Certain journalists given the assignment and privilege of covering the team were overheard in public describing the 2-time national championship team in those ways. @@bigbds222 Watch the whole clip, at 5:00 mark. Basically, she says she is thankful for Clark, for raising the level of the game and putting viewership/interest. That is true leadership, instead of tearing people down, she is thankful. Staley and Cardoso (Not Clark) are being interviewed on CNBC finance channel of all things. You don't even see men's NCAA champs being interviewed on this. This whole increase doesn't happen with out Catlin and probably doesn't happen with out LSU (Reese) and South Carolina. Having just one superstar doesn't work. People love rivalries. WNBA is fairly new, as Coach Staley stated it took over 28 years for NBA to rise up. It took superstars such as Kareem, Magic/Bird, Jordan to build it. If Coach Staley can be appreciative and see the opportunity, so can we all. Even this debate on this channel is good.

True sports fans understand😮that regardless of the sport (golf, basketball, soccer, baseball, football, volleyball, tennis, etc.), there are growing pains moving from one level to another. Some highly viewed rookies do not make it or don't make it the way their fans expected them to. Whether Caitlin Clark is fast enough, fluid enough, has enough dexterity, instantaneous reactions remains to be seen. Every level of increase of sports results in a talent increase of the competition. Some rookies arrive closer to blemding in or surpassing the basic talent levels of their step up to the next level; some require more time to adjust. Also, Caitlin may have to play shooting guard or point forward for these adjustment issues. She may not be able to keep pace with quite a few point guards in the WNBA or European pro leagues. Raven Johnson, in the NCAAW Championship game, supposedly 4 inches shorter than Clark, 3 times picked her pocket on steals ( one resulting in scoring layup by Raven), 🚫 blocked her out on rebounding, disrupted her passing angles, and her teammates copied the technique demonstrated by Alexis Morris and later, Raven Johnson, and Nika Muhl. The pro women and coaches watch college games, too.

Is historically done to black athletes specifically black women. The media is an assassin of character of black athletes. LSU won the championship but its star players were heavily scrutinized for capitalizing on their championship year. They were criticized for not spending all their summer in the gym like Catlin, and Im like she's the one chasing a ring. Reese been their done that and should have reaped the economic benefits. Instead of celebrating the champs during their championship year the media focused on Catlin Clark's individual achievements under the guise of chasing the scoring record while making LSU and their star public enemy number 1. This is game both strategic an vicious because they can't stand it when the playing field is level and they are forced to compete. Now they want to deminish a college undefeated championship because Clark couldn't win it. They got coach Stanley unable to celebrate her team accomplishments alone out here having to promote or cape rather for Clark's GOAT greatlness or be subject to what Reese, Mulkey and LSU faced this year a lynch mob. The thing that they do to black excellence is disrepect it, disregard it and deminish it. Why because we don't do anything to make it hurt their pockets. Media operates on advertising dollars from corporations. We have to withdraw any dollars from any entities that support this propaganda and put it towards building our own media. Whie media is going to promote and celebrate their own. We need to celebrate our own black stars and stop depending on a people who have depraved indifference towards us to do the right thing because that will NEVER happen.

Yes the whole Caitlin Clark media phenomenon is crazy, but it’s no different then when Michael Jordan was ALL OVER the media and dominated headlines for years before he got his rings. Boston and Detroit were killing him in the playoffs and winning championships but Jordan still got ALL the hype, and a lot of the other players hated that, especially Isaiah Thomas. That obviously wasn’t racism, and this isn’t really either IMO. People were interested in Jordan because he was fun to watch, and the same is true for Clark.

And the biggest highlight you’ll ever see from the ‘89 playoffs was Jordan’s shot over Ehlo to win the series against Cleveland, and that was the opening round series! Most people probably have no clue that the Pistons crushed the Bulls that year and won the championship. Jordan got ALL the hype even before his rings. Isaiah Thomas hated him for that and that’s why they had beef. 80s Jordan and Caitlin Clark today are basically the same person.

SC hasn’t been acknowledged enuff for the way they ran thru the NCAA this year. I’m an LSU fan and they beat us twice but they should be acknowledged more for what they did, esp in the tourney. Those girls deserve more but maybe they should take the initiative and put themselves out there more. They should be proud of themselves and how they are an integral part of growing women’s bball. It’s just that they took “Americas sweetheart” chance at a ring. They see how ppl treated Angel after she did it last year so they should’ve known the media bias would be real. SMH. This is like a NBA all star team playing regular teams. They had 7 players that were 5 star players, Iowa had one. Many players on Iowa would not be playing on any other team. Iowa beat the best teams during the tournament, who did SC really play? Iowa was a bunch of scrubs that werent even supposed to be in the tournament the past two years, and they were. Being the best team is great but not great enough for people to want to invest there time in. First off Caitlin Clark is the bomb she is a amazing player and none of this hype is her fault it’s the fans and media fault . in sports where blacks dominate boxing , basketball, football, white America has always been searching for the next white athlete to dominate these black sports and when they do its over hyped where so much so that if a black person did the same thing it wouldn't be a big deal. Ok let's flip it golf , tennis , nascar black America do the same thing when we dominate in a dominant white sport it's no fault of the athlete this is just how it is we identify more with people that look like us and that's just real talk.

Saying they are biased towards the person who is obviously the best player in the NCAA is CRAZY! The media isn't biased, ya'll are just jealous of Clark....and I'm a black woman saying this by the way. When a player becomes the face of their sport, they are elevated above everyone, even the champions. This is no different from when the Warriors won a championships and LeBron was the top story when he lost. They elevated LeBron above the Warriors championship. Same for Tom Brady. When the Pats lost to the Giants, the top story wasn't the Giants winning, it was Tom Brady losing. If this was about racism, then we wouldn't see so many other examples of this happening. Another example with Serena Williams. When Serena lost the Grand Slam, she was the top story, not that white girl that she lost to. I can't even remember that white girl's name because they never talked about her winning. I can name like five more examples with people like Ronaldo, Messi, etc. I just think folks are having a hard time accepting that Clark is the face of women's basketball. Its not Reese, its not Taurasi, its not Juju, its Clark. She is getting treated like how all athletes get treated when they are the face of their sport.
