You know how everyone in riyadh kept saying welcome welcome? Some might think it’s because they dont know any other words in English, but even if Doug was an arabic-speaking guest, they would’ve welcomed him many many times in arabic language too, it’s a form of hospitality to keep repeating it and make sure the guests know they are welcomed.

I’m from the UK and have been offered work in KSA - I hope to travel there in 3/4 months. These videos are amazing. Saudi Arabia looks like a beautiful country with a rich, deep, interesting culture and accommodating and friendly people. I can not wait to travel here.

Just a tip my friend. I work for BAE Systems and I’m Saudi. One of the things that I always tell my colleagues who are British is that they almost never get to experience anything Saudi because they live in compounds that keep them from interacting with locals. If you find people that you think are friendly looking and spark a conversation with them, you just might get to experience something unique! It’s all about communicating with your surroundings. Hit me up if you’re going to work in Khobar/Dammam/Dhahran. I’d be glad to host you.

I don’t know how long you’re staying in Saudi but if there’s time you should rent a 4x4 or get Salman with you and get out into the desert. There are many oases you could visit and see different branches of Saudi culture from different traditional tribes. If you’re gone now, and ever plan to come back, I think exploring on a road trip should be part of the bucket list. Glad to see some positive light on Saudi, the politics may be murky as hell but it’s good to look at the bright things in a culture as well. Good work man :)

Wish this world had MORE kind hearted HUMANS like you to make this planet truly a wonderfully better place... The world is thankful to you and grateful as well....(!) A very different Saudi Arabia... Extremely cool & kind people, they (do) truly represent a country, real ambassador(s) of the mother/father LAND... to name a few, it's Sultan, Saeed, Bandar ....
