The best way to declutter your closet is to take everything out of your closet and lay the clothes out on the bed. When closet is empty throughly dust, vacuum and clean shelves, baseboards, light fixture, etc. Put things to get rid of right in a box to transport to donate. Clothes to keep put in a seperate pile on the bed. This is a good time to upgrade your hangers. Only keep what fits and looks good on you. Do the same with your shoes. Make a list of any apparel you may need. Take note of how much money you have tied up in the donation box. The money you have spent may shock you even if you thrift shop. May want to rethink impulse shopping. I follow the 'one-in-one-out' system . If you bring something new home, something in your closet has to go. This will stop impulse buying and you can save that money. Now when you want to declutter it will take you only a few minutes and your closet will stay neat and pretty.👏👏👏👏👏👏

I'm old enough to be your Mama, but you still got me thinking about decluttering my closet and dresser. There's always something that can go! I'll have to do some picture frame decluttering at some point because I went a little crazy thinking about gallery walls 😅

Hi Karrie! I love decluttering videos! You did a fantastic job and I’m sure your family will enjoy your clothes!

I empty out the closet first. Go through the clothes, try things on if I need to, and rehang/or fold things and put what I want back. When putting the things on hangers, I always hang long sleeves with long sleeves, and short sleeves with short sleeves. All sorted by groups of color! It makes it so much easier to find things that way. It looks so much better too! For the deodorant stain, take a pair of pantyhose and rub on the stain, then wash.

Great job Karrie! I would suggest as Dana did to get the velvet hangers they help free up space and keep clothes on the hangers. Also, the top you mentioned not being able to get the deodorant stain out of, try just a little Dawn liquid dish detergent and rub in. I’ve had it get out spaghetti, ketchup, chocolate and blood. Someone is going to be so happy with the clothes you are giving them. Great job on your weight loss too! 😊❤😊

I too minimized my clothes because I have a tiny closet. With my minimized clothes, I was able to organize my clothes and now it's easier for me to put an outfit together. Plus I find my clothes faster now. I switched my plastic hangers to slim hangers. The slim hangers save so much more space in my tiny closet. I buy clothing only if I need something. Other than that I just wear what I have. You did an amazing job!!!

Deodorant stains on dark clothes I found dishwashing liquid detergent directly on stains helps. 👌

I de-cluttered too. I brought 2 bags of books, 2 large bags of stuffed animals, 1 bag of kids shoes, 2 bags clothes, and 2 bags of décor to the thrift store. It feels sooo good and I just got started!! I have kept so much of my children’s things and they are now married with families of their own and don’t want these things, so out they are going!!!!

This is so satisfying! I do this once a year between Christmas and New Years. Turn all the hangers backwards. At the end of the year, any hanger not turned around GOES because you didn’t wear it in a year. It works, I’ve done this for years and it helps so much!

I always feel so good when I declutter and It’s been almost a year since I have done anything with my kitchen and now I’m motivated thanks to you. You got rid of so much and I was so happy to see you happy 🙂. I’ve recently went through my closet and I got rid of so much and it felt great! I have been trying so hard to lose weight but it’s super hard because I have been a chronic migraine sufferer since I was 5 and I’m 52 now but my medications makes it so difficult and I hate that. I wish I could do something but I don’t know what to do and I don’t want to go off my meds because then I will be in a tremendous pain 😢. Thank you for a motivating video.

Did you know clothing with even numbers for size 6, 8, 10 are women's sizing and clothing with odd numbers 7, 9, 11 are junior sizing and can actuall fit very different. If your a 9 in juniors size I belive you'd be an 8 in women's sizing

I have trouble getting rid of clothes I spent quite a bit of money on! Your cousin's daughters are going to be so excited to get those clothes! I didn't declutter my closet today, but you motivated me! Speaking of paint clothes, I hope you kept something to wear while painting. I got rid of all my paint splattered clothing and then had to wear something that was nice and make it "new paint clothes" arghhh

I already have a minimalist amount of clothes, my husband has way more then I do. But I am in process of packing our stuff up because we are moving and planning on doing so next weekend so I have been trying to pack and declutter anything I need too when I get the energy/ motivation to do so.

It feels like such a cleanse to go through/declutter your clothes and even more enjoyable to pass it on to someone else. I recently helped a good friend declutter a bit as she is downsizing her home and it felt like Christmas to be gifted some or her purges that were new or like new. The one thing I have a difficult time purging, are bottoms. Unless like you the bottoms are just too big, I keep what I have until its last leg (pun intended) bc I wear a S/M, curvy with a small waist. If I find bottoms that fit perfect which is not often, I will keep for a long time. Seeing you try on bottoms that once were tight is just another example that your hard work paid off. Great motivation 🫶🏽👍🏽💪🏽👖

I used to struggle with getting rid of clothes but I've learned that lesson has more so I haven't been struggling this year with getting rid of anyting especially when I donate it and give it to somebody in need makes me feel better

When someone asks me where do i start decluttering i say left. That makes more sence to me when i start. I decluttered my closet and my daughters 2 weeks ago and bought new clothes for my daughter 2 weeks ago mine saterday for fall and winter. I am done for the season.

I love to declutter! I love a good outfit but I’ve learned over the years, less is more! I tend to wear the same things over and over so what I’ve decided to do is keep the clothes I wear and when I get tired of it, donate it and go get a new outfit. I love having less clothes, less decisions to make when I get ready. It works very well for me but I know everyone is different.

I only use the white plastic hangers in all of our closets. It makes the areas look more pulled together. I have problems getting rid of sentimental items.

I really enjoy decluttering videos . Someone said switch hangers and those hangers are awesome 😎 Better Homes and Gardens .

I think you and I are pretty much the same size. I went on a weight loss journey this time last year. I'm down to 127 now and I'm a 3/5 but I'm just maintaining at this point. I don't need to lose anymore otherwise I know I won't look healthy lol I got sick several years ago and got down to 105-110 and looked too thin and felt HORRIBLE. You look great! And your house is just so adorable! 🥹

Hey Karrie, Happy Friday. For me it’s hard for me to get rid of jackets and sweatpants because I love both of them and wear them all the time especially in the fall and winter. ❤ You do have a lot of clothes but there’s nothing wrong with it. At least you know you won’t ever run out of clothes. 😂❤ Aww there’s nothing better than being able to try on old clothes and see the process that you made with clothes that used to be so tight on you and now they’re loose. ❤ My sister likes to color code all of her clothes too which she has a lot as well but I like to organize my clothes by type. My sister gives me all of the clothes that don’t fit her anymore too and I enjoy it because it’s free clothes. ❤

Omg I do the same thing. Every season when I clean and organize my clothes I end up holding on to things I will never wear. I just threw out all the things that don't fit "right"
