    Glad you enjoyed the WABRD I don’t remember any paid camp sites along the way but could have been the ap you were using. Almost all of the actual WABRD is federal or state land and free to camp as long as you have the appropriate pass to be on the land.

That's where Smokies come in handy. But this Tortellini sounds better. .... Oooo! Caught a good Fish jump while filming Mt Adams! ... We did the north half of the WA BDR this last year in our Rav4 Prime and it's a lot more treacherous than the southern half looks to be. Driving on lots of high mountain ridges and lots of rocks. Add that to your list for the future. The trees disappear and you get lots of great views.

  • @IndependenceOverland

    Yeah that's the plan. The easy going roads were a nice change of pace for covering ground, but of course using 4 low is always more exciting! Thanks for the tip!

    @earthwinders You said more treacherous, but you made it ok solo with a RAV4? Not discounting the abilities of the RAV4 just seriously wondering since I want to take my 22 Tacoma Off Road. through it and I am semi experienced with off roading. No crazy rock crawling. 3/2 lift with rock rails and good AT tires.

  • @TheEarthwinders

    @@xXxDropTopxXx Yeah, we had just enough clearance in our '22 Rav4Prime by taking it slow and easy. Outfitted with Falcon Wildpeak A/T tires and it did great. There's a lot of sections going up high mountain ridges with a lot of loose rock, and a few spots with some mild rock crawling. Your Tacoma will handle it like a champ.

    Hi Tyler! Long-time subscriber and admirer as I’m building out my 2012 FJ TTSE. I’m at the decision point of lifting my rig and between two opinions. My original plan was to install Bilstein 6112s in the front and Bilstein 5160s in the rear. But after consulting a local lift expert/shop, they’re recommending OME Nitro Chargers. I remember you saying you previously had OMEs but what are your thoughts?

  • @IndependenceOverland

    @IndependenceOverland

    5 ай бұрын

    The Nitros are good, long lasting shocks but I have heard the Bilsteins ride nicer. OME is as tough as nails though, my friend Jesse had them for a good long time. In regard to the Fj squeak, its because of the suspension. I have so many uniballs on mine. My kings have uniballs, my control arms, my lower links have heim joints. This can be avoided to some extent with oils, but then more dirt sticks to it. For the new build, I plan to stick with shocks that have rubber bushings. Less flex, but man the squawking drives me crazy. Everytime I correct it, it comes back a few months later. I just dont have time to wipe my suspension down every time I drive it like whats required, so its noisy.

    @Independence Overland Overall the full terrain what is your opinion on a Tacoma 2/3 lift towing a 10x6 custom utility trailer on Timbren suspension, is it doable or should I leave the trailer? From the video it looked very doable. Were there options to camp in more open areas or were they mostly shaded? Planning to use solar and starlink while we travel and work remote. From WA but have not hit this trail yet. Will obviously do my own additional research but wanted to support the channel and figured I would ask. Thank you for the amazing video!

    Man thank you so much for that! Its all easy, I see now reason why you couldn't have a trailer, at least in the section we were on.It was very easy going, plenty of places to pull off if you run into other people coming. As far as solar, it will be challenging for you. It is a very, very forested area. All the camping went by got very little direct sun.
