Extremely beautiful antique lighter - Full Restoration
Ойын-сауық
Hello everybody!🖐 The Restorer is with you again.🔥😎
I want to share with you a new video of the restoration of a very beautiful and rare gasoline lighter, probably from World War II. I don't have much information on this antique lighter, but it is said to be a US Army award lighter. US soldiers and officers were awarded medals and orders for their exploits and this lighter was added as a memento. Presumably a limited batch made to order by jewelers. This lighter is very unique and miniature. I have never seen such a small and delicate lighter. The lighter is made of brass, steel, and a black material unknown to me (a round black insert) that looks like plastic. This antique lighter came to me in very bad condition. I decided to restore it and give it a new life. I hope you will like the result of the restoration👍😉. If you know more information about this rare find, then write in the comments. I will be very interested to know more information.

This is a WWI Trench Art Lighter. They typically have a coin as a centerpiece which would help determine where it came from exactly. I'm not very educated on this subject, so I could be wrong, but it's strange that the center is just unlabeled plastic seeing as all the others I've seen are made of various coins from the soldiers' belongings. The outcome is stunning either way!

I am very curious as to why you didn’t soak the lighter in a rust remover solution first. Oiling it and then prying pieces off the lighter could have resulted in total breakage. It’s also amazing that the lighter was rusted since it was made of brass and or copper. Maybe there was a contamination of iron mixed in with the brass if that is possible. In the end. It came out wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

You caught exactly what I caught. The metals that the lighter is made of do not rust. And there is also not one bit of pitting from the corrosion. I have a feeling that it is fake rust made for entertainment. Can’t trust anything you see nowadays.

@@mikedickinson9730 I actually just saw a KZread video a couple of days ago where they talked about most of the restoration videos being fake. They paint a fake rust product over the metal to make it look really bad. Have you ever watched the restoration videos from Hand Tool Rescue? That guys work is phenomenal. I have an antique deli slicer that he wanted me to send to him but it weighed a ton and I would have had to make a wooden shipping box to send it in.
