Exploring the Superior National Forest

Ойын-сауық

Great trip up the North shore of Lake Superior. Trekked the Superior Hiking Trail, Did some canoeing, fishing, and cooked up some great meals. Just missed some nasty storms and the temp was perfect the whole time. The hazy sunset was caused by the wildfires burning in Canada. ibd1b4ukdawgupnorth

Another fantastic video, filled with brilliant flowers, wild ferns which I love, and so much friendship. I'm amazed at how well behaved your dog is. It just shows he loves you very much.

Thank you! It was a beautiful area and perfect time of year with all the wild flowers. Old sparky has been a great dog, unfortunately he won't be taking to many more trips like this. He's getting pretty old and has since lost his hearing. Very smart dog though. Thanks for watching!

Beautiful area. Enjoyed your video very much. We hiked around Crosby Manitou and over to Aspen Knob campsite on the SHT. We'd love to go back and do the section you day hiked. What campground were you staying at?

The campsite was a little drive from the SHT. Cant remember but it was dispersed camping not an actual campground. Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching!

kind of a silly question to ask but how heavy is your dog? He looks like a good dog, my wife has a 25# limit on dogs though. Looks like he keeps up just fine. I forgot to ask, what kind of dog is he.

Last I checked he was right at 25. Very good hiking dog tons of energy even at his old age of 13

I am traveling on a budget, i stay at rest areas that allow it , where can i stay along the north shore for free, is it easy to find a site or are they crowded or taken?

Not sure about any place right on the shore. You might have to go inland a bit. This site is on Lake 18 about a half hour from Lake Superior. Might want to check Superior National Forest website.

@@UpNorthAdventures I do not mind going inland to find a place, i would like to see the area. Are the spots hard to find or filled up in july or August? What about mosquitos, are they pretty bad? All I have is a van, I sleep in the van.

I thought it was easy to find. Weekends could be busy but I'm not sure. Two site, nice outhouse, hiking trail around the lake. Little gnats are bad this time of year. I don't remember mosquitoes being an issue.
