On this episode, we travel to North Manitou Island for a 3 day backpacking trip. North Manitou Island is an island in Lake Michigan that can only be reached by taking a ferry. Due to the weather, our arrival on the island was delayed by a day. We took that opportunity to explore the sand dunes of Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. We took the main dune trail all the way to Lake Michigan.
Once we were actually on the island, we started at the Village Area and headed south. We passed the school, the South Cherry Orchard, and then headed down to Old Stormer Dock. We then passed the cemetary before making it to the old home of Bourniques. After that we headed west towards Stormer Place. We made a quick stop at Fat Annie's, but didn't see anything of note, so we continued on and camped on the west shore of the island.
The next day we headed north and checked out Swenson's Barn and explored the Crescent Dock area. Since we had one less day than planned, we decided to take the Centerline Trail east across the island before camping on the eastern shore.
Finally, we hiked out and took the ferry home.

As someone not from the US it’s so interesting to see places that aren’t covered in your usual travel documentary. Also, these videos are so beautiful, they really give me a sense of peace. Thanks!
I leave AA on repeat when I leave the house so my dogs can watch and so these guys get the extra views they deserve. Another great one guys!

They are, which is exactly why I watch them. Also for the introspection that they sometimes have during their videos.

I found this channel out of the blue like 3 weeks ago, since then i haven't stopped watching all of your vids. Truly an unique channel, as someone who loves hiking and been going on hikes with the same group of friends for years, this channel just hits home.
Im from the detroit area of Michigan and spent many summers up at my parents cottage up north and love and appreciate the wilderness, this dudes knowledge of all the different trees and plants and bushes is so interesting, I'd love to go hiking with him!
It's impossible to watch an AA video and not want to immediately run out into nature...As I'm catching up on AA videos I've sadly been behind on, I once again feel inspired and compelled to have an adventure of my own. Thank you, as always. for continuing to share your journeys with us all!
Michigan is amazing and under rated. Thank you for the botany info and bushcraft. Loved it.
Probably the best sunrise I've ever seen captured!!
Actually, I live on the border of WI and the UP, so Pictured Rocks, Door County and Manitou this my home stomping ground. I have spent a lifetime hiking, camping and backpacking there and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area…now I’m 68 and your videos helped get me through another winter! Thank you! I really enjoy the whole production.
I'm always been a beaches and Islands person. This is such a beautiful video, all the gorgeous scenery on Lake Michigan. Make me want to start exploring the Mid West in the near future. Thank you guys for taking us ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

Found you guys via your original NM video... which also helped solidify a yearly NM trip as a tradition for me. I was just there last week! Thank you. Super excited to see what the return has in store.
I love the fact that you talk about wildflowers because I am an enthusiast as well and I can actually identify some of those you saw. Great video as always!
I'm going to North Manitou Island one of these days and I can't wait. I love when you guys make vlogs about this place.
i love the plant knowledge and facts alot
I live in Wyoming Michigan and have never been to North Manitou Island, adding that to my Backpacking list! Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into the video's and taking us along! I love your adventures. Take care!
This is definitely one of my favorite AA episodes from start to finish. What a bonus surprise of Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes which is one of my favorite places on earth! I visited SBSD for the first time when I was 13 and it changed my life forever. North Manitou Island also looks like a treasure. All the beautiful camera shots and music fit so well together. Oh - the music and bird sloosh at 11:54!! @andrew Love the mushroom daddy t-shirt LOL. You guys have out done yourselves. :)
sooo beautiful

