Ғылым және технология
I bought a cheap tiny switch for the bunker,, as I wanted it to fit in the tiny rack,, in the bunker.
It has 8 ports of 2,5Gbit and one 10Gbit SFP+ uplink port.
As sayed in the video,, my Patrons supplied the funds for this switch,, so Thank you,, and here is where you can become a patreon supporter : / myplayhouse

My PlayHouse is a channel where i will show, what i am working on. I have this house, it is 168 Square Meters / 1808.3ft² and it is full, of half-finished projects.
I love working with heating, insulation, Servers, computers, Datacenter, green power, alternative energy, solar, wind and more. It all costs, but I'm trying to get the most out of my money, and my time.

Mount it sideways so it can breath - thanks for the video! Have great day!

:-) "breath" I think you are giving this cheap chinese switch a bit to much AI credit... :-) I know what you mean...
cheap D-Link work well and also their managed ones are very cheap. Also, Mikrotik are a bit more expensive but you have good optioins with SFP/SFP+

If you add up all the stuff I wanted for this switch,, the options got very limited. 10Gbit uplink SFP+ uplink Minimum 8 ports of minimum 1Gbit ports Managed Fit in my tiny rack. (this did not fit where I wanted it but still) Affordable (this is a for fun project,, trying to keep the prices down)
you need more monitoring and a flat floor in the bunker but it is progressing - 2.5 is a good addition with jumbo frames you should get 230mb/s or so, do add hepa pos pressure vent and that will take care of humidity issues when coupled with dehumidifer
@MyPlayHouse

It's work in progress,, we are getting there on tiny step at a time :-)
Great video Morten… Maybe you find DC/DC power supplies for the switch and the de-humidifier so you can switch of the AC part of the battery- avoidance of switching/conversion loss Would be fun to see
@MyPlayHouse

Yes,, I need to step down 12v to 9v to the de-humidifier,, just haven't gotten to that yet :-/ and I need it to run in a timer on/off or even better a humidifier sensor,, on/off.
putting the switch in your "rack" will block the air-vents on the sides.

Yes it will,, I believe I mentioned that..
I use a similar switch, also with 8x2.5+1x10G, but unmanaged one. No problems whatsoever.

Also on amazon there are these tiny fanless 2.5 gbe that have 10 gb sfp+ for linking with fiber cables

@@MyPlayHouse no, there are some others on amazon that are probably better for build quality, but they cost a little bit more (just 10 euros) + most of them are unmanaged
Great Video ! Move the electronics away from the floor, please ! Does the bunker ever flood with a few inches of water ? Sump pump ? Stay connected ! tjl

It should not get flooded.
Love the video, been wondering how you would do the networking, could you 3rd print some ears for it and have remote temp prop?

What you need is a mini UPS from China it gives you 5/9/12v outputs i have 4 of them and they are great....if you want the model number I can give you

It might have not liked the Poe pass through from the unifi wall ap, I think you can turn it off in the unifi controller

I have also been thinking that,,, I was probably lucky I did not break anything!!
Have you tested the through put of the switch , that its is possible to to pull the 2.5GB from each port , also Dose the SFP port require any particular Type Of SFP ? Since these things have there own firmware installed on them .

What you saw, was what I did,, I have not tested any more than that. (witch was really not much of a test, more like does it work at all) I put in a standard SFP+ ,,, I think this will take more or less anything,, it´s the big brands that are picky and only want to work with there own SFP's

Doesn't the switch uses more power/watt when there is network connection / data transferred in progress?
@MyPlayHouse

I am sure it does,,, most of the time it is not going to be doing much,, we will see again when I get some traffic on it..
Maybe you can flash the switch with openwrt firmware. What is the chip names. Flash?

Would you not be wary of Aliexpress networking gear? Because of spying concerns? I've heard of cheap Chinese network devices sniffing your packets and sending it to foreign servers.
