    Electric Violin Shop Oscar Stern here, if you use a Wound Violin E String, you won't get any squeak, which means no pain, no worries. Jordan makes Electric Violins with up to 9 Strings tuned Eb1, Bb1, F2, C3, G3, D4, A4, E5, A5 (Mark Wood is working on that too). The thing I love about the 9 String Violin is that the High A5 String (same as a Soprano Violin which is super adorable) adds some Shimmer. Super Sensitive is working on a High B5 String for Violin that will actually be Tin plated, which means no squeak, no pain, no worries.

    Electric Violin Shop There are 7 String Acoustic Violins, & what's unique about them is that the body is thicker than a Standard Violin body to help the lower notes resonate better which allowed the Acoustic Violin to have all the Extended range fun an Electric Violin would have.

    Acoustic versions of these instruments exist too which I find ideal for unplugged settings. Glasser makes 5 String Violins, 5 String Violas, & 5 String Cellos (all tuned C, G, D, A, E low to High available w/ an optional Pickup) out of Carbon Composite. I did find this video:kzread.info/dash/bejne/d5aYybKSg9LPo8Y.html comparing the tone between the 5 String Violin & 5 String Viola both tuned the same way. What they usually do w/ 5 String Acoustic Violins is make the Ribs a tad bit deeper so that the C String resonates better (this applies to the lower strings on extended range Acoustic Violins too).

    1:56 What are the Strings on the extended range Violins & Violas? We just keep going down in 5ths, so the Tuning from high to Low is E5, A4, D4, G3, C3, F2, & Bb1 (same as the lowest note on a Bassoon). The 8 & 9 String Violins add on an Eb1 (Major third above Low B on a 5 String Bass, Minor third above Low C on a 5ths Tuned Bass), & the Highest String is another A String but an Octave higher (same as the Soprano Violin) so it adds that shimmer. The extended range Cellos share the same tuning but down an Octave, & the 5ths Tuned Bass down 2 Octaves.

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern6343 жыл бұрын

    If we replaced all the Strings with Octave Higher Strings it would sound like an Operatic Soprano called a Coloratura which is sweet but those really thin strings would then have to be made out of rocket wire coated in a special alloy to enhance its strength.

    Fun to play, but we can add 2 more strings. Mark Wood should make a new 9 String Viper that in addition to the 4 normal strings, we have Low C, Low F, Low Bb, Low Eb, and now a High A (someday it'll become a High B when thin and Strong enough).

    You can tune a Double Bass in Fifths too (6 String Version F, C, G, D, A, E) by using strings designed for that tuning because as Joel Quarrington said 5ths Tuning treats the Double Bass like the rest of the string section.

    Jordan went to 9 Stings (Low Eb, plus High A/eventually High B) so the Wood company should make those instruments, & the 9 String Cello (Low Eb0, & High B4) would compete with a 9 String Violin, but a 9 String Upright Electric Bass tuned in Fifths (2 Octaves below a 9 String Violin) will match the register of an Octobass.

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern6343 жыл бұрын

    Electric Violin Shop Wood should make 9 String Vipers with a Low Eb & ending on top a Soprano High A (eventually a High B), as well as 9 String Cobras tuned an Octave lower than the 9 String Vipers cause you can go well below the range of a Double Bass into the range of an Octobass. I just wish beginners had fun with the 7 String Fretted Vipers (Easier to play than Standard Violins or Violas), & even the 6 String Fretted Cobra Cellos (Easier to play than Regular Cellos) cause the frets make it easier to find the notes, geared tuners make it easier to tune, & additional strings make transposing easier. If we have fractional sized versions then we'll rock. If we have Double Basses tuned in Fifths then that'll have better intonation.

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern6343 жыл бұрын

    Electric Violin Shop With more Strings (up to 9) you can easily transpose to match the ranges of singers. A 9 String Cello can go into the OctoBass Range, & the B4 String is rather cool.

    Electric Violin Shop The smaller spacing makes it easier to reach the strings, & getting the bowing angle correct has been facilitated by separating each string properly, so that means it will be super beginner friendly. The Eb1 String is super thick so the CodaBow Joule will help, on the 9 String Violin that Shimmering A5 String is rather thin, & it comes with a tube to protect it plus if you play closer to the bridge it'll ring like a Bell. I'm sure John Jordan & Mark Wood are really good friends.

