I’m 🇺🇸 & I’ve always wanted to visit Ireland. This city looks beautiful.
Irish weather! Irish friends of mine joke about it: "The difference between winter and summer is that in the summer, the rain is softer...". I was walking on the beach at Greystones one day with another Irish friend and it was a sunny summer's day. Except that we were being rained on at the same time! You can get all four seasons in one day. I will go back and soon!
I live in Galway and love watching tourist vlogs seeing people enjoy the city 😊

Question! Traveling to Ireland next year and planning on staying in Galway. We will arrive around 5pm, stay the night, have the next entire day and then be leaving the following morning. Do you feel the Aran Islands are worth spending a half day or full day while we are in Galway, or should we save them for the next trip. This is our first trip to Ireland and Galway and I really want to see as much as I can there, but not sure if I should sacrifice time in Galway for the Islands. Any input would be appreciated! Thank you!
@Tinyboots_travels

@@paulschrickel9797 just my personal opinion is you would need a full day on the aran islands depending on which island you go to! There is no transport on the islands just walking on cycling and there are beautiful beaches, cliffs and walking trails to do , it would be very rushed in a half day I would say!

When I were a lad ..... I was told when you're on Salthill Prom ,if you look across the Bay and you can see the Clare mountains VERY clear .... it's a sign it's going to make heavy rain ..... BUT if you CAN'T see the mountains ... that's because it's ....errrrr? ....raining ... heavily
When I was in Galway I ducked into a pub to get out of the rain. I ordered a whiskey, the barkeep said, "We've got Bushmill and Jamison for the tourists, Powers and Paddy's for us." I had Powers and I've been drinking it ever since.

1) Haven't heard anyone actually say top of morning ever in the two years since moving to Ireland ^_^ 2) You get used to the light drizzle, for Irish winter that looked like some good weather 3) We've had the fish and chips at McDonagh's, it's good. Next time we're in Galway we're definitely gonna sit down and try a dinner there
Galway is one of the best places on the planet , actually Ireland is just awesome. Always feel at home when visiting family
Galway is a city, not a town, just clarifying 😊 If you guys are driving up to Clifden, stop in Oughterard village. There’s a boat tour on Louch Corrib. It’s said that there’s 365 small islands in this lake. The boat goes from Oughterard to Ashford Castle (luxury hotel now) in Cong, Co. Mayo. Cong has abbey ruins that you can explore. John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara’s movie, The Quiet Man, was filmed in Cong and in surrounding areas (the Quiet Man bridge is just outside Oughterard).
I'm two years late. But yes the fish and chips are definitely as good as they say. Actually they downplay how good they are. Lol I lived in Galway for a year. I loved this vlog. You guys pick the rainy season to visit but that sure doesn't take away the beauty of the city. It has such a unique atmosphere there. Ireland is an unbelievable country to visit. I'm glad you got to experience Galway!
You certainly did a LOT of hunkering down in this vlog ;)

The fish and chips from McDonough's is amazing too! I've never tried oysters but those looked really good. When my daughter and I were there at the beginning on May that place was packed.

Uhhhgggggh I LOVE IRELAND. I was there late December 2019-mid jan 2020. It makes my heart swell I miss it so much
Very nice video. We are going hopefully in 2020. I can't wait. I have added that restaurant to my list.
In Galway and near the village of Claddagh which was one of the few places to survive the famine of 1847 because the locals could fish the sea which many people along the west could not do....they depended on the potato for their subsistance. The irish do not use seafood as much as the Spanish or Portuguese who use seafood a lot more. It is something we need to do more.
@jacktravers5049

even if everyone fished it wouldn't have solved anything. A people need a carbbohydrate base in their diet to do things like fishing which is a lot of work, people consumed less fish during and after than famine than before at which time it was considered a luxury. That's an awful bigoted view you're parroting. Yeah we could definitely make more use of our coastal resources, that requires education, and sure everyone else enjoys our fish anyhow ;)
Sorry to report that you really missed out on a treat ! McDonough's fish and chips is famous for good reason. Absolutely unparalleled. Those scallops and oysters looked pretty special too, but you really need to try the fish and chips. I've watched and enjoyed almost all of your videos and this is the first restaurant you've visited that I've actually visited before, and so glad you enjoyed it as much as I did ! Next time, stay away from dicey spice bags and try the tried and true !
Irish whisky is a stand alone alcohol even water or ice are really a waste of great whisky, scotch is enhanced with a bit of spring water but Irish whisky is a favour best savioured on it's own! It's a light rain throw a barbeque, typical Irish weather . Love to you both from Tennessee

Oysters were a staple food in Victorian times and cheap, a penny a dozen and often a free bar snack in the London "Gin Palaces". They were probably the only nutritious cheap food then. Hence that they are expensive now, native Oysters were almost wiped out by over dredging when steam dredgers came in.
