redrickoshea yea, when he first recorded it and for like a year or two after I'm guessing he'd be able to do it, but in the time it dropped I'm pretty sure that's when he damaged his vocals (idk, I'm just trying to think of a reason, cause he damaged his vocals after a long tour, so it might have been around then?)

We drown it in alcohol, we dull it with drugs, we substitute it with pain but it's always there. Waiting. Forever. Some of us can endure but everyone has a breaking point. I hit mine (thank God for competent paramedics) and Chester hit his. I pray to God he finally found peace.

Everything you said is on point. I deal with demons daily and numbed myself with drugs for years. Now, I'm two years and two months clean. Still deal with depression and bipolar disorder, but I deal with it sober.

Like yourself i still deal with my mania,bipolare,ptsd, every god damn day i still hear my internal scream daily but i just cant get it out ofmy head.Mitght sound crazy but i always have headphones on trying to the clear the noise.im not completely sober i still smoke a lil of the green but i feel comfortable.sorry for ranting kepp up the awesome work all mylove from australia

I think the only reason I didn't put out my flame was because I was raised Catholic. My son Christo was just like Chester. We lost my son 20 years ago and it still haunts me. It's always in my thoughts, every second, every day. I still grind away. RIP Chester. I hope you've found your peace.

You and me, both. As crazy as it sounds, I use to blame myself for not being big enough to befriend him and help him. I've helped a few loved ones from losing themselves in that dark "empty room" (myself included). So it always made me feel like I could've helped him too. I don't feel that way all too much anymore. But it has definitely drawn me closer to those I care for.

This will probably get buried. But your humanity for Chester is honestly about to make me cry.

Chester was always honest and open about his depression and mental state.

Chester’s passing was/is the only singer/musician that made me cry, still does R.I.P Chester ❤️

I really dislike how everyone thinks all Linkin Parks song with a meaning like Bleed It Out, Given Up, Crawling, etc, all hint at him being suicidal or begging for help. The album is nearly 20 years old. There's nothing that proves he was suicidal or depressed way back then. Those kinds of lyrics were common in the early 2000/late 90's.

Chester’s suicide, and this song, made me realize just how important it is to reach out for help and talk to someone BEFORE a crisis develops. I’ve struggled with depression and thoughts of death for over 20 years, and always felt I had a cap on things and had it under control. This song changed me for better. I talk about my thoughts, my sadness, my depression, and I do it objectively without seeking pity or playing victim or asking anyone for anything. “This is what’s in my head right now, it does not belong in my head, so I talking it out to get rid of it.” Chester was a wonderful human being who was surrounded on all sides by parasites, ticks, and leeches sucking him dry because of his talent.

He’s not yelling at you, man. He’s yelling for you... this way the pain you feel in your darkest time, can be expressed through his scream. He felt so we could feel numb, no pun intended. I just wish I could’ve spoke for him... 💔🥺

He made it another decade past this song. For me this doesn’t hit as hard emotionally as the One More Light album. I can’t listen to One More Light or Heavy without tearing up a bit.

I chose to believe that Chester knew he would lose his battle eventually, and wanted to leave behind as much as he could to help save people from going through the same thing, and giving them something to relate too, so they know they aren't alone. Chester and Linkin Park ended up getting me through the roughest time of my childhood with their music. Hybrid theory and Meteora . Chester saved me and he couldn't save himself and my heart is still shattered. 💔😭

That 18 second scream (Known as a vocal fry) is one of the longest ever recorded. It originally wasn't supposed to even be in the song and Mike Shinoda (The Rapper) Once said the way Chester sang the song scared him. Alot of vocalists (including myself) use that scream as a way to measaure themselves, to see how much of it they can do, to push themselves to be like Chester. Dude was a legend. Man... I have to be honest and say LP was my favorite band for YEARS but not anymore. Not for a while. I changed and evolved. It's life. But I never stopped going back. But listening to this again.... fuck. It hits different. This was my favorite off their 2007 album at the time. It was so heavy and upbeat and those SCREAMS! But now... damn Chester. RIP.

The Linkin Park logo used to be a complete hexagon. Each side of the hexagon represented a band member but when Chester died, they removed his side of the logo signifying that the band cannot be whole without Chester.

Sometimes when im alone, i just start screaming and crying, mostly crying bcs my throat hurts after.

