Natalia Osipova, extreme jumps, extreme talent, extreme passion, extreme flexibility, this ballerina has it all.
A dancer of extremes, her work ethic, talent, passion, even flexibility (a 180 degree split is nothing to her... she does 270) are beyond the norm. Following Natalia Osipova /Наталья Осипова from her very first ballet classes to adulthood, this video shows how strong these qualities were in her from the very start.
Even today she has not slacked off. Where others may settle for good, or aim for simple greatness, Natalia has other plans. She is driven to be the best ballet dancer she can possibly be. She is one of the most self-disciplined, hardest working, laser beam focused, minutia-calculating, "do it twelve more times" dancers in the world today. And, the result is mind blowing...

Born in Moscow, Osipova began formal ballet training at the age of nine. From 1996 to 2004, she studied at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (The Bolshoi Ballet Academy). From 1995 to 2004 she trained at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography and on graduating entered the corps of the Bolshoi Ballet, where she was promoted to principal in 2010. In 2011 she left the Bolshoi to join the Mikhailovsky Ballet as a principal. She is currently a principal dancer with the Royal Ballet in London.
Osipova has appeared as a guest artist with companies around the world. In March 2012 she became a principal of American Ballet Theatre, where she created the title role in Alexei Ratmansky’s The Firebird. Her awards include Golden Masks for her performances in In the Upper Room (2008) and La Sylphide (2009), Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards (Best Female Dancer, 2007, 2010 and 2014), Positano Dance Awards (Best Female Dancer, 2008 and 2011) and a Benois de la Danse Award (Best Female Dancer, 2008).

Yeah, right. She is downwright gorgeous, and probably one of the best dancers that ever existed. But, if you think she enjoys one of the most painful, horrific careers there is, you got another thing comig. I studied ballet very intensely for four years. I can,t put into words how hard it is and the amount of jealousy between dancers is immense! She,s driven, but that kind of obsession comes with a big price - the rest of your life, whatever it happens to be, is ruined.

@@marytarantinoo9118 You can speak for yourself. There's jealousy everywhere, and you can decide to let it ruin you, but that doesn't mean it will happen for every dancer.

Не могу сказать, что разбираюсь в музыке, балете или еще чем-нибудь. Но когда я вижу этот танец, я чувствую всю сладострастность секса, по моему телу поднимается жжение, и я чувствую жжение внутри. эта музыка, этот танец заставляет меня гореть внутри, мне хочется делать сумасшедшие вещи ...

That Giselle mad scene, even without the actual music and shot on a shaky camera moved me to tears. It comes alive and becomes ‘now’ when she does it. Wild.

There's a lot of depth in it, her Giselle. I think feeling for social equality and equality for women, not only grief for loss of a lover, in 'Giselle' when seen through modern eyes.

маруся морева, у балерин всегда была растяжка не хуже, а лучше , чем у "художниц". Вы, видимо, не в курсе. У этой балерины великолепные прыжки, ее темперамент хорош для партии Китри. Вместе с тем, абсолютно кондовая, жесткая шея, совсем непластичные руки. Для классической балерины это не допустимо. А все потому что, будучи ребенком Наталья Осипова занималась спортивной гимнастикой, а не хореографией. А там руки ставятся по-другому, будущую спортсменку готовили к силовым акробатическим упражнениям. И потом ей не повезло...не нашлось педагога, который бы исправил эту ошибку с грубыми, жесткими руками. "лучшая за последние 20 лет"... мне было даже неловко читать эти строки, вами написанные. Балерина, которая не в состоянии изжить свое детское спортивное прошлое. У меня такое впечатление, что для нее не важно , ЧТО ОНА ТАНЦУЕТ. Главное, чтобы было выше и быстрее, как в спорте. И все!!!!! Просто Наталья Осипова - проект, который удачно продвигается. Не совсем же бесталанная танцовщица.

The Russian way of ballet is the best in the world in my opinion. Put all the other stuff aside. The Russians with figure skating and ballet are incredible. They work extremely hard however. It’s a singular focus. That’s the only way you can be great. Keeping a life balance is hard. She has had to sacrifice a lot I’m sure but her hard work has helped turn this natural talent into something on the lines of Baryshnikov to me. Her acting skills as well are impeccable. It’s extremely rare for me to feel any real emotion from dancers but she draws you in. I’ve been a fan of ballet my whole life of 56 years. I figure skate so ballet is a big part. Wonderful thanks for sharing
