Extra Thoughts On Today's Artemis Video | TMI
Thought I'd try something new on this channel and I recorded a little extra video with my thoughts on the Artemis missions. Let me know if this is something you'd like to see more of!
Also if you haven't seen it yet, here's the video I'm referring to:

I second that thought!
Hey Joe, Love your earnest video style and concise presentation skills! I still watch your content even for topics I'm pretty well versed in, because its enjoyable seeing another person with enthusiastic knowledge pitching what they find important. I like the raw TMI content too. As far as your note early in this video as far as creating timely content, just want to offer that you aren't obligated to! I recall you feeling a bit burned out a while back. Glad to be getting your content, and selfishly happy its relevant to current news cycles, but I don't think it's worth forcing if you won't enjoy it. People can get information from wikipedia, but Joe's relaxed & informed presentation of the topic is best served at your best. Thanks for the content, cheers. -long time viewer, infrequent commenter.

Thanks so much for this comment. I means a lot. In regards to being more "timely" it's just because the channel has been struggling algorithmically lately. Hence the experimentation with Shorts as well (VERY reluctantly).

Yes. I heard "uncrude missions," as in, "Finally, not a tactless group of space folk."

It is a criminally underrated show. It’s so well written, and I never know where the plot is headed. Season 3 especially…OMG.
Personally I think it's great that we are heading back to the moon. It makes perfect sense that in preparing for Mars and beyond, it also gives us opportunity to expand on the Apollo missions. In addition, I hope they decide to revisit earlier landing sites, which will hopefully silence the "We never went" brigade!

Thanks for mentioning Ukraine, Joe. Even if it was just one sentence, just one word. It gives us hope here that we are not utterly alone and forgotten in this devastating war.

How much of Ukraine is left? I mean you can't say Ukraine is winning. They may not have been colonised but is it a pyrrhic victory now?
You’re a good egg Joe. Thanks for just being “you” sometimes. Many folks appreciate it. Also your pragmatism, you allow it to be mixed up with a bit of hopefulness. I agree with that approach and share it with you. Except that there really are aliens. But other than that, yup. Ok. Well, looking forward to your next videos!
Thank you for a supporting video with rambles, really, the raw thoughts help. I hope this is the next space race. As a child raised in the late 90’s, I saw the accomplishments of the Apollo and missions after through the lens of hindsight. We were making leaps and bounds, look like ant’s steps. I truly think the only way to advance to the stars, is to race there, just as our accessors raced to distant lands