I really enjoy the education on what I can and cannot eat while out in the wilderness. You guys are awesome!
Again i loved every bit. Thank you very much. ❤️❤️❤️ - This camera & lens & grading is on point! Brilliant.
Great! Reminds me of trips I made by kayak to the island . So idyllic, pleased to be reminded!
@1:17:25 That's so cool that the snake stood still for a moment, whenever I find a snake on a trail either the snake run or I run!
This island has little of everything that I could imagine on my dream camping! Thank you Andrew, Brian and Robby for taking us on such an adventure. Those sunset and sunrise are the best ones I have seen. I could just watch them all day long! You guys are indeed lucky to get exposed to this kind of nature beauty as kids. As we can all can see, it has served you all well!! Wishing you the bestest!!!! Andrew I didn’t get to tell this yet, my son have been watching you since he was 6. Your vidoes have been our favorite activity to watch on weekends since the first lock down started. Your channel has reached out to so many people, many more than you can imagine! You talked about memories and how visiting this island brought so many memories. We are making memories off your experiences and memories too! :) I can just write on and on but my words wouldn’t not be enough:) So in the end will just say, thank you for doing what all you guys do! Such a bummer Thomas couldn’t join you guys. Clearly you missed him on trip.
Please tell me you’re selling MUSHROOM DADDY 🍄 shirts!!????
You guys are just the greatest I am amazed at how that man can remember all those plants!! Wish my brain could do that!!
That was a really nice shot of the stars. Love all the greenery. I can't believe the shoutout reels keep getting better every time. The Giorgio Tsoukalos impression blew my mind.
Bryan you look like a boss! Healthy and strong! Good job what ever you did! Guys, a new great episode, i just love the mellow vibe, no stress, just so easy to follow along, like I am walking the path with you. A beautiful island, lots of plants and wildlife. Thank you for sharing!
Love love love your vids guys. One of my favorite things that you guys do is the explanation of your inner psychological feelings on the situation at hand, and the different takes of it between the three and sometimes four of you guys . Can't say enough about you fellas..
Well, this was delightful. Thank you!
I've always bring copper cow Vietnamese coffee for all my camping adventure. Easy cup of coffee in the morning.
What a magic space!! Thanks for taking us!!!
Another amazing video! Thanks for sharing. Missed Thomas...and Sierra.
3rd time watching this. Especially fun with the live chat and the creators chiming in! Another great video....makes me want to go camping. Maybe the U.P. this week!
Wow the lake was beautiful.
1:00...Robbie "oh come on son", regarding the coffee😂❤️
You guys are awesome. So appreciative of the simple things. It's very gratifying to see in people so young.
Guys, this was magnificent! Of all the videos which you have created, I think this was my very favorite. Andrew's mushroom talks, the plant talks were so very interesting and the beach sunsets and sunrises were the best I've ever seen. Just beautiful!!
Thank you guys for taking us along. Love your adventures. Sadness in a bowl, cracked me up.
The return to Manitou! You guys captured the landscapes and sky so well! Your marriage of cinematography and music has become so good! The shout-outs were once again hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣 Well done guys 👏👏👏 Robio Huang is Giorgio Tsoukalos, the hair! 🤣🤣🤣👍
This is the most relaxing / wholesome / insightful channel I think I've ever come across. Keep doing what you guys are doing! Love listening to your adventures at work and makes me look forward to planning my own!
Love the attention to all the subtle flora. Thank you!!
You guys bring me so much joy, you have no idea! Thank you, yet again, so, so much.
I think this may be my favourite episode of yours. The views, the music, the nature… All perfect. You could easily see how much you guys were enjoying it and it really shone through in the video. I’m glad you got the chance to go back to the place that filled you three with memories all those years ago.
a second watch to really absorb all that hard work!
Yay another Michigan video
Robby - How's that Osprey Atmos working out for you? I hear the AG system is super comfortable! Bryan - You have lost weight and you look fantastic, I am digging the new hair also! Andrew - your plant knowledge blows me away, love hearing about all the plants and their uses, love the mushroom daddy t-shirt! Thanks for another great video guys! It is both inspiring and therapeutic to watch these!
"We love you Dark Continent! Good night!" Had me rolling!
that sunrise scene with the music is really magical, good work and keep the content coming guys!
Swimming in a wild, clear, clean, beautiful body of water is never a bad idea, and never something you can regret.
Shout-out to Midland! Loved this one, made me nostalgic for when my brother and I went to North Manitou. Excited for the next 😁
Mushroom Daddy... love the T-shirt. I was at North Manitou in 2018. Love seeing the island.

I highly recommend getting sandwiches in Leland at the Cheese Shanty, they're the best! They even have beer 🍺 Thanks for sharing your adventure where I am from! It was very nostalgic for me
A heartful thanks for sharing another great adventure with us! Epic shots awesome and soul quenching music! Love you AA❤️
You guys are awesome! Love all your adventures!
Another excellent video. Happy that Thomas is always with you all in spirit as you always mention him in some fun way. I am sure Thomas also appreciated it :)
Loved this video from Michigan I live here and have not been there yet. The sunsets and sunrise were the highlights for me . This video had everything in it, wildlfe, beaches, dunes, laughter, and alot of botanical plants. Well done!
Finally I found this channel, love it! 💕
Very nostalgic for me also, as Michigan was the land of my youth. Many of these scenes are old haunts that I hope to visit again soon nearly 40 years later. Thanks for showing us what treasure still exists there. Namaste. 🙏🏼
Literally jamming in my chair to the music, patiently awaiting the release 😁 Thank you!!
this video saw me having a flu day stuck inside and with a massive headache. while i have this turned down low and barely actually using my eyes to watch, i feel like if i were to rewatch it, it would be nothing like id imagined visually, like an old time radio station playing its 1am skits, or playbills on air. not sure if youve ever listend to one where you had to imagine the scene as they talked, this was that episode for me
Andrew looks like a samurai with that beard and long hair lol. Love it.
It’s been some time since I’ve been to North Manitou. Always a great time! I have a bottle of Jack Daniels stashed on the north east side of the island I plan to find again🥃
Beautiful location to explore, relax and enjoy the worlds beauty. Great video. Besides all the people walking by those old houses look like the perfect place to live. The sunset is amazing at the campsite. Great Video!
I grew up in Michigan and have camped many places in the Upper and Lower peninsulas. Like you, I now live in Ohio. I’ve never done the islands. Definitely on my list now! Thanks for a great video!
You guys always come through with great, peaceful content and now I am inspired to go back to Michigan to do this hike. I grew up in Kalamazoo but have hardly hiked in Michigan..
This is a very sentimental place for me too, nothing makes me as nostalgic as the dunes! This was the first place I camped back when I was 12 (in 2003) where I fell in love with nature.. and I was actually just there camping last week. Gotta make pilgrimage back to where it all started every once in a while haha :)

The big dune only took about 10-15 minutes to climb with the wet sand by the way, much easier than the years when it was hotter and drier.

That's a great hike! And for me a great way to spend my evening. Thnx guys.
I am so happy to have discovered your channel! I am a michigan native. I am obsessed with foraging & the plant ids in your video were pleasantly unexpected & entirely wonderful. I throughly enjoyed your content. Thank you for taking the time to share with us! Michigan is so under rated. We are looking to relocate more rural from the ann arbor area. I do appreciate the view into other areas. Thank you again!!
I enjoy your videos and especially appreciate Andrew’s plant knowledge. Thanks guys!
Wow! What a beautiful place and I can see why it is so special to you. I loved the comment about the woods looking like Morgan-Monroe or Hoosier National Forest. The Hoosier National is nearly in my backyard. Great cinematography.
