Was not expecting this for sure. Very cool album and unique for its time (kinda even now). They're going to get y'all to listen to Comus - First Utterance next to continue the freak folk

Happy to see this one picked. Exuma has some of the best albums of the 70s.

This is an interesting album, very atmospheric with a distinctive feel. That has a lot to do with the cool, varied percussion, one of the stars of the show. The other star is Exuma's voice. Very passionate vocals reminiscent of Bob Marley. The first side is stronger, thanks especially to my two favorite tracks, "Dambala" (lovely chord changes) and "Mama Loi, Papa Loi." The second side begins with the only throwaway track, "Junkanoo," a simple jam that overdoes it on the whistle. But then you get a dirge that has a very simple, repeated guitar figure throughout. It's a bit much, but the song is interesting, the lyrics making it sound like a transmission from hell. The album in fact has weighty apocalyptic themes that come to a head on the final cut "The Vision." Of course, I don't take things like that seriously. But to me, it's just a fun world of imagination. I enjoyed this one! Strong 4.

A couple of songs are pretty good. Dambala is one and is sort of a zombie tribal tribute to Melanie at Woodstock, with all the lay down, love-ins, and bleeding inside each other's wombs. I stayed a year and a day, all tied up and starving with this voodoo tribe in the belly of Bahamas, so there is no need for me to revisit these bad times. I want to give it 4.5 stars so people understand that I'm a welcoming guy and open-minded, but album is a 3, at best.

I've enjoyed this interesting album, on recommendation, for many years. Nope is a great film too, by Jordan Peele - one of the best for 2022 IMO. When it comes to zombies though, The Cranberries said it best.

Definitely a very cool selection. I'd seen the cover around before and I recognized the first song somehow (not really sure how). I've never seen Nope so it wasn't from there. For me it was more of an album that I respected and found interesting than I would say I loved. The first couple songs were my favourite but I was not big on a lot of side 2. Pretty similar sentiment to what a lot of people have been saying. Went with 3 stars in the end.

I expected you both to hate this, but I’m surprised that you think it’s a solid album! It’s ok for me, although I do really like the first two songs. 3 stars for me. :)

The mystery & aura of The Bahamas 🇧🇸 meet the East Village of New York City 🍎. The result is entertaining but not particularly memorable. Promising concept & mediocre result.

An obscure album that probably deserves to remain obscure.
