I loved this title, especially when you break the sound barrier, soo cool, hadn't seen it done before that ! REMAKE! (For switch) good vid! d>_0b *also, as per your outro, of course we like your style, and appreciate the fact you are here doing what you do! (Now imagine the barrier break sound..)

@@FiresideGamingReviews Also, doubled checked to be sure, but even 'in game' they actually have the speed of sound scientifically accurate, AND in MPH!! (speed of sound 767 mph, in game, roughly speaking when you hit above 760 mph the effect is triggered). Just a cool fact that they actually gave thought to! d>_0b latr

@@FiresideGamingReviews I thought it was interesting that even though the game was developed in London, they went with mph. As a person that dabbles in the storytelling craft, mostly sci-fi/ horror, I always put as many real world facts in as need be and possible. So my mind looks for those types of details, always pleased to see when others do the same. Alrighty friend, see you in your next segment. d>_0b

@@FiresideGamingReviews One last thing, thinking on the racing games that were along side xg3, do you remember the title Kinetica? It was somewhat similar, but the players actually 'wore' the racing gear. I think they are/have ported it to the PS4. From recollection, the demo I played that came with my PS magazine subscription (yep, they included demo disc, soo cool) the controllers were awkward and slightly laggy. But at the time I thought the premise itself was pretty unique. d>_0b
One of the true unsung greats of futuristic racers.
Dude, breaking the sound barrier when I was playing this as a kid blew my mind. I was all "woahhhh no way am I actually going that fast this is crazy dude" lmao. We *need* a new one of these so bad

It kills me that they haven't at least rereleased XG3 yet considering XG2 is on Steam.
HEY DJ... GIMME A FAT BEAT!!!!
We DESPERATELY need a modern day Extreme G game. I just downloaded Pacer and it just doesn't keep up. XG3's sound break and weapons are on a league of their own. Up until Mario Kart 8, no courses in games touched this series.

Agreed, a new entry in the series could be the first real competitor to Mario Kart 8
Played it on Gamecube when I was 5 and that was the game that hooked me on Electronic music B)

THIS IS FACTS AND I’M GLAD I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE
XGIII was one of the 3 games I first bought with my PS2, and I just remembered it out of the blue earlier this week. Thanks for the nostalgia dopamine hit, great video!

Extreme G 3 is no doubt about the hardest game in the whole series.
It's a Legend Game, i play it till now !!
Losing all your money after failing to finish a league is so brutal, you really need to save between every match just to prevent having to lose all your progress!

Nice! The XG series could use a new owner since the current doesn't care about it. There's a lack of futuristic racers right now and I feel it's a good time for a comeback.
Great little review and helpful as I'm just going back through the game too at the moment. It definitely still holds up via a retrotink and a decent size modern TV. Looks ace 👊😎🏁

HEY DJ! GIVE ME A FAT BEAT!!! this the only game that took it to wipeout for me. Loved this and XGRA as a kid.
That was a nice short review!
Had fun with XG3 back in the day on the GameCube. Cool visuals and sound and excellent futuristic racing.
I was given a functional ps2 10 years ago and I completely forgot I had it, I still have this game and others, all I need is a scart to HDMI converter and a memory card, all of this just came back to me when I watched some game play, O yes I will be in the saddle again very soon.

Nice! Here's hoping you get that converter and memory card soon!
And the music was great
The only weapon I needed was the rail gun. But engine enhancements was a absolutely necessary.
This game was my first video i played
My favorite in the series is XGRA, it’s the 4th installment of the Extreme G series.

I picked XGRA up a while back but just haven't got around to playing it yet.
Yes, this is really fun and you might get hit by the railing a lot and getting tagged by weapons, a whole lot during races, and with the small amount of shields in this motorcycle, your vehicle takes a beating fast
Wow, I never knew about this game. Pretty sick, just went on ebay after watching this and picked this up for 6 bucks free shipping.

nice to see these games getting shown off by their original fanbases
I know this is a little late but would you be able to do a video on XGRA: Extreme G Racing Association? I’m pretty sure it’s the 4th installment of this series.

I remember playing this as a kid and I thought it was okay. The first Extreme G on the N64 was my favorite, I didn't like the second one at all. Extreme G 3 was okay, and I know they came out with another Extreme G game on the PS2, and I liked that one more than 3, but not more than the first.

Which was the best port - PS2 or GC ?
@FiresideGamingReviews
2 жыл бұрын
I only have experience with the PS2 version, but from my understanding there's not a major difference between them. Just depends on if you want two or four players in versus mode and what controller you prefer.

The GC port runs smoother and plays better, I went with the dolphin emulator I had a blast playing it.

That makes a lot of sense. I've never tried my hand at speedrunning but love to watch them.
XG3 is fun, but coming from XG and XG2, I felt it was a bit of a downgrade. In the previous two games, the bikes were all legitimately different so you could pick ones that better suit your playstyle. XG2 also had the supersonic thing. Ultimately, I thought XG3 was a bit too homogenized and preferred the variety in the older games.
@FiresideGamingReviews

That's completely fair. I only have vague memories of renting XG and XG2 to play with friends once or twice. So I can't say much about how XG3 compares to them.

no mention of one of the best soundtracks in any game? lmao i guess the soundtrack doesnt stand out to an american. ministry of sound released the soundtrack as a promo with the game (might only be in the uk). cryptomnesia by kamaya painters (of which tiesto is a part of) prob my fav track on there.
@FiresideGamingReviews

It's not that as much as this is one of my early videos. I felt if I used the soundtrack for background music, I didn't need to mention it during the review. That was my mistake and I make sure to bring up soundtracks in my more recent reviews. And yeah, I agree XGIII has an incredible soundtrack. But we didn't get a promo release of it in the U.S., unfortunately.
XGRA messed up when they made it boring after the first one
Problem with this game is the few rival vehicles, it's kind of boring for this reason, you drive drive drive... so few overtakings. The 30 rival vehicles in F-Zero was passport to Awesomeness. This game had the fundamentals, the graphics and the music were good, but it was just NOT THAT FUN to play.
The pronunciation of “Cheltenham” irks me
