Students who watch this on request of their teachers don't realize that, but the show is pretty amazing. With all the limitations they had to deal with in order to make this show comprehensive for the beginners, they actually created a quite compelling story with some pretty interesting character arcs. Didn't watch other versions, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used the same script - it just works so well. If somebody involved in the creation of this series is reading this, I want to say Thank You, this series is very helpful in the process of learning French

@@brianbv9605 That would be an overkill :J But I found a different solution: Click on the "..." menu under the bottom-right corner of the video and pick "Open transcript" from the drop-down menu. Then the full list of subtitles will show up to the right of the video. You can select it and copy-paste to a text file.

The brilliant thing about these conversations is that Sam doesn't quite get the subtle pronunciations of French, so the other characters always repeat after him the way it should be pronounced. We learn from his mistakes.

I guess the idea is that Sam confused "museum" with "maison" in the French version, and with "mansion" and "mansión" in the English and Spanish versions, respectively.

i've been studying french in school, and with the captions on in this show, i understood most words and phrases. it was really funny, and at some times i felt as if i was watching a show i would normally watch

I've been revisiting this show over and over since I started learning French over 13 years ago.. it never fails to entertain! and its an amazing way to learn French 10/10

Love it. They are speaking clear enough and not too fast. Even when it's a little fast they speak very clear. It is perfect for someone between the beginning and intermediate level of French like myself. Thanks guys.

Remember to watch with French subtitles guys. They say you learn 7℅ more than people watching without subs

Theyve done studies which show that language learners who watch with subtitles improve understanding rapidly at the beginning, then plateau and then over time their listening comprehension then nose dives, as their reading skills improve, as they become dependent on the subs and they stop listening, whilst those who listen without subtitles improve their listening comprehension more slowly, but over time get much better at it. I encourage my students to do both, using subs when needed to gain full comprehension, but to eventually learn to listen without needing the subs. Especially if your mother tongue is phonetic, like Spanish, you have to learn to listen with your ears and not your eyes! Do what works for you :)

I have been learning french for the past 3 months, I always listen with subtitles, I have improved a lot, and now I’m able to “listen with my ears”, as you say, but I believe what you say it’s true. For me, the best method with short videos is watch twice without subtitles, and then with subtitles once or twice, depending on the difficulty, and I thank that has made me improve a lot.

Qu'est-ce que c'est? = What is that? Qu'est-ce que c'est que ça? = What is this? In short, the repetition of the subject (ce/ça) marks an emphasis.

I tried to watch this when I first started to learn French. I am re-watching now with subtitles, but it is very cool to see how much I understand even without the subtitles!!!! YAY!!! In fact I caught a wrong translation or two. So excited!

I am SO glad I found this. I'm supposed to hand in an assignment for French class and I have to watch four episodes of a French show of 25/30 minutes and write a summary of each episode in Dutch (my native language). This show is perfect for this assignment! I had been searching for French shows for an hour and I finally found one that's not that difficult to follow, so now I finally have courage for the assignment!

Love this show. Thanks for sharing. I studied French at school and it was taught in such a boring way that I didn't get far with it. This show actually makes me want to find out what the words are and practice them so great video, thanks for sharing

I just started learning French today with help of duolingo & I am amazed how I am able to atleast understand 10-20% words they are saying and 60-70% context. This show is amazing. It is slowed in order to give you the ability to tune your ears to the fast french dialogue. Same with Spanish. It can often be too fast and fluid for non native speakers to pick up on the individual words and phrases so slowing it allows for an easier time with this.

I know it isn't the best show for entertainment but I must say it's helped me retain a lot of words I've been learning because I keep seeing them being used over and over again in different situations during the show so it is helpful

I loved this show when i was learning Spanish and I’m so happy that it exists for French too and I love that’s it’s pretty much exactly the same so now it’s even easier for me to follow

I feel I can learn French well with this series, so funny entertaining💜

Hasta ahora había hecho cursos por internet donde sólo había palabras, palabras y algún texto. Pero EXTRA son personas en acción. Uno aprende pronunciando y viendo sus acciones. Es un acercamiento a la vida real. Muchas gracias a la persona que ha puesto estos vídeos a disposición de la gente, gracias a los actores y productores de la serie. Hay 7 capítulos en youtube y creo que existen hasta 14 o 15.¿ Por que no se pone el resto de capítulos? gracias

Guessing you have seen the Spanish version of EXTRA? With "Lola, Ana, and Pablo" as the other characters. I am learning a lot from it. I found it first and now found this French version. I love it! I took French in High School and, learned more as the years went by. I went to Paris for my 50th birthday and want to go to Paris again this summer, so this will be perfect to practice/learn more before I go.

He became known as VJ at MTV Europe as Vico and Maes Country in the Dutch TV series Lotte. Biography After high school, Oostveen studied International Management at the HEAO and attended an acting course at the Mountview Theatre School in London. After about a month of learning French I can understand 80% or what’s said without subtitles. As an English speaker French is very easy for me to learn. Duolingo has been extremely useful for me. Highly recommend it, whilst also using videos like this to practice listening and other websites to pick up on sentence structure, grammar etc.

The more I start to understand french over the years, the more I begin to realize why Sam fell for Annie and not Sasha. Because in the beginning Annie was more respectful of Sam and accepted him for his little mistakes while Sasha was annoyed with him.

I remember my french teacher showing this to us in class in high school... damn i was the only one laughing... and i still am lmao

I only studied french for only a few months but it's so strange that i can hear the words a little bit and can actually spell the words in my mind, thank you for this. I'll watch this if i get better with french :)

It seems to be a really good serie for people who are learning the french language. And with the subtitles and the way they speak (slower as usual), the learners can use it to pratice their comprehension (and learn a lot of typical structures the french people use) ! Good job !!!

My favourite TV show forever and ever. It's so good and helped my French tremendously.

Man I just remembered watching this in French class the other day and decided to look it up.

I had no idea EXTRA was done in French too, I loved it back in the day!! Fab, I really ought to start learning French seriously.