Artemis I is rolling to the pad tomorrow night, August 16th 2022! Good timing on the videos Joe. Edit - I really need to watch the video I am commenting on, before I decide to comment. Haaa ! Im guilty of that too.
Thank you for everything you do Joe! From these detailed videos on the Artemis program, to your podcasts, to your mad ramblings here :) You're unbelievably consistent with how you manage to educate in a fun and engaging way about topics that i don't always have the same amount of interest in. I still try to watch every video, because i know they'll be of high quality!
It truly is a good day when a Joe Scott rambling TMI video is uploaded.
Hah, you're the kind of person everyone would like to have a drink with and just discuss some of the latest topics! :D Nice to have you, thanks for your content! Take care
this channel is so good for the high. thank you for this pothead specific channel. we love you
Go to that launch, Joe! I grew up in Florida, went to the Cape in Dec. 1968 to watch Apollo VIII, which circled the moon, then a little later, went to the first shuttle launch. Neither time was I able to get closer than 7 miles to the pad, but even there, the sound is so "solid" you feel as though you could lean over and not fall, that the sound pressure itself would hold you upright. Get there and have something you can tell the grandkids about later ;)
I'm subscribed to your channels and have never posted anything, and after a few not so great weeks, I'm having a pretty good day. Thanks!
Great idea. I'd love to see you expand on some of the subject that you cover on the main channel
So fun to see you back over here! I always enjoy tmi!Joe :D
I like that your videos are not 'timely', because I know that I can go back years in your playlist and your old videos will still be great and relevant.
Good timing, got a late start on the most recent video and you uploaded this almost right before I was done watching said video
Tks Joe, keep posting here just talking extras about the video and also your personal view.
I also love the „unscripted“ videos. Feels more like a conversation. While some people say, the moon only destracts us from the real goal Mars, one thing is clear: we should test stuff in our vicinity, where we have a chance to come home within 3 days or so if something goes wrong etc. And once we know, we can do it, we should go to Mars, from where you can only return wirhin a year or even longer (depending on the transfer orbits used) and where you are simply dead, if something goes wrong, because nobody could even launch a supply or rescue mission that would reach Mars in time!
I'm really happy to see this because now there's a bunch of your videos that I haven't seen before! You're funny and weird and talk about science-y stuff. That's my jam!
I appreicate your thoughts and videos. It always makes my day. Cheers!
Hi Joe. I love your stuff, every week. i was scrolling through your older videos again the other day, and realized that i miss the mind-blow binges, speed rounds, and the old 'woo-woo' factor. im sure there are reasons; just thinking out loud. Thanks!
Always like seeing updates on this channel!
Cool Monday surprise. Thanks Joe.
Thanks for bouncing back on the topic, Joe. All for, as much TMI and OLF as you can muster. Love your face and content.
Booked my tickets. Called off work and scheduled flight after seeing your video. I'm seeing this thing.
Your TMI videos are kinda nice in a different way than the main channel. Without all the visuals or heavy details, I can have it on in the background while I'm doing other things. I don't have to focus as much. Interesting to hear your thoughts!
More of this this is excellent thought fodder throw your thoughts up in the air and let's all through our thoughts against it and see what sticks together
There’s a car channel - Big Car - and he often produces a sort of TMI video on his second channel - Little Car. It lets you watch the first one and then decide if you want more. It’s a good idea.
I'll listen to your ramblings any day joe. Love your content!
Free style exploration, change, inertia..what a concepi.concept.. Nice touches, my man!
If this is the first step toward manufacturing infrastructure off earth, I am absolutely ALL for it! When they did the Apollo program, we were able to do it at the ragged bleeding edge of aerospace technology. As much as I have bemoaned 50 years of LEO, it taught us how to actually LIVE in space, instead of just going on a brief site-seeing trip. Now we have better tech, which should increase the safety margin somewhat, and give us more capability once we get there. This time, instead of just planting flags and gathering rocks, I hope we begin building infrastructure and researching resource extraction.
I really like "extra thoughts". Nice to know I am not the only one who self-guesses as a hobby :)
Thank YOU for making videos the way you do!
Great to see this happening. And a passing contest or a something measuring contest is what it takes then so be it. Got humanity to space then to the moon 50 years ago. Beats an actual war!
Yess another Joe video ! Love your work mate, your stories keep me sane at work 😌you the man
I'll always watch your videos joe, keep doing what your doing. I love this free form style.
Love the idea of somewhat of a bts, or extras TMI video accompanying each Monday upload. Would 100% get a view from me every week after the main channel video. It could even cover a little about who wrote that particular script
I like this... it would be interesting to hear your thoughts about the formation of the video idea, maybe some challenges a video had, some alternate script jokes.
Thank you for putting up follow through content!
"You're appreciated. Very much. And I hope you're having a good day." No u. In all seriousness though, I love your work. I'm subscribed to a lot of channels on KZread and the main channel (although this one, too) is one of the small handful whose videos I consistently click without hesitation when I see them. They're always well-researched, balanced in their takes, and well-crafted from a visual standpoint as well. Glad to see you getting some real attention for them and I wish you nothing but further success.
Hi Joe Just also would like to join the rest of all your fans saying... great work and love what you do and never can get enough! Maybe that is the Canadian in me!! LOL No matter what! I love that you're covering more current events, It's wonderful to see thing I keep up on myself through another pair of eyes! Please don't lose the diversity of your channel though!
You are also appreciated, Joe. Living in New Zealand, NASA launches are a long way to go, but we do have Rocketlab. I had hoped to be at the CAPSTONE launch, but the delays put it outside my available window. I was sat on the beach for one of their earlier launches that got scrubbed - or held - just 9 minutes from launch and then too couldn't wait for the reschedule, so I am yet to see a launch in person. Well... unless you count the model rocket I launched myself. Soon! It would be great to see a video profiling the Artemis astronauts. Maybe you could even swing some interviews.
6:20 glad you said "spacecraft", cause the Tesla Roadster has gone much farther 😄
Joe, my dude. Idk if there is a single piece of content that you’ve made that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed. Some more than once. Lol
We thank you Joe, for your company
I'm always down for more Joe content. You do good work!
Maybe wait a day and follow up answering several common questions that popped up from the main video. That way it's more of a reaction video to your video and can be more casual than your formal videos. This would give you more timely interaction with your viewers. I would think that would be beneficial for a channel.

