‘Extra’ Archive: Michael Massee on Brandon Lee’s Death (2005 Interview)

Ойын-сауық

Earlier this week, “The Crow” actor Michael Massee died at the age of 61 of an unknown cause.
Massee was unfortunately most known for accidentally killing Brandon Lee on the set of their movie “The Crow” in 1993. In 2005, he broke his silence on the freak accident, telling “Extra,” “Since then, I’m very conscious of the dangers of making a movie… What happened to Brandon was a tragic accident and it’s something that I’m going to live with.” This was the only time Massee spoke out about the tragedy in front of cameras.

He passed, yet every headline mentions how he accidentally killed Brandon. It's disgusting. His death was tragic, but the fact that he had to live with it is just as worse. Imagine having to apologize to his family and friends knowing it wasn't your fault. Imagine people hating you for that. Imagine the impact of having to try and film anything else with a prop and being afraid of something bad happening. It's one thing to kill in war, another to be evil and kill for pleasure or revenge, but being feeling responsible for a death that was 100% not your fault? Life-shattering.

Alec Baldwin never even wants to admit he made a mistake he just wants to blame the tool he just wants to blame everybody else but him like everything is a conspiracy to Alec Baldwin even the FBI say this is outrageous. All had to deal with admit the same as what Michael Massee admitted. If Alec Baldwin admitted what he had done he would’ve gotten a pass but instead nope he is the biggest selfish ass.

Siya Manci A real bullet tip was lodged in the gun due to a decision decision to convert real bullets into blanks and dummy rounds. The belief is that a dummy round still had a live primer with enough Force to pop the bullet tip into the barrel of the gun, and it was not properly checked before someone put a blank into the gun and handed it to the actor. He may feel guilty, but he is not responsible. There should be a Firearms Master on set that's supposed to handle all of this crap properly. He just takes the gun and does as directed, when directed.

He died of stomach cancer and it was so strange, that when the doctors discovered the cancer in his stomach, it started spreading from the same place that bullet hit Brandon Lee. it was an accident and for him was a big trauma. He was great actor who suffered much from this tragedy. He didn't kill Brandonon purpose, he didn't know about the gun and like he said you will never get over such thing. He is not a murderer. It was awful when the announce his death "The actor who shot Brandon Lee has died". Like he is a killer. He was an actor, not bloody cold murderer. He had many good roles to be remembered for, and not the tragedy.

Although I sometimes speculate Brandon and Bruce's death being a coordinated assassination from rivals, I never put the blame on this man. I can't imagine what it must've felt like to accidentally place a fatal round into someone at point blank range. That is a heavy toll to carry. Furthermore, when you attend weapons training, you put all of your faith in the firearm instructor to have everything in check. It's a similar situation here. He was given the gun from an expert handler. He's an actor whose only job is to point and pull the trigger. He didn't know all the particulars.
