Extreme Money Saving Tips | Renting A Room

Need to save some money fast? Then you might have to go to extremes. In the past I've had to resort to some pretty drastic measures to save up enough money to pay bills, get rid of debts, and achieve some of my life goals. I wanted to start sharing some of these extreme money saving tips with everyone in hopes that they might be useful to others. In today's video I'll be talking about how to save money each month by renting a room instead of a whole house or apartment.
Have you ever rented a room? If not would you consider it? What would be your biggest fear if you had to rent a room?

I've done the same thing myself. When you're making $10/hour, you can't afford to throw it all away on a $1,500 per month one bedroom apartment! You don't need a lot of stuff to be happy. Time and peace are the most valuable things you'll ever own.

Something that I find appealing about it is if you don't like your room mates, and your just renting the room. You aren't under a contractual obligation to stay in that house.

I've been renting a room for 2 years now and I love it. Before I had my own apartment and I was lonely. Now I have 3 roommates and they keep life interesting! Yes you do get some odd people, but life will never be boring haha and the amount of money you save is astronomical :D

It was just a few decades ago when you could find apartments for $350-$550; now you only get a room for that much. RV life keeps looking better & better. But I'm glad Airbnb exits.

I’ve already said on this channel that I’ve been renting to “master” Cal Arts students in Valencia, CA for 12 years. Keep in mind that we are in L.A. City of CA. Back in 2006 I rented a room for $400, which included everything and a shared bath. Lately I’ve been renting my Master Bedroom and adjoining bath for $800. In anticipation of my retirement and full-time RVing. I now reduced his Rent to $500. He has been an outstanding renter for almost 2 years. I’m putting the house in the market and hope to retire and take off in my RV in July 1.

There's generally first, last, and security deposit. You want a place with rules like no smoking/alcohol. That keeps a lot of trouble away. There will often be other rules like no overnight guests, no guests after 10, stuff like that. Believe me you want a place like that rather than one where anything goes. If you want to spend the night with someone, you get a motel room.

This is how a lot of people live in Europe. People in Paris even rent out their apartment for the month of august, when they leave for vacation. I enjoyed having most of my roommates in London. It is very isolating to be all by yourself in a new place. I’m looking at Airbnb room rentals in places I want to go. You have to adjust your maximum price down to 70 per night for the cheaper places to show up. If you arrive at the place you rented and it is horrible, Airbnb will refund your money and try to find you another place. Right now rental rates are 20-30% higher than last year. It is not sustainable. That is on renting a house in my area. Living on the road gets more appealing all the time. Another option is to look at a roommates site. People advertise their spare rooms there for cheaper than Airbnb.

And came knocking on my door. She threatened me with eviction, because I had room mates, saying that I was violating the rules of the lease. So I stood, accused of what she called subletting my apartment. So heads up! if, you choose to rent out extra rooms, while living in a apartment.

All women have to have their "space." Also, if you rent with guys, they will usually be hitting on you. Also, usually a bunch of drunk people and/or substance abuse issues.