I was having this same thought. Perhaps not for every video on the main channel but for ones that Joe has more to say about. Read through the comments on the main and a couple days later post up here if there are things to address. Side benefit would be a spike in subs on this channel from people that want that unscripted deeper dive into interesting topics.
Lol you are 100% right. The last couple weeks things just blew up with the PR on Artemis. Pretty good it's finally happening :)
I grew up in Florida and went to several shuttle launches. You definitely should try and go to one of these in person! It really is hard though coming from out of state because they get cancelled so often. I would often drive over knowing the chance of seeing a launch was low. One time I woke up, saw the launch was scrubbed and went back to sleep. I left my parents a message so they wouldn't go but they missed it and drove up from South Florida anyway!
Hi Joe! It's nice to see you here!
I'm a fan and enjoy your more freestyle style on this channel - no whizz-bang needed here dude - you had me at the http header.
I personally love your tmi videos. Stream of thought is very interesting to me and I enjoy listening to your story telling and thought process. Maybe I missed an update but how are your eyes doing? Big fan, wife and I watch your videos every Monday. Take care!
Thanks! Thank you for being a great creator!
That nasa presentation by Bill Nelson was definitely worth the mention. I actually watched it without cringing. I think I misjudged the Administrator. The guy wasn’t just reading a script. He was just speaking from expertise and genuine passion for space exploration. No awkward “Zuckerberg” like hand gestures or unnecessary arm movements. I was not expecting to be impressed 😳
So glad you made this one
Welcome back to your channel
Love your content Joe. Keep up the good work 👍
Going to the moon first always seemed like the better path to me. There is so much technology and infrastructure we need to figure out that will benefit us on later missions. It seems far safer to "kick the tires" in our own neighborhood rather than bet everything on an interplanetary program right out of the gate. It's like an athlete getting back into shape after a long retirement, we need the practice.
I always love these videos.
Hey it's the man behind, the man. Keep up the good work buddy your making Joe look really good on the main channel! Love the work man! ❤️🔥
A deep dive in the astronauts would be cool.😀👍
I like this, talking about Monday's video. I think you could add reading some of the comments that you find interesting in said video as well.

Brilliant videos!
Glad to be here Joe!
sounds like a great plan!
This is really a Bourbon chat without the bourbon ( but totally with the bourbon )
I commented on the other video that the group of astronauts that were previously shortlisted for Artemis are no longer shortlisted. In a recent Artemis press conference the head of the astronaut office said that every active astronaut is now under consideration for Artemis.
I'm dumber than a bag of hammers, but I actually do keep up with Artemis. Because it's cool. Love these Artemis vids. Keep 'em going.

I really appreciate that in your content you mention the incredible work Nasa is doing. Often the exorbitant cost comparison of NASA projects compared to spaceX is enough to put NASA's work aside. On the other hand, the vehicle of the Artemis program absolutely cannot be compared to falcon 9/see starship. SpaceX can still afford to blow up its vehicles, but when Starship is matured with its booster and costs several hundred million, the pace of development will become by much smaller increments and the relative costs can then be compared. Whatever I say, I appreciate the work of both and I greatly appreciate your work! Cher from Quebec