    @UC6W4QkBDKjzTrCNG3pJYIKw Extended range Electric bowed instruments with frets are highly recommend for beginners cause they're alot sturdier than Acoustic instruments & the fretted versions are much easier to find the notes plus the extended range versions makes it easier to play in every key. I find the 7 String Fretted Viper Violin & 6 String Fretted King Cobra 6 String Cello super ideal for String Orchestras cause the geared tuning machines facilitate string changes, the frets make it easier to play more in tune & the extended range from the extra strings makes it easier to transpose keys on the fly so they can play along with Concert Band. I also find these instruments ideal Show Choirs that wanna bow along on an instrument while they sing cause sometimes you just need to add a bit of Rock n Roll to the Choral singing (that's how Guitarists say sometimes you just gotta change it up). The geared tuning machines make tuning alot easier especially for kids. They should have all the bowed instruments equipped with Geared tuners.

    I think most of the reason for violins settling on 4 strings is actually string technology. Gut strings have a very narrow range of optimal specs (tension, thickness, length), and while E strings are just under the breaking point, a gut C at the violin string length would just be way too thick and stiff. With modern synthetics a 5 string acoustic can sound quite good with some tweaks to the body. But electrics take it to a whole other level for sure.

    Electric Violin Shop My question is what does the Soprano Violin A String Look like? Show me a Soprano Violin A String in a Video Someday cause it's interesting. The New Violin Family should play on Electrified versions of those instruments so they can record, & the song in particular they could start with is The Greatest Show arranged by Mark Brymer transcribed for New Violin Family Orchestra (or Octet w/ the new Subcontrabass) w/ the Optional Choir Vocals, Piano (both parts in Score) as well as Combo Section. Fun fact the String parts have lyrics so the players can follow along w/ the Choir, & sometimes they have no Choice but to sing their heart out while playing.

    We should have Acoustic extended range Instruments join the fun cause they might produce a special sound. What about 9 String Double Basses tuned in Fifths with a Low Eb & a High B? Well then you can go well below the range of a Double Bass into the range of an Octo-Bass. And if you have a 9 String Violin with a High B, then you can go well above the range of a Violin into the range of a Treble Violin. I call the Treble Violin the new Baby of the family cause it's just so adorable.

    Speaking as a 6-string player, my approach is wholly different from yours. Most guys I know who play 6-7-string violins do exactly what you're doing in terms of repertoire. I write what you might call "programme music" aimed at being music to accompany audio and video. This means a more organic approach (hate that term, but can't think of anything better), wherein I often write music for the timbre of individual strings. For example, when representing a slow, plodding character, I'll write a slow, plodding passage just for the F string, or the sound equivalent of onomatopoeia if you will. The usual fast twiddly-bits for birds, rolling cross-strings for water, etc.

    Super Sensitive is working very hard on a High B String for Violin. This instrument will add alot to Concert Band. Mike Block added Cello to Marching Band by making a special strap for it that allows you to play Cello Standing up. I'm purchasing a Cello with 5 (or 6) Strings because I find them ideal for taking Violin & Viola repertoire an Octave down. What about a 7 String Double Bass tuned in Fifths? It would be tuned Bb-1, F0, C1, G1, D2, A2, E3 same tuning as a 7 String Violin but 2 Octaves lower which means you can go into the register of an Octo-Bass which is tuned like a Cello but 2 Octaves lower. Isn't the Sensicore High A Soprano Violin String a tiny one? An Octave Higher Violin String set would make your Violin sound like a Coloratura Soprano, & that might be great in case you have gig with a group that's without a Coloratura Soprano.

    I had a 5-string with a high A made using piccolo violin specs, and tuning it F C G D A. The idea was to have the same accessable range as a regular violin while having the timbre of the piccolo. I had to approach a number of luthiers in order to get it made because the traditionalists wouldn't touch the project with a barge pole. It's an acoustic and it works just fine.

    @electricviolinshopaccount2045

    I would restring it from treble to bass, starting with the highest (E) string. Most seven strings have three tuners on the treble side and four on the left, so the treble side tuners will be E, A, and D. The E string should be on the lowest peg (the one closest to the bridge), then the A string, then the D string. On the bass side, start with the top peg (the furthest away from the bridge), which should be the G string. From top to bottom (farthest from the bridge to the nearest), the strings should be G, then C, then F, then B-flat. Each string is a perfect fifth lower than the one to its immediate left; if you tune by ear, just listen for the fifth to ring true, otherwise, you should be able to use any chromatic tuner to get each string in tune.
