for your time. I just got my eyes looked at and a prescription filled. Roughly 2 weeks. With a typical optometrist. In the last 2 years.I have experienced all three symptoms you described. Exactly how you described them. I’m also sensitive to bright lights. 6 months ago I did see an ophthalmologist. Because of what is best described by your third symptom. Nothing abnormal was found. Thank you.
The first time, I experienced eye floaters is about 20 years ago (I’m 67 now and retired). Over the years I have seen up to 5 floaters in my left eye. I didn’t had a healthy style of living and had a too much stress work related and too less sleep - constantly exhausted, not to talk about alcohol consumption. Anyways, my live got more in order, less stress, healthy eating and more sleep over the last 5 years 🙂 The floaters are almost gone, I only see 2 sometimes but very transparent compared to 15-20 years ago. I won’t draw a conclusion out of that, but since my life became calmer, my floaters may decided to hide somewhere away out of the field of view 😉 from my perspective - they almost disappeared 🤔

I use pineapple to treat a bursa in my shoulder. For those that can't eat pineapple because of the high sugar content, pills of extract are available. They are often sold as digestive enzymes, or bromelain. I'm not sure the effectiveness of the extracts. But I can attest that when I eat a lot of papaya or pineapple helps in general for any injury or bruises. If you're an athlete, not a bad idea to reduce inflammation on off days.

Hi Dr Tai, enjoy your expert help about the eyes. Blessings
A great video. I had posterior vitreous detachment and a retinal horseshoe tear which was tacked down. There are different classes of floaters. One, are the vitreous gel floaters caused by collagen clumping during syneresis or formation of liquefied vitreous. A more serious type are caused by posterior vitreous detachment…hyaloid membrane surrounding the vitreous pulls from the retina, and parts of that can cause more obstructing floaters. If the hyaloid pulls too hard, causing traction and visual flashing lights, the retina can tear. Many hundreds of dark tiny floaters can accompany this. Flashing lights, dark curtains, and loss of acuity signals possible retinal tears. These can generally be tacked down right away with a laser…a barrier is formed to prevent further tearing.

@@suhail_moideen I was reading scientific articles on a white computer screen in 2019, when a big black eye floater drove me crazy. I investigated and found that the enzyme bromelain is also available in supplements. Anyway, as pineapple you would need 1/4 slice (1.5-2cm or 1/2 inch thick) per day, but the pineapple would spoil before you finish it. It is important to do that for multiple weeks, therefore a supplement might be easier. Very important, in case of diabetes, cut your carbohydrates first. And reduce high blood pressure. Good luck!
I think your analysis of why pineapple is not likely an effective remedy for floaters is very persuasive. And the information regarding effective treatments is very helpful as well. Thanks for posting this.

I know someone who was diagnosed as stage 4 cancer and was given no hope of recovery by first world specialist doctors, but recovered by drinking tea made from a tropical plant. In addition, when I was in NY, USA, a specialist opthamologist after an eyebrow examination told me that I should get reading glasses because of my age but twenty years later, I still don't need reading glasses. So much so for specialists. Please note these are exceptional experiences. Generally, my experiences with medical specialists have been good.
I was about 13 years old when I first saw floaters. I thought they were living things I was seeing while using my microscope. I never told anyone because I did not know what to call them except things moving across my sight when I turned my eyes. Many years later I heard someone call them floaters,(Posterior Vitreous Detachment). You are my first to refer to them as PVD. Thank you. I never knew there was a treatment for them. I am watching your videos because I have been scheduled for cataract surgery in both eyes.
I think the thing that is cool about this study as there is no real harm in trying it yourself. Worse case scenario you introduce more fruit into your diet.
Actually I read before that bromelain is more concentrated in the stalk of the pineapple plant which is lower in sugar than the fruit portion. Thanks for posting the video Dr. Tai!

