He is utilizing racing rain tires as opposed to slicks. That’s how he’s staying on the track with some traction.

I was in one where it started raining. All drivers on slick tyres in this weather. It was hilarious.

If I go racing I would want the track to be dry as the heat of mars, because there is no way I am going to race with a spin out chance increase. This is just scary. Well done on keeping the kart on track!

The video is so mesmerizing. Totally not experienced in wet race driving but it is so cool to see that the control over the kart is obtained again during cornering after the front tires are aligned straight again. A very cool (and somewhat educative, hahaha) video! Goed gedaan, man :)

Front tires are straight most of the time, look how little he moves the wheel. Looks like half of the steering is done with the throttle.

@@after_midnight9592karts have very little steering range on the wheel. He’s turning the wheel a normal amount here especially with a wet setup which simply put amplifies your steering input.

Hi Dirk, I noticed that the 0-60 acceleration of KZ shifter kart is less than 3 seconds while that of the Porsche GT3 car is about 3.5 seconds. Does it mean that KZ kart is faster than Porsche GT3 car on track? I want to hear opinions from drivers like you who have experience on both of them. Many thanks! BR, Osamu

Shorter track than usual at Berghem. Which do you prefer? At a 2h race here we drove in the wet with slicks. That was very interesting 😂

With 1300m this is actually the longest "grand Prix" layout at Berghem. The normal "euro final" layout is 1100 meter.

Feeling wise it’s close to F1 speeds. It hits 130 kp/h at this track and at some tracks it can hit 170-200 kp/h

Man that's something else, no wonder they say F1 drivers are great at carts. That being said it would be fun if they had some sort of annual cart event/competition to see who's the quicker on equal terms.

I had my ICC Kart hit 185kph on a test track but we know we could have gone more out of it if we had gears for a long straight, we worked out we could see 200kph with the right gearing. Also, another factor was aero dynamics with massive drag across my shoulders and chest once over the 150kph mark, so add some aero on and probably squeeze an extra 10kph @@dirkschoutenracing

O my..... I shudder for 1 reason. You gotta take it home and tear the kart apart to make sure nothing rusts. That's the 1 thing that's super lame about karting in the wet. It's a helluva lot more on maintenence. Unless you got a mechanic. I'm a terrible mechanic but they say the best drivers wrench on their own karts.
