@@samsonpug The horse isn't incredible, this was just a terrible ride by the other jockeys. Its an apprentice race so it kind of explains itself. They let the front runner get way too far ahead and couldn't catch him in the end. Not really anything special about the winning horse

SLOW PACE , the jockeys 20 lenghts behind let the 2 leaders get away with murder , Hence the first 2 NEVER SLOWED
Who knew the Derby would go the same 😂😂
Now that's a real horse race! I love the distance races, but they are practically non-existent in Canada and the US. Mostly sprints. I remember the classic distance champion Kelso, who won the Jockey Club Gold Cup 5 times in a row--when it was 21/2 miles. Kelso was amazing.

I'm with you, and the fact that distances are not run anymore is a death knell to h orse facing for me. Speed is everything here. In England and the continent there is more to horse racing than speed. Their times are slower, but their horses have more endurance. Stamina to me makes a great horse. A 4 miler is what I like. Steeple chases. Watch Hedgehunter win and run fast after 4 miles!!!
well i think the horse deserves a well earned pat, he or she went really well, and seemed to like balling along in front, well done Wanaasah. The horse basically carried the jockey around.

I don’t know why but this reminds me of big red at the Belmont
I once watched a race where one of the horses had a really late start and the rest of the field had 20 lengths advantage( it was a race without starting stalls). Somehow the horse made it over the jumps and came from 20 lengths back to win. I’ve never seen a race like it. It was so amazing.

justmanelol... That was how Ron Turcotte got Secretariat to establish that immortal 2:24 for 1.1/2Miles at the Belmonte, and the sudden burst of speed from back to front in the middle of the Preakness race, said he just allowed the Horse to run at will, if it was a more controlling Jockey who actually times his races, these records might not have been created, for no Jockey who has his charge under control would allow a horse to actually sprint 1.1/2 miles, and the crazy burst of speed in the middle of the Preakness, I guess he was lucky to find the right horse for his possible incompetence, who knows?!!!

All the grandstand jockeys, good ride good rating, good horse, better think about bringing him over for the Melbourne cup bring the hoop.
If anybody remembers a horse called Night City from about 20 years ago they would remember this was his tactic in every race he ran. He was a low grade handicapper who used to be campaigned at 1 mile 2f to 1 mile 4f at the all weather tracks. He used to start his races like his bollocks had been set on fire and do a sprint for the first 5f putting sometimes half the course between himself and the rest. He would just coast into the finish after firing his bullets at the start. Sometimes he got caught and sometimes he didn't. I won shitliads on him. Full points to the jockey on the winner and very few to the rest!
Good mare by Cape Cross makes all, even managing to speed up in final furlong. It get's to a point in the race, when the others give up, although they can't appear to, which makes the performance artificially dramatic. Will she show up in a maiden hurdle at Cheltenham?

Usually horses that go that fast from the start and establish a huge lead will fade in the last turn and come back to the field and be passed in the stretch. They almost never maintain that large of a lead and still win. Sometimes are very lucky if they can still win by a nose. What made this extraordinary is the horse maintained that pace for the entire two miles without anyone gaining ground on the winner. I've never seen that happen in such a long race before.