Bruh. This is one of my top five LINKIN Park song. I identify with it. And yes, he held that scream for 17 seconds. I’ve seen him do it live. Intense doesn’t cover it. He was such a beautiful soul. I mourn him every year. He sang the words I felt but couldn’t express. Thank you for reacting to their music. I love to see others enjoy what I already know is amazing.

Anyone els start to cry when they hear Chester scream? No one will ever be as raw and be able portray that type of emotion…RIP Chester

When Chester passed I thought about it everyday for 3 months, it really hurt me. I'm thankful to have seen him perform live.

Mikelangelo bro I missed him when he was in Toronto back when I was 15. The cheapest tickets were like 50$ which nowadays is nothing but back then it was like 2 months worth of savings.... should have gone goddammit...

Chester poured his pain into his songs to make us realize that we're not alone.

This song is a testament to the ability Chester had to pull you into a song with just his voice and the emotion he puts into a song is just incredible He brought a taboo subject of depression into the mainstream and the lyrics are so powerful in their songs they where so relatable to the fans Watching such an icon he wore his heart on is sleeve his loss left a big hole in many people's lives I've no doubt many people are still alive today because of Linkin Park I've myself have been battling depression for more than 30yrs so I know it's so hard and at times I just wanted to give up on life I couldn't talk to anyone because depression is seen in many people's perspective something you get over but it's doesn't work that way it's a serious mental issue that takes lives every day it destroys families who lose love ones who are battling depression RIP Chester you left this earth to soon but your legacy will live on forever ✝️❤️ # Be Kind ❤️ # Peace To All ❤️

I am not the typical Linkin Park fan. I got to know their music from my kids. I immediately was hooked. Chester understood me. He knew my pain. He screamed out what was inside. I was almost as shocked as the rest of the world when he passed. I knew he was in pain. I knew he had his demons, I had mine. Even though we all felt that he was on the verge so many times but when his good friend Chris Cornell took his own life, it was only a matter of time before Chester would give in to it. You could see and hear his downward spiral. I still have a hard time listening to their music. I can't even listen to "One More Light" before losing it. RIP Chester Bennington.

We miss him everyday brother. He was one true talent and a troubled mind. Something from my childhood died when he died. Listen to "One more light" there's a live version when he sings a few days after his friend Chris Cornell died, and it is heartbreaking. Lots of love my man.

"From the Inside" was the first LP song that made me analyze their lyrics. After that song, I went back and listened to everything again with a new perspective and was mind blown. "Faint" is my favorite tho. LOL

I was near the front and he reached out to me and our fingertips nearly touched, and failed. He stood back and mouthed "sorry" to me. I've seen them live twice. What always impressed me the most with chesters scream, wasnt that it was like a full minute, he takes one barely noticable breath and swaps back to singing afterwards.

I’ve seen Linkin Park in concert 5 times and I’m so glad I was there to see Chester and Chris Cornell on stage at the same time. Zero regrets.

Maan.. when Chester passed. I nearly got consumed by my own mind for nearly a month. I was absolutely destroyed. People at work knew how much I enjoyed Linkin Park and how I viewed Chester and my boss gave me a few days off for bereavement, because I wasn't mentally stable enough to handle taking phone calls. I did try but one call... dude was talking about Chesters passing and started to break down crying and it.. broke me. Couldn't keep my front up any longer. Been a fan since they started. I can barely listen to them now without tearing up. Especially "Heavy" that song tears me up so much.

It's sad

Saw him do this live when i was like 14. Still the best show I've ever been to. This is his deepest and most honest song in my opinion. He put everything on the table with this one, sometimes you gotta just let that shit out. So sad, he did this cuz he knew people could relate tho. This song still helps me on those kinda days, I know it all too well. I was 6 when their first album dropped an i remember when Chester died everybody was just blindsided. R.I.P Chester, and thank you for all this amazing music you gave us🙏

When I heard this song for the first time I was going through depression and suicidal thoughts. This song pretty much saved my life. I’m now over all my demons but I owe this man my life and yet I feel guilt for not being able to save his. One life saved millions but millions couldn’t save one

That is why we must always be kind to one another, show love to one another, but the most important thing of all (that we fail to do in today's world) BE THERE for one another.
