I'm one of 13 children and grew up in a 22-room farmhouse. Every so often, my mother would announce - always on a weekend day, of course - that our grandparents were on their way for a visit. And, I promise you that you've never seen 13 little rats scurry the way we did to get our house in order before Gram and Gramps got there! It was as if the entire beehive simultaneously realized it was time to buzz! (Of course, once she realized it worked, she would randomly tell us they were coming to visit when they weren't, but she just wanted the house deep cleaned.) This video reminds me of those frenzied weekends. Actually a rather fun memory. . .

Wow, it really is eye opening to see you both doing all this work and not just having someone do it all for you. When we see these large homes we have a tendance to thing they have all kinds of help and the owner live a life of leisure but watching your videos really puts thing into perspective so thank you!!

This series has really reinforced my image of of the British nobility and aristocracy. Viscounts and Viscountesses all dressed up and, ..... diving into cleaning, scraping, mopping, digging, painting, hauling, etc. 😂You both are so impressive! Just rolling up your sleeves and doing what has to be done in order to keep your home going, like so many other home owners everywhere.

As time goes on and you plan the next party the only thing that I can see that I might want, as a guest, is more mirrors. I have full length mirrors at home and when I travel I love the luxury of a good mirror when getting dressed. Maybe mirrors are there and I just didn't notice them in the video. Aw,Julie - your American visitor friends fell in love with all the quirky dusty shabby chic of Mapperton, that sense of a place bypassed by time. And now you've made it like The Ritz! Sorry, thats very rude of me. You and Luke and your team have done wonders and worked so hard. How fabulous to live in a house where you find treasures any time just by opening a drawer or taking up a carpet. I know how it is. You (me) potter along for years putting off the tasks to another day, quite happy with "that'll do" and "thats close enough" then you get news of a visitor and you suddenly "see" the clutter, the dust, the scratches, the tears, the wonky bits. Maybe next year ill make the effort (no excuses) to visit Mapperton and a bit of Dorset.

I am hoping you both have an opportunity to just relax and catch your breath for a short time before your American guests arrive. You both look exhausted. It's impressive how you both just "get on with it", whatever "it" is for you at any given time. Julie, you never seem to stop for more than a few seconds, and as much as you talk, your body keeps up with the work at the same time! I would so enjoy a visit to Mapperton to see all this beauty and hard work first hand, but at 76, and fairly hampered by a body that no longer keeps up with me, it is not likely to be. However, I visit vicariously through your video's. It's such an enjoyable way to travel. I hope you have a wonderful time with your guests, and look forward to hearing about the visit in your next video's.

There are some really nice looking electric faux fireplaces, it might be something worth looking into to keep the cozy feel of the fire without the problems. I know there is already a lot on your plates, but you really need to go through the estate room by room, building by building and document and catalog everything into a nice database.

I am in Indiana and I have a lauder. You could put all the broken bits from the kitchen into the lunch hampers/baskets and tag the basket. For the fireplaces you cannot use put a plant inside or a ceramic thingy. Light the fire while you are eating. Us Americans like a nice little fire to eat by. If it is too warm then crack open some windows. A crackling fire is very romantic

When will the Eagles be ready for the front gate? Also, will you film any of the Historic Tour activities when the Americans show up? I could watch this channel for hours.

Watching you clean today absolutely triggered me. Scraping the fireplace bricks with a knife? No, no, no,,,,no. Too time consuming. Wire brush that sucker, then vacuum using the hose with the bristle attachment. The vacuum hose with the bristle attachments are my best friend every time I deep clean, particularly in the bathrooms. If you suck up the dust, hair, and such first, you wont be pushing that stuff endlessly around. I did New Construction Cleaning for a long time, and the very first thing we would do was vacuum EVERY SINGLE surface. Walls, doors, cabinets inside, and out, floors, window sills, wood trim, bathtub, you name it. It does take some time, but the next phase (liquid cleaner) goes super fast. I had a Kirby vacuum back then (remember those), but now my tool of choice is Oreck.

Dearest Julie, As I’ve watched these videos of the improvements, remodeling, and spiffing up of your home, the gardener’s cottage and the BEAUTIFUL grounds and gardens it appears to me that YOU ARE doing all the physical work😢. I’m curious to know, if behind the seines, your husband and children are helping you? Thank you so much for sharing all you do to lovingly care for Gorgeous home and Estate 💕🙏🙏. I’m very anxious to see and hear about the American people that are coming to stay and visit your family and the Manor❤

Remember they came to see your family, the country, etc… not the absolute cleanliness of your home!