So glad I found your channel. Last year I had PVD in both eyes, 6 months apart. Also found out during exam that both eyes have cataracts. I have different types of floaters in both eyes. This all has been extremely distressing. I'm 56 and trying to find natural solutions that may help. My ophthalmologist said there's nothing. I've lead a healthy lifestyle and this has been a shock. Added vitamin E and algae omega to regimen, as well as, trying to eat greens daily. My main concern is stopping or slowing progression. Thank you for all you do

I started getting two small floaters in one of my eyes. They looked like two small black dots. I've recently been taking an eye vitamin that contains bilberry and eating pineapples. I definitely see a difference in my vision and the floaters seem to have faded significantly. The pineapple has also helped my gallbladder, so it has been an added bonus! Thanks for clarifying (no pun intended) this issue. I was a bit sceptical on the speed of how fast this would work, given how slowly any kind of process could possibly work in the eyes. Your explanation and presentation of facts helped me a lot. (I'm still gonna eat Pineapple, it's awesome)
Learn a lot from your videos, thank you for making this video
Thank you Dr for your info. I appreciate you.
I have to admit, I was a little skeptical of your presentation and your own skepticism concerning pineapple helping with floater problems until I listened to your objections which do make sense. The clincher was when you spoke of being a nutritionist and proponent of natural remedies. You seem to be an eye doctor who shoots it straight. I had cataract surgeries in both eyes, and last week I had to have a YAG capsulotomy in my right eye because it had began to become so blurred that I couldn't see even with glasses from that eye. It was like trying to look through a shower glass. After the procedure, I was able to see tack sharp from my right eye for 2 days, but experienced severe hazing problems and even spots from the laser when I would look at a white or near white wall. I have been off the Prednisolone for 3 days now, and for the most part, my vision has came back to 90% of what I was seeing for 2 days post procedure. Hopefully I will get that wonderful tack sharp crispness that I enjoyed for 2 days as my eye finishes recovering, and I was told that it could take about a week for the side effects to completely disappear. Good and informative presentation here. Thank you.

I understand that the study is not giving the correct explanations about how and why pineapple decreases floaters. But, reality is that they do decrease, and there are thousands of cases being reported everywhere...I have started eating a lot more pineapple since a couple of months, and floaters have decreased a lot. I will definitely continue eating a lot of pineapple for ever...maybe in some years it will be discovered the real reason pineapple helps, but meanwhile we know it does, and that's enough ( as Pineapple is anyway a healthy food...it would not be the same if I would have to take an specific medicine with side effects)
Great video!! Thanks 🙏
Thank you, been having those flickers of light off and on for 40 years. Years ago somebody told me that those flashing lights was from high cholesterol. So every time I periodically would get one I would watch my diet and they would stop.
Very useful to know about floaters and natural treatment. Thank you Doctor for the analysis. Respect from India.
You are awesome. I love that you also know about nutrition. You made me contact my eye care doctor. When I got PVD in my second eye I wasn't worried since it worked well with the first eye. But this second time I have had peripheral flashes for like a year now, occasionally seen at night. I want to fix that and I also want to suck out the vitreous gel of the eyes and replace the lenses as well. I assume nobody will come up with a way to rejuvenate lenses. Or maybe they will but only after I replace mine.
Very helpful, thanks
Thanks for your advice
The carbohydrates in fruit have fiber giving them a really low glycemic index.
Born extremely near-sighted, I have had floaters for about 70 years. I imagine that my vitreous humor has a tendency to pull away from the retina due to the elongation of the eyeball and collect debris. Diagnosed as 'pre-diabetic', I went keto several years ago (no sugar, no bread, no corn, no rice). Other results good. I read the same article you referenced, but no follow-up publications. NO WAY would I eat pineapple (full of fructose), but I tried bromelain (3,400 mg/day) for a year with no results. I have been taking twice that (6,800 mg/day) for the last year...again with no perceptible results. Another channel suggested liquid MSM eyedrops. I have them but am not optimistic. I theorize that extended fasting resulting in autophagy might take the floaters away. I will try that next.

Bro now you are ok?
My onset of floater started with the flashes (went to the eye doc as soon as the happened) which started in one eye then then within 2 weeks the other eye. The floaters in the left eye were fairly minor but still remain. The ones in the right eye are larger and have not resolved themselves in the past year. Right after they first appeared, I started taking a highly concentrated (and expensive) bromelain for 6-months without missing a dose and there was NO-change whatsoever. I appreciate you (essentially) calling this out and showing how counter-intuitive to think it would work. So, (to-me) save your money...
