Honestly I was just expecting this to be a fun like "bonus" look at a more detailed aspect of a make over but honestly I think this may be my favourite project yet. It looks SO DAMN GLAM! And that paint Holly chose is so gorgeous, it's just so *black* it feels really luxe in that lighting which is hard with black paint. I really wasn't expecting a project with such a simple aesthetic to be so pleasing to me. And I also like how we really can compare this to your other fireplace makeover (which I only saw the other day) and see the skill progression right there on the screen in front of us.

Flat paint looks velvety and deeper and is great if you don’t have rugrats running around knocking into it.

This house is coming together so well. Can’t wait to see what flooring you two decide to install. My favorite space is the kitchen/dining area. I love the green cabinets.

IM OBSESSED!! I think everyone is always intimidated with using black paint on things but you prove that it’s STUNNING. Love how this turned out!

I am SHOOK with how amazing the fireplace looks! My jaw dropped seeing it before you put the mantle on. The black shiplap look is so amazing and it really helped make the room feel so much taller.

I love the look of this, we’re going to be revamping our tired, 1970s fireplace and this was great inspiration. One thing I have learned the hard way is that wiping down wood with a damp cloth can raise the grain, which has led to me spending a lot of unnecessary time sanding projects that were perfectly smooth before they got exposed to water. I usually use one of those magic cleaning cloths made for dusting to get rid of dust on my projects and that helps to avoid the issue. Gorgeous makeover!

The fireplace looks brown in the thumbnail so I was stunned to see how bold and beautiful it was when you painted it black. It could honestly be either color and still mesh so well with the natural theme you and Holly are creating. I loved this!!

Hi! I want to make your life 1000x easier. The shiplap is meant to be nailed on the lip only, so the nails are hidden by the next piece of shiplap! You should only have to fill nails on your staring piece not every single one!!!
