"Gold XP Windows" isn't bad engrish, it's just a byproduct of the author of the bootleg, who appears to be Arabic. English uses Subject, Verb, Object ordering in grammar, but Arabic uses Verb, Subject, Object. The lack of plurality (Window vs Windows) is another thing, plurality in words isn't common in many languages. English speakers would say Windows XP Gold. Arabic speakers would say Gold XP Windows. Getting the sentence structure correct when learning different languages is hard. English is the rare exception where you can butcher and mutilate it to hell and it still mostly makes sense. That doesn't often work when going to different languages, where it can end up as utter nonsense or you saying something completely different by juxtapositioning words. It doesn't excuse the awfulness of the bootleg though.

Man having been born in north africa and actually seeing people use bootleg xp versions as their daily drivers is an experience like no other. Its funny and nostalgic watching this video I actually had s relative use windows gold and saw nothing wrong with it. Good times... And great video hope you make more in the future

In Russia in the days of windows xp relevance, this kind of bootlegs were on almost every pc, such as the most famous of them zverdvd, god how awful it was, some of them had important features removed, so that some software wouldn't even run or install... Thinking back to those times I can say it was the best advertisement for licensed software...

I did actually play Mario Forever back in 2008, probably downloaded from a shovelware game website. It's essentially an (unauthorized and uncredited) clone of the Super Mario All-Stars version of SMB, but also using music from Super Mario World in some levels.

Considering how many Gangster Version memes are around recently in the last year, I am surprised no one actually went and made a XP Gangster Edition mod for real.

So apparently winrar crystal edition was a special winrar version made for its 15th anniversary, it just had a different theme applied. I couldn't really find much else about it besides an old usenet post

This takes me back, I used to collect ISOs of all these and just check them out, they even had their own little dumb company names and groups. Its quite the rabbit hole.

I remember installing one of these when I worked at the school district on an older computer (around 2007) and it having a ton of X rated pictures on it for the wall paper.

These re-skinned Windows editions bring back memories. I remember back in the day when Vista came out, I've installed a Vista re-skin on my PC with Windows XP x64 Edition. So it would look like Vista but still be XP. Had it for a long time, until Windows 7 came out. I actually used to make kind-of bootlegs myself, Windows 7 installations with all updates to date and a bunch of software (Office stuff, archivers, media players, etc.) pre-installed. No re-skins or anything, just software. Later did that with Windows 10. When Microsoft switched to using WIMs for installation (since Vista), it became incredibly easy to make custom Windows builds. All you had to do is install what you want on top of a clean OS, run sysprep and create a WIM image of the disk, which you would then copy to a Windows DVD image, replacing the stock install.wim.

Real and funny story: a friend of mine used to work for a big UIX company back in the 2000s and early 2010s. The company basically collaborated with other AAA companies to help them create the most intuitive GUI for their products. This company constantly received applications from design newcomers, as some positions could be done online, from a distance even back then; but the company had a very strict and particular rule: automatically reject applicants from India and Arab countries. It wasn’t a racial thing, mind you, but it was a rule almost solely based on these bootlegs and the very heavy handed and tacky design language so popular in those regions back then.

Fun fact, if you add the options "extract all..." or "extract to \{filename}\" for winrar to your windows context menu, the winrar free trial notification never pops up at all, and you can use it indefinitely without even the popup.

For the past couple months I’ve been on a quest to recover some old versions of utility software and for all their faults some of these weird Windows distros are some of the only place the installers / serials exist. Goofy as they may be, they have some value to me and gives us a fun little time capsule to explore.

I salute your commitment... i was in PAIN, looking at the monstrosities... I've been rolling my own since the NT4 days and i think these will give me PTSD... I always thought Luna was "Windows Toys'r'Us" but now i feel like it was a somber, good taste theme... Anyway, thumbs up for the multiboot one. Hiren's was and still is nice to have, (depending on timeline) (Norton) Partition Magic/Acronis Disk Director, Norton Ghost/Acronis True Image and later Kaspersky's own "AV bootdisk". Shame that all these bootlegs seem to go "form over function" for the most part. Like they were put together by 14 year olds :P

This is your best video yet! I remember first watching your channel around 2016, and I remember watching your unofficial/bootleg Windows versions videos that you used to upload a lot. This video just really brings me back to 8 years ago when I watched your Windows XP Gold 2016 and Windows 7 Gold 2016 videos!

There will always be a soft spot in my heart for garishly modified bootleg windows XP editions.

The busy design style for all of these has a peak Myspace vibe to them.

The Windows Avengers one reminds me a lot of Windows 7 Batman v Superman Edition from years back

I remember being able to customize your install of Windows. I had a blast changing things around. It was pretty easy to do, back then, too. You could find a lot of high quality creations onliine.

OMG Avengers still have a second installations screen (again abit literal cuz it's so funny): What was removed from The Windows is new for it's kind: Windows Media Player was removed Internet Explorer was Removed The TACKY games and the Internet games that NOBODY USES was removed (Someone is gunna get triggered cuz i was xD)

Gold XP, also known as IRAQI Windows XP.

I worked as a tech in a repair shop for a few years in the mid to late 2000s. I've seen some real bloated bootlegs. They were extremely prevelent during the XP, Vista, Seven days. I ran Malwarebytes on a fresh install of 7 and it was full of Trojans and trackers. I wouldn't install that on anything with data I care about on it, nor would I use the internet with it. Hell I wouldn't let it get close to an Ethernet cable

While these customizations are by and large awful, they are nostalgic. Today's custom builds of Windows are just like... bloatware removers.

I had a laugh with these bootlegs when I decided to look for bootlegs other than trimmed down releases. Glad to see just how hectic this stuff can get.

I LOVE🥰 the LEGIT 3 and 1/2 inch 3.1 / 3.2 "floppy" (it's the internals that's flexible.) disk 'wallpaper'.. RETRO awesomeness there.

I still had XP in like 2010-2012 or so and I remember it feeling so cool when I installed a third party app that gave me the Windows 7 aero theme. Really made the PC feel fresh even though it probably really slowed it down because IIRC it had a single core Athlon 64 and some horrible low end ATI GPU that I had to buy because the original GPU blew up

You should check out Vietnamese Windows bootlegs at some point too. They are quite "high quality (?)".

Kinda fun video. Those maybe don't look like bootlegs. They look more like reskins. Also, it's pretty neat that you've mentioned Mario Forever. It would be a good choice, if you don't have any ideas for the next video.

these are all official, I have no idea what your talking about. I use Windows Angry Birds 7 every day and I love it and I'm never going to switch (unless of course they finally release Windows Angry Birds 11)

So kind of these bootleg versions of Windows to put their social media of the time in for Microsoft to be able to directly reach out and say "we just want to talk with you"
