Dat krijg je als je zoveel in de randstad rondwandelt.😜 Op TV kunnen ze er ook wat van. Lubach maakt regelmatig grappen over dat Meppel ver weg is en toch bij Nederland blijkt te horen. Het is blijkbaar in de mode om steden van buiten de Randstad niet hip genoeg te vinden.😅 Ik ben toch blij vooral in dat niet hippe deel rond te wandelen. Dat is een stuk rustiger en gezelliger.😂

Dit soort dagen zijn echt ondergewaardeerd. Er is historie, gezelligheid, markt en muziek. Ik was laatst in Spakenburg. Er was een expositie in een kerkje, je kon met de boot en bootjes kijken. Er waren allerlei kraampjes met ambachten en allerlei bijzondere waar en er trad een zeemanskoor op. Er liepen zelfs een paar mensen in klederdracht. Prachtig om te zien. Elk plaatsje heeft wel wat.

Hey so a quick tip, I just got notified that there is a parade in "Sint Jansklooster" today and its pretty epic just google it sint jansklooster parade. In case you want a video idea.

De Hanzesteden zijn heel mooi. Zijn waren onderdeel een handelsovereenkomst in vroegere tijden. En aangezien de handel floreerde, werden ook de steden steeds welvarender. De steden: Deventer, Zutphen, Zwolle en Kampen. Echt de moeite waard.

Meppel used to be surrounded by an enormous swamp , peat bogs , the bogs are gone now, the peat was dug out and used as fuel, the land used to grow potatoes etc...But a few 100 years ago there was enough water to have a lot of bugs..

I am visiting Meppel now with my wife and it is great. We don't understand how even people from NL are unaware of this city. Glad you did your video so more people can find this terrific place. Don't forget Giethoorn is only a bicycle ride away.

Awesome to hear you went over there and enjoyed it! Yeah, I was very surprised to see how little Dutch people knew about this city. And yeah, I've been to Giethoorn once, it's really nice!

you also could visit Amersfoort its like a big Meppel in 2015, 2016 and 2017 it was named the best city to live in

Je bent zo goed in Nederlands geworden in zo'n korte tijd. Respect! Mooi om te zien, het is een hele lastige taal! Goede content

Dat komt volgens mij deels doordat hij meegaat in de cultuur en door zijn houding. Veel mensen genieten van Nederland maar doen niet echt mee in het Nederlands doen en denken. Spontaan zijn en goed luisteren, een beetje bij de hand mag ook 😊

@@LindaCasey Dat helpt, maar de Nederlandse partner moet dan ook zoveel mogelijk Nederlands spreken wat lastig kan zijn als ze perfect Engels beheerst. Bijvoorbeeld de Amerikaanse man van mijn nicht blijft steken op een laag niveau, hoeft ook geen Nederlands voor zijn werk. Ik hou vast aan mijn punt dat mentaliteit heel belangrijk is. Cultuur wordt ook weerspiegeld in de taal.

Great video Sam. Meppel looks very gezellig. The Dutch vibe aka having a good time with everyone. Talking with random people instead of only talking with friends is the key to happiness. It gives you trust in other people. Go Dutch or go home 😜😝. ❤❤❤

Lots of hidden gems in Drenthe. Some really nice nature too. You should explore it some more. Most people only think of Amsterdam, but that is not a good representation. Every province has its unique culture.

Hey Sam, I'm glad you enjoyed the Meppeldag so much, i was one of the guys who unlocked the door and let you onto the church tower. There are many local curiosities around here, from historical sites like hunnebedden and old WW2 bunkers, to interesting towns like Giethoorn and Staphorst, Each of them with their own folklore and festivals. I know that I, And many others, would love to share their stories with you! (Also, turns out my dad was already a fan of you, so shoutout to him!)

Love Drenthe! Gelderland is still my favorite province (guess I'm biased) but Drenthe has some great cities including Meppel. Great content as usual 👍

How could you forget to mention that according to DC, Metropolis the city home to Superman, started with a fort called after Meppel in New Netherland? Fort Meppel or a fort called New Meppel...

You are a really good person and the people in the Netherlands are also very friendly it seems like. I don't know if you could also make that happen here in Germany, but I think your happiness could probably also get some of us cold Germans to smile a bit :D

Non of these kids spoke the local dialect, very sad even, the all spoke western dialects, or Moroccan street language, kind of sad, the low-Saxon languages dying :(
