"A week after Reutersrevealed that "Tesla blamed drivers for failures of parts it long knew were defective," the news agency exclusively reported Wednesday that a pair of U.S. senators wrote to billionaire CEO Elon Musk to demand vehicle recalls.
Citing the "alarming" journalistic investigation into the electric vehicle (EV) company, Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.) expressed "extreme concern following recent reporting about Tesla's knowledge of safety flaws in its vehicles and concealment of the causes of these flaws from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration," or NHTSA."

All cars have flaws and shortcomings. The issue is Tesla has difficult access to Brick and Mortar service unless it's drivetrain issues. Anyone buying a Tesla is a mental case or mentally lazy. It's not like they are a good value. Why would anyone purchase a Russian Push Knife Logo Pedo Tesla?

This reminds me of the Sampoong Shopping Mall in Korea. The owner cut so many corners in the design of the building. In the end, the building collapsed and more than 500 people died in the rubble. Safety standards exist for the obvious reason of .... SAFETY. There is no way anyone selling a product in a modern world that goes through state approval does not know this, so the only conclusion can be that the standards were, simply, ignored.

Hey Elon, you REALLY want to fix something? YOUR company Tesla Solar cheated and continues to screw my retired parents. They got YOUR panels but their power bill kept going up. Having to pay for YOUR panels AND a power that keeps going up, they asked YOUR company what was going on. My parents found YOUR company was taking the majority of the power collected for themselves. YOUR company responded by saying, "You never told us not to." My parents can't even remove YOUR panels from their house. Even though MY FAMILY hasn't been able to use them for over 5 years. Remember, their power bill never went down PLUS the ungodly amount to YOUR company for panels that YOUR company won't allow my family to use or remove. YOU need to fix this. Until YOUR company stops hurting my family, I'm going to continue to call you out. The ball's in YOUR court, Mr. Used to be Richest Man. Prove yourself worthy!

Elon is obsessed with making every vehicle on the road stupidly more powerful than any reasonable driver will ever need just to stroke his own ego. At the same time, he's also obsessed with driving costs down by cutting weight and parts, sometimes safety-critical parts like the mica sheet preventing battery fires from immediately burning holes through the battery into the cabin when something goes wrong with it. Shouldn't surprise anybody that higher stress from packing more performance using fewer lighter parts to hold everything together yields more frequent parts failures.

I have one that does mid sixes and is too slow. But your right, rest of the car should be able to handle that. In porsches you can make launch control without any problems whatsoever.

When it comes to cars, I rather spend 35k on a Chevy or Ford or Honda or Hyundai than spend about 50-90k on a Tesla. They took on the electric market and came out with some really good electric cars. If not, hybrids. There's a Hyundai car that gets up to 52 miles per gallon. Idk about where you guys are at, but 2 gallons can take from where I am to Baltimore or DC and back, and Baltimore is 50-60 miles away for me.

Tesla blaming drivers for part defects is like blaming the GPS for taking you to the wrong planet. It's the 'Blame Game Championship,' and Tesla just went for the gold in the 'Deflection Decathlon.' I haven't seen finger-pointing like this since someone accused their coffee of being too hot. Forget 'Autopilot'; we're in the era of 'Pass-the-Buck Pilot,' where the only thing driving faster than the cars is the blame-shifting strategy. Buckle up, folks; it's a bumpy ride on the 'Tesla Two-Step: Duck and Dodge Edition.

Narrator : A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.

In Iceland (and nordic jurisprudence) belonging to a union is legally obligatory; even though the unions are independent. They are considered semi-public entities. If you don’t want to belong to a union, you don’t have to pay membership dues - (except a minuscule amount for a “strike fund” substituting lost income during strikes) but you still receive all the benefits. There is a special court that handles labour disputes, and it moves at hyper speed in times of strikes and delivers rulings, usually within the day, or the day after the complaint, the latest. If unionised worker (everybody) is fired during a strike, the employer can be sued, loosing almost every time, and must pay damages to the workers… it’s soooo different 🤣. …ooohhh yes and health insurance is of course universal, and independent of employment or income or private insurance… anything else is almost inconceivable…

The problem is that the US has no authority demanded safety inspection checks as other countries have. In Germany for example every new bought car gets checked for safety after 3 years and after that every two years ! If the car doesn't pass the check up, the owner get's the opportunity to fix the problem. If he doesent, the car loses it's registration! Since Tesla additional don't require to regulary bring in the car in for service as other car companies to maintain warrenty, these kind of defects tend to stay in the dark and unfortunately make the customer believe everything is ok... God only knows how many vehicles are on American roads which really shouldnt be for safety reasons ! Not just Teslas ! Many Teslas failed to pass the check up after 3 years in Germany mostly due to rust on the brake system and defect wishbones of the suspension.

We're on youtube; it's extremely easy to find hundreds, if not thousands of videos of US vehicles with doors missing, fenders missing, even a tire/wheel missing (!), bits falling off etc and the driver just driving on like nothing ever happened. Add to that the mountains and mountains of videos of people overloading their cars or trucks with piles of stuff, which then goes flying every which way as they drive etc. It's entitled individualism running rampant (I can do whatever I want! It's my right!), combined with lack of driver education, lack of regulations, and as you say, safety inspections. Oh, and undoubtedly in a great many cases, heavy drug/alcohol use.
