    It's really comforting to see an experienced professional do this and yet there are still some blemishes/swirls left. Makes me realize, as a very new detailer, I don't have to provide 'perfection' unless the client is willing to pay for that extra work. Some just want it clean and shiny but perfection is more expensive...even then, it may not be possible if the paintwork is damaged. This still looks great compared to before Also, I'm so glad you commented that cleaning glass is your nemesis - I've been struggling with that. Glad to know that even the experts find it tricky

    Hi! Thanks so much! Yes when it comes to polishing and paint correction there is what we call the “Detailer’s Dilemma”. How far should one go to achieve desired results as opposed to going all the way and sometimes even to far to achieve “perfection”. Perfect paint is pretty much impossible unless it’s repainted meticulously and then wet sanded and polished to perfection. But yes I certainly am a firm believer in reasonable expectations. 😎👍🏼

    Yeah I tried that but it leaves micro marring on this paint. I needed a solution that leaves no marring. It’s just what happens with microfiber pads. Even though the 50/50 can finish in some paints nicely, it’s not the answer to everything. This was not a correction, simply and enhancement, so I only go as far a need to go, not trying to correct the paint anymore than what is needed for this job. Thanks though. 👍🏼

    Phil, Speed has 10% cut, 20% polish, and 70% wax in the formula. That's is probably why we get more out of Speed than HD Polish. The only time I had issues with Speed was when I was doing a car in 40° temps with the hard orange Buff and Shine pads. If I had taken my black pads I probably would have been fine. It was so bad that I ran to O'rilleys and picked up a bottle of Megs M06 Cleaner Wax, which navigated that cool day effortlessly. I used M06 earlier that fall season on another vehicle of theirs, and I was surprised at how many swirls it removed. Seriously completely stunned.

  • @MirandaDetailing

    @MirandaDetailing

    4 жыл бұрын

    Well it depends on the paint and what the customer is expecting. The slower you go the more correction you will achieve with certain products. I can get really good correction with 3D Speed going slow with an orange lake country pad. But if I go faster the correction is not as good. So try it on different vehicles and see how the product and pad combos work and see if you need to go slower or if a little faster may also work. There are many variables that into polishing sometimes you just have to jump in and see how the paint reacts.

  • @MirandaDetailing

    Hi. Thanks. So this is OUR paint enhancement service. Each Detailer may have a slightly different definition of what a paint correction or paint enhancement is. For our enhancements we strive for at least 50% swirl removal. So in this case 3D Speed with a medium pad did an amazing job. The paint was relatively soft and responded really well to this combo. 3D speed does have cutting ability and does remove swirls and not just fills them. When worked in like a compound it cuts. If just quickly passed over the paint and applied like a wax it just glosses and fills the swirls.

    Hi. If it’s just a wax or sealant just use a good degreaser or all purpose cleaner when you’re washing to weaken it and remove most of it. But if it’s a ceramic coating you’re going to have to compound it off, like you’re doing a full paint correction. Then you can polish it with 3DSpeed

    I actually haven’t tried Menzerna 3in1 yet but I have heard it’s good. I just love 3D Speed so much and I’m used to using it all the time and even in direct sunlight on black cars. So it’s a win for me. But I have also heard that McKee’s 360 amzn.to/34YXZuz. Is also very good and the same price.

    3 in 1 cuts a little more, finishes more consistently on a wider variety of paints, but it can be very "grabby" to remove. Speed wipes off with ease, and is about half the price. 3D and Menzerna are my favorite polishes.

    Ever detailers “enhancement polish” is slightly different. For us we try to achieve 50% or more swirl removal. I tried 3D Speed this summer on my sister's well paint abused Jeep Cherokee, and it was AMAZING in how well it removed the hundreds of spiderwebs and scratches (some quite deep!) and how easy it goes on and comes off... but the coating doesn't bead for all that long... maybe 1-2 washes... 2 weeks at most. It needs something else on top of it that lasts longer... or maybe I am not understanding the goals of this product is supposed to attain, however as an AIO product, it's specialty is removing scratches, not longer term protection... even Turtle Wax ICE lasts longer... lol Would I buy it again? Yes, as a light scratch remover, it is excellent, but not as something used as a protective or help keep the car beading.

    Those are some incredible products. Add 3D One, and you have a great trio of polishes. Extra cut, medium cut, and ultra fine. ACA520 is the "secret weapon" I save for really critical jobs. If 3D One isn't finishing I'll typically use AAT502. Sometimes 3D One will haze up the paint, sort of like Meguiar's M205. AAT501 is also a quality compound. I actually really like it on yellow and orange Americana pads - which are made by Lake Country. It's a different compound. It seems to start out as a kind of thinner or wetter emulsion, and then turns into a film to cut with, and when you're done there is barely anything to buff off the paint.

    @BrandonBuilds-pf1hz you can. But then I tested different dilutions and found 1:10 works just as well and saves on product.

    Good tip. I’ll try to do that. Do you prefer voiceover explaining the process instead? Becasue sometimes that can be much easier for me. I do tend to ramble on. But I also try to answer questions and explain things. What do you think?

    Haha. I know right. I wish I could kindly suggest something back to them, or make some joke of it but people either take it the wrong way or get nasty. Whatever. I may start a new series called “stupid comment of the week” and have some fun with these silly or stupid comments.
