Exploring Thotupala Kanda: Sri Lanka's Third Highest Peak | Horton Plains National Park

Thotupala Kanda, also known as Totapolakanda or Thotupola Kanda, stands as the third highest peak in Sri Lanka, soaring to an elevation of 2,357 meters (7,733 feet) above sea level in the Nuwara Eliya district. Nestled within the Horton Plains National Park, this mountain offers a scenic trail approximately two kilometers long, starting near the Pattipola entrance of the park. The mountain's surface is predominantly covered with shrubs uniquely adapted to the cool, windy climate of Horton Plains, with common species such as Strobilanthes, Osbeckia, and Rhodomyrtus thriving in abundance.
