So, you're thinking about what to do in Mostar. You've found the right vlog! Mostar is definitely the most visited city in Bosnia. It's perfectly positioned between Sarajevo, Dubrovnik, & Split, offering the perfect day trip from any of those cities. Come along as we explore the best things to do in Mostar!
The Old Bazaar has been the centerpiece of Mostar since the 16th century & has no shortage of restaurants, craft stores, & souvenir shops to choose from. We opted to start with some traditional Bosnian coffee here. The market stretches across both sides of the Old Bridge, which is how we got from one side of the Old Town to the other.
3. Walk across the Old Bridge (Stari Most)
The Old Bridge connects one side of Old Town to the other, dividing the Muslim & Croat sides of Mostar. The Old Bridge translates to Stari Most, and is one of Bosnia’s most recognizable landmarks. The bridge crosses the Neretva River & had to be rebuilt in 2004 after the original bridge was destroyed during the Bosnian War. Prior to its destruction, the bridge stood here for over 400 years. Now this bridge is protected and is one of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the country.
We spoke a lot about the Bosnian War as well as visited a few museums when we were in Sarajevo, but Mostar sustained a significant amount of damage & destruction as well. One the west side of the Old Bridge there’s a war photo exhibition containing images taken during the Bosnian War. These offer a glimpse into a very dark side of Mostar’s history and gives perspective on just how far the city has come since the war ended in 1995.
One thing that I didn’t realize prior to arriving in Bosnia was the amount of mosques in the country. The Koski-Mehmed Pasha Mosque is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Mostar and is visible across the city. The mosque is beautiful and colourful in its interior and you can enter through the courtyard and climb the stairs to the top of the minaret for the best views of the city...if you aren't scared of heights.
Although the Old Bridge is really beautiful from up top, our favorite viewing spot is down below by the Neretva River. This spot offers the perfect place to get in the water to cool off as it’s EXTREMELY hot in Mostar in July, and also gives you PRIME viewing for the bridge jumpers.
Nearby is the Crooked Bridge. This smaller version was built 8 years prior to the Old Bridge and is believed to have been a trial bridge of sorts, before building the bigger, more famous version over the Neretva River. Surprisingly this small little bridge survived the war relatively unscathed, but was destroyed in 2001 due to intense flooding. Thankfully it was rebuilt after.
For dinner we headed to a place right next to the Old Bridge called Sadrvan. The reviews online say that the portions are generous and the prices are affordable so that’s about all we needed in order to be convinced to try it.
Another reason we chose Sadrvan was because it’s right next to the path that leads down to the river. We’ve been down here multiple times during the day but really wanted to see it at night. It's definitely worth staying in Mostar for the night in order to take in this beautiful view.
Thank you so much for watching! We've absolutely loved our time in Bosnia & we hope this inspires you to make the journey for yourself! See you in a few days when we head to DUBROVNIK!

I'm hooked up to a heart monitor and even just watching Trey climb those stairs, sent my heart into haywire mode! I couldn't do it... Seriously, another wonderfully amazing video! Ya'll the drone footage was beautiful and again with the tasty foods, Lord I was drooling! Your meat platter... was there anything on it that you've never tried before? Exotic mests? That was a lot of food! Thanks for sharing your visit with us. 🙂

Thank you so much for the kind words!!! The minaret at the mosque was probably the most dangerous thing I think I've ever done honestly🤣 The staircase was SO tight and there was no hand rail or anything at the top. Just the first few steps. If you trip or anything at all then the drop to the right was at least 10 feet. Needless to say I was not doing well😅 as far as meats, nothing really that exotic or anything! I would say the Cevapi is probably the thing that was most unique about the platter, but they're sort of similar to the small breakfast sausages you'd get back home. However these are packed with so much flavor, which definitely sets them apart!! We're so happy you're enjoying this wild journey we're on!!!!❤️

Man, watching you coming down that minaret, I got dizzy. Nice drone footage, as usual, wonderful scenery. I enjoyed this trip a lot. Cevapcici is one of my favorite meals, we can buy it here in Austria. I love it!

That minaret was hands down the most dangerous thing I think I've done this year! Just crazy steep and absolutely no safety measures were in place. I still can't believe I paid 7 euros to do it😂 Thank you so much for the kinds words, & I'm glad to hear there's Cevapcici in Austria too!! We'll be in Salzburg right after Oktoberfest in Munich so we'll definitely be looking for it when we're there!!!

I ate so many times in Hindin Han, so glad you guys explored many of the areas I visited when I lived there. I always wondered how the place would look through the eyes of a tourist and I got to see that through your channel now. Thanks for these really nice and insightful videos!

Did you guys try National restaurant Tima-Irma when you were in Mostar? It is next door to Sadrvan. It was our favorite restaurant in the entire country and we talk about it all the time. Mostar is an amazing city great job!

We didn't, but that's what's kinda crazy about Mostar & I suppose Bosnia as a whole. You really can't go wrong with most places to eat. We felt like we ate our weight in Cevapi & chicken skewers that week!!🤣 thank you so much for the kind words guys!!

NICE!! You're absolutely right. The heat can border on unbearable at points, but the river is really refreshing & there are gelato stands EVERYWHERE. We hope you enjoyed your time in Mostar & thanks so much for watching our video Alan!!

Oh you know I'm not NEAR brave enough to do something like that🤣 Although if the river current wasn't so strong then I'd have probably taken a jump off the platforms because they weren't too bad at all! Hannah's ankle has pretty much completely healed now which is really great. We felt like we kind of dodged a bullet with it not being worse. She's even managing the cobblestones like a pro now so I'd say she's about at 100% as she could be! Thank you so much for watching!!!!😊

Suger cube shouldn't be in cup instead You take a bite of it and then take coffee. Then you feel a taste of sweetness and coffee mixture effect. That's the reason Suger cube exists. 😆

Oh I know Timur🤣 We made a HUGE mistake in doing that LOL. It's one of those things where unless you're taught ahead of time not to do that, you'll almost always make that mistake the first time you try it lol. We normally make instant coffee since we travel full-time so we're so used to stirring in our grounds that it was kind of second nature. We'll make sure not to make this mistake again though next time we're in Mostar! Thank you so much again for watching our video Timur! It means the world to us!

Mostar isn't the most visited city in Bosnia. Both Sarajevo and Međugorje have over 1 million arrivals yearly and Mostar is only at 600k. BiH needs to improve on actually registering the guests, half of them aren't even part of official stats, especially in Međugorje.

Thank you for clarifying Marcus!!! We merely went off of what we'd read on the internet & what we'd been informed by some people we'd met during our time there. Either way, there's much more to this country than any one town in particular & hopefully our vlogs from our time in BiH encourages someone to add it to their travel bucketlist. Thanks so much for watching!!
