The NXE UI was based on Windows Media Center, interestingly enough. It probably has the best layout for the Xbox 360, better than the Metro dashboard anyway

@@JacobRTWO Sadly they removed it with the 2011 Metro update. It annoyed my friends for sure.

I wish there was a way to go back to the NXE dashboard on an Xbox 360 or just a theme for an Xbox One... Sigh. Good old times.

@@Triton_Wave using freestyle dash, it looks a lot like NXE dash but has a lot of homebrew oriented features which makes it a lot more useful

I remember as a kid, I was at GameStop in 2010 getting Call of Duty Black Ops. And all of the sudden this dude just walked up to me and gave me MW2 for free. Best. Night. Ever.

I just got a Xbox 360 from a family friend. Once I turned it on I seen this exact dashboard with MW2 in it and boy the goose bumps and nostalgia hit me instantly I can’t believe I started geeking out over a dashboard and a Xbox 360 that hasn’t been touched since 2009.

NXE and blades are what i’m most nostalgic for despite the fact that i spent most of the time having metro on my 360 since i didn’t get it until the end of its lifespan. my aunt is a huge gamer (her xbox gamerscore is over 300k because she would rent and play random shovelware games just to get the achievements) and i spent lots of time watching her play her OG 360 when i was little. it ended up getting the red ring tho and she had to upgrade. i don’t think there’s a lot of people who can say that their 45 year old auntie has a gamerscore as high as she does. she’s the reason that i have so much xbox related nostalgia despite primarily being a playstation/nintendo/pc player my whole life

Best 360 dashboard

So, interesting fact, on the 360 (I know this because I tried this with my friends) if you have an arcade game downloaded and you don't have an Xbox live account active on the console, you can only play the trials of the games. So it is likely those are the full games, you just can't play them because there is no account linked to them

I wish they used The NXE dashboard on The Xbox series X

I miss these themes and avatar use, games like joyride turbo were epic and it’s a shame they never carried this on the Xbox one or even series x in the same way.

Don't update man, also, depending on the dashboard version you could possibly JTAG.

Nxe in my opinion better it just feels better the took blades and made it better reason 1 why nxe is better then blades avatars reason 2 you could watch Netflix with your friends. and besides blades kind of lived on in nxe with the new guide and the nxe/Kinect dashboards live on in metro when you" Kinect" hm hm to the internet it's in the same layout as nxe/Kinect

If you turn off the update settings (including the auto update etc) you might be able to go online with it? I don't know for sure though, so I'd check first with someone more knowledgeable who has more experience with XB. Just a thought.

Sadly no, it's impossible to use an old kernel online, as Xbox Live will instantly flag the version outdated and block your access to the internet. The only way to use an old dashboard online is to use a hacked Xbox 360 on the latest kernel, using the Proto stealth server and the dashboard file from the NXE dashboard.
