Not that I actually believe Alagadda would be this lenient, but I imagine, like...in a parallel universe, there's a version of them who do "milk" the humans for blood but no worse than someone donating blood for other humans would and they just have a massive amount of willing volunteers.

I'm reminded of a quote: "The existence of 'manmade horrors beyond my comprehension' implies the existence of 'supernatural delights within my understanding', so yes, I will be walking through that portal."

I love how some dishes, like the golden apple crumble, aren't even anomalous, they're just so good there's no need to upgrade them.

I loved the "not a vampire" reveal. The whole time I was wondering how a vampire could run luxury human restaurants when he cant eat food, and the realization that he was just a regular guy downing gallons of blood was great

Well, not necessarily a “regular guy”. Just not a vampire.

I love how Ambrose was able to horrify a vampire from not knowing what he was, and it almost humanizes the vampire. My two cents though? Ambrose is probably a thaumaturgist or some kind of reality bender, rather than an actual bloodsucker.

I love these quirky tongue-in-cheek SCPs. Instead of grand and spectacular, reality threatening scenario's, you get the everyday life stuff. Like a vampire who just pines for a nice view. Anomalous restaurants and hotels, anomalous tailors, cleaners, dentists etc. I mean even an eldritch abomination needs a yearly check-up and a reminder to floss.

If VTM:B can connect with SCP, I wonder if Hellsing exists too. Can't wait for Alucard in the next Vampire game as a reference or even a boss.

Basically everything up until the vampire hotel had me going "I would absolutely spend that much money to experience one of these dinners." It's almost reasonable compared to mundane overpriced restaurant experiences! Because I would *absolutely* squeal in delight when a tiny dragon is brought to my table!

To be fair, those human guests should have been suspicious about the *sunless hotel in Transylvania*

I believe the hotel is only sunless in the underground portion where the vampires stay. They mentioned a couple times that there is sunlight in the upper portion.

I didn't fork out half my savings to be treated like an entrée, and why should the vamps get magical blood protection while I'm getting chased through a labyrinth by a demon wolf with wall hacks? Zero Stars, the food ain't worth it, weren't even selling me the magic stuff. For shame

Chazz is possibly the worst of nightmare creatures, a foodie. Him having sarkic or equivalent abilities related to eating would seem appropriate.

15:00 this immediately caught my attention Sebastian LaCroix is a prominent character in the game Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines. there isn't much in his review on the resturaunt that i immediatley notice connects to the game, but i did notice the line "We are notorious for our squabbling" which greatly describes the relationships between Vampires and Other Vampires in the game's story. they've all got some kind of major beef with each other, every single one.

Figured they're virtually non-hostile, but I must say, SCP-4814 is quite disheartening. Same with poor Pearl, but then, such are good pork.

Perfect timing for my midnight snack of diet ghost and demon pringles.

As a non-patron donor, this looks delicious

And that one tale where Chaz's just becoming insane, has a liking to cannibalism and he even ate Marius. It disturbs me honestly I think it was mentioned in the tale that the event happened before Ambrose Transylvania was opened

There's actually a lot of real world blood recipes that the writer for ambrose could have included like pigs blood tofu stew or Italian blood pasta. Hell even braised cows liver or placenta is a good item for the list.

Except their whole thing is exclusive meals that nobody else serves, no point making a hotel for vampires if they're just serving something that the vampires could find elsewhere with less trouble.

@@whiskeyhound It's shown in the story that LaCroix relishes experiences from when he was alive, so why not include some normal foods that are palatable to haemavores on the menu, for those who want them as a reminder of the 'better days'? Who said they can only eat special vampire food? Yes, if they just fancied Italian blood pasta one night they wouldn't bother going all the way to the Transylvania venue for it, but they don't go there for a quick snack, they go for the whole experience. The food is an add-on, so to speak. Like, you don't go to a club for the bar snacks, but you might have some while you're there. So it makes sense they'd offer as wide a variety as possible since the actual nutritious options for a vampire are, as stated, quite limited.

@@jackrylebonclaw7270 Why include normal blood recipes instead of doing the substitute blood for eggs trick to make a wider range of food that they would've eaten prior to becoming vampires, since I doubt that many of them ate food with blood in it at all, and I don't believe that anyone would've eaten it regularly. Plus the whole appeal of this hotel as far as food goes is providing access to exotic bloods that the vampires couldn't ever get access to normally, such as faerie or elagardian blood.

I'm just supporting the OP's idea of additional recipes that use blood, not replacing anything. But to address some of your points; it's clearly stated that eating regular food isn't a pleasant experience for a vampire. Thus they couldn't eat the exact human foods for nostalgia's sake, it would have to be 'close enough'. Which would be fine as you don't have to be in an exact replica of a situation to experience nostalgia. That's something you either comprehend or don't, I guess. And you just undermined your own argument in one sentence when you said "as far as the food goes"; because, AS I STATED, vampires aren't likely to go there just for the food alone. Do you pick a holiday destination primarily because of the food? I certainly don't. It may be a factor, but so are all the other relevant elements like location, cost, comfort, atmosphere...

As a chef. That 5 senses pasta would be something i would do anything to get my hands on.

I was like “huh, these guys aren’t so bad!” Even with the vampire stuff. And then they ate the piggy 😭

Man, I loved the Ambrose Transylvania bit due to one particular reason - it was so blatantly referencing Vampire: The Masquerade that I couldn't help but grin every time they brought something from that world I couldn't help but grin. Any chance some World of Darkness property would appear on the Exploring series?

Oh, hey! I ran a Pathfinder game where the players were Ingredient Hunters for Amrose. It was quite fun!

The author must have had a blast writing this, usually I multi-task while listening but had to stop just to take it all in.

SCP meets Toriko!

Would be interested to see a crossover with "are we cool yet". Anomalous Gastronomy. Although would probably presented as those crazy food deconstruction machines.

I love that this SCP is fun and cheeky, but also a commentary on fine dining and the exploitative practices of restauranteurs and the hospitality industry. Also Gamers Agains Weed once again prove themselves my favorite GOI lol

Imagine staying at a restort and getting chased by vampires all night. You go home feeling drained and tired. Not remembering anything while the vampires are all "That was the best vacation ever!"
